La Liga - 2014/15

Easier to understand when your club did similar against Barcelona, as well and to complain about it would be fairly hypocritical at this point, IMO

They lost one cheap shot artist in Costa and Godin remains but generally, they are more physical than dirty
If you go through every clubs history, you will find that every club has played in such a way at one point or another, so I think it would be pretty hypocritical of any club to complain about it. Tackling and physicality is a big part of the game and it would be a massive shame if they were lost. Unfortunately fouling (both tactical or unintentional) are a result of that, but for the most part I think there is a good balance between the two (physicality and fouling).

And like you said, it would be hypocritical. And there is nothing worse than a hypocrite ;).

I'd say Raúl García is their dirtiest player left now. Agree that they're more physical than dirty though.

Senyera for Barça today, right? Nice to see.

According to marca, ancelotti is planning to change back to 4-2-3-1 (which was the formation he used at the start of last season) with james playing in the hole and when the team loses the ball, the system will change to 4-4-2 with james and bale moving out to the wide midfield positions, giving Ronaldo and benzema more freedom further forward. I think the team will struggle tonight as the balance of the team is so bad (and even if this new system will work, it will take time) and so many players are adapting to their new roles and they don't seem to know what to do. I cannot see past an atletico win or a draw at best. Their team is much more settled and can pretty much pick up where they left off from last year. Madrid, after their pretty silly (to say the least) transfer window cannot and have to start again.

Simeone is banned, right? His absence on the sideline alone can tilt the match towards Real's side.

Lahoz is a nutjob

Alves is out for Barcelona with the Basques in town which likely means Montoya will get a chance to show his quality against Valverde's unforgiving side. I expect Munir to start again as well

Yeah Montoya and Munir both start. Piqué dropped too, with Mascherano and Mathieu at the back.

FC Barcelona Bravo; Montoya, Mathieu, Mascherano, Alba; Busquets, Rakitic, Iniesta; Munir, Messi y Pedro.
Athletic Iraizoz; De Marcos, Laporte, Gurpegi, Balenziaga; Iturraspe, Mikel Rico, Beñat; Susaeta, Muniain y Aduriz.

Amazing that there were no goals there, the last few minutes have had huge pressure from Barca.

Couple of penalty shouts, Mascherano kicked in the face yet Aduriz with just a yellow. Another great example of Spanish standard of refereeing, while Lahoz is a nut, Borbalan is simply corrupt

FCBarca complaining about the ref again. Some things never change

I suppose if my club was the beneficiary like yours in a corrupt country like Spain, I'd feel similarly

Munir could've had a hat-trick and Messi a hat-trick of assists. Rakitic best man for Barça so far, Iturraspe and Gurpegi for Athletic IMO.

You just have to read the post to know immediately who the poster is, don't even need to see the name. Very predictable, where have the other Barca fans gone? Tbh they were never an objective bunch anyway.

Yeah, Rakitic has been brilliant thus far for Barcelona - an excellent addition over Cesc. Neymar on for Pedro who should've been sold instead of Alexis

Malapapper used to be a very objective poster, IMO. Such a shame he moved on from the Caf.

He was terrible most of the time, he topped it all by claiming Asian fans hardly have an IQ or something like that. @Mander is the only "objective" one I can think of.

I was curious about that sale as well. Did they just hold onto Pedro because he's Spanish or did they have legit footballing reasons? I don't see too many to be honest.

Happy with many things about Barca. Few essentials like pressing higher up the pitch, playing a fast tempo, and defensively solid so far. They looked fitter than last season. The passing was bit off, few chances missed, but I would rather miss chances than creating nothing.
Messi looked much involved, happy with the new youngsters, and the coach seems to trust them a lot. Not many team would play Munir, Sandro, Montoya same day. Now I would just hope both Madrid clubs to blunt each other and get a few suspensions..

You seen the Assistant Manager? Touchline presence won't be an issue.
He is not half as charismatic as Simeone though :(

Anyway, with Pepe and Ramos we'll have enough drama :D Shame Costa has left Atletico, neither his quality nor his drama potential could be replaced so far!

I reckon Mandžukić could give him a run for his money at the latter. Got into a lot of scraps against Real Madrid already in the two Supercopa games.
