La Liga - 2014/15

Must say, I'm very surprised that Jose hasn't been crawling all over Modric yet. Imagine a 3 man midfield of Cesc and Modric in front of Matic. Strewth.

He nearly wrecked Modrić by not trusting him to play deep in midfield (fecking Khedira started there instead), not sure he'd be keen to join up again with Mourinho.

Probably 95% BS but the Sunday Express are reporting that Modric's wife is unhappy in Madrid now and fancies a move back to England with Utd and Chelsea alerted. Spooky timing.

Oh and Ancelotti said Modrić is about a month away from fitness after the match today, though the Marca link may have said that.

If it wasn't for Mourinho Modric wouldn't even be at Madrid as he isn't the type of player or world cup star Madrid like to sign. He seems happy enough at Madrid but if for whatever reason Madrid wanted to get rid or he wanted to leave I have no doubt he would join Mourinho in a hearthbeat. I don't like Mourinho either but Madrid only have him to thank for Modric.

For getting him? Sure. He didn't use him well though, there's no point buying a player like Modrić and then playing him as a number 10.

He wouldn't be playing as a No 10 at Chelsea with Oscar and Fabregas there though.

Yes, that story's been kicking around (unattributed) in the Spanish press for a couple of weeks. I think it's the kind of story that comes up when a foreign player is injured. It's a frustrating thing for the family as well as the player - not only in the wrong town, but not working. Whether it will feel the same at the end of the season may depend on how well Real Madrid and Modric do in La Liga and the CL.

Another exquisite Rodriguez cross. £70m might have been excessive, but people that think he's not a great player underrate him considerably.

He's been somewhat inconsistent, but has so much quality. Already 10 goals and 10 assists (in 30 apps) in all competitions as well.

Eye test wise, Isco is a lot better, like Di Maria and Bale last season. Sometimes you need players that just score and assist, even if you can't always explain why.

He did in second half of the season with Xabi in 2 man midfield. Modric was Madrid's best player from February until the end of the season, but there was no silverware so no one cared. The topics at the time were problems and internal fights between Mou, Casillas, the media, etc...

He did better in the second half, I agree. Played sporadically deeper in midfield too, but not regularly as you imply, Khedira still made 14 starts from February onwards...

He got them in place of Xabi. Modric was 5. in the number of minutes at the end of the season behind Ronaldo, Ramos, Xabi and Ozil, although he spent a lot of time on the bench in the first half of the season.
From February until the end of the season he played non stop in midfield 2. He was rested 2 or 3 games and that's it.
The point is that Modric doesn't feel he was missmanged by Mourinho. If he's leaving Madrid I see Chelsea as the only option.

Giménez starting ahead of Miranda. A sign of things to come? Or is he just rested.

No chance. Postiga is out injured and doesnt play :D

Raul Garcia shoulder/back goal 2-0 Atlético

That Depor defence...i'd be surprised if Barcelona doesn't win by a big margin. I don't understand how Sidnei still has market in Spain.

You clearly haven't seen Barça play in away games this season... apart from against a 10-man Levante they've struggled to score (12 goals in 9 away games, 5 of those against Levante alone). They'll probably win, but not by a very high margin I don't think.

Oh i have, i just think Depor's defence with Sidnei and Luisinho atrocious. Barcelona has been playing better in the recent weeks to be fair.

Yeah Neymar-Suárez-Messi linking well as of late... still there's a structural problem with Barça's MF that makes it incapable of finding those three regularly, so they'll have to create on their own mostly.

Heh what did i say? Goal by Messi, good header. And it should be 2-0 already. Guess you haven't seen enough from Depor @Skorenzy

Well they've kept 6 clean sheets in their last 11 games or something... did concede 8 at home to RM. Also only the 3rd or 4th time this season that Barça score this early as well, now this could and should become a rout.

Barça look quite sharp, maybe that Atléti win was the "click" they needed to kick off their season.

He does have a higher percentage of good to awesome goals than Ronaldo you have to say...

Depor can barely pass the midfield

What's the possession? 90% to Barcelona?

Sloppy minute or two by Busquets there, Lost the ball too easily.
