La Liga - 2014/15

I reckon Ancelotti's refusal to rotate isn't helping either, a lot of those players have been playing too much.

You are right. Not only too much game time but also complacency issues because players are not fighting for the place in the starting 11.

Yep, hard to disagree with that @Bob Loblaw

They're not playing awfully by any means but that free flowing stuff of earlier this season has evaporated right now. Too many over ambitious balls, lack of movement and the full backs seem reluctant to overlap today, looking to come inwards only. All adds up to a frustrating half for them.

Ramos, Kroos, Ronaldo who are normally very reliable have all been off the pace since Christmas. Ramos and Ronaldo are carrying injuries. Kroos looks tired, it's a lot to ask him to anchor a James, Isco midfield and he hasn't had Modric for a couple of months now. He didn't take much time off in the summer, he's not getting his mid-winter break.

And Ronaldo gets that Madrid goal that's been coming.

You've got to wonder why no Getafe player went with him. Knew as soon as Benzema got the ball it'd finish with a tap in for Ronaldo.

Brilliant. When that attack clicks, at that pace, simply unstoppable.

Stonewall pen not given. That said, he wasn't ever getting the ball afterwards though.

Another exquisite Rodriguez cross. £70m might have been excessive, but people that think he's not a great player underrate him considerably.

I like how Getafe don't even have an electronic number board thing for subs.

Criminal defending by Real there. You could see Getafe had 2 men on Carvajal for about 30 seconds. Crazy how they've not pulled a goal back.

Does anybody know when Modric is due back? I imagine Real will be even more potent when he's back in the side.

@Snake Plissken he was certainly up there in contention for top spot.

His passing, constant movement and general support play (providing short options, interceptions, hassling tackles etc) were as good as I've ever seen him produce that's for sure.

Totally agree. Reads the game really well, and I'm always impressed at how quickly he's able to control the ball and get a pass away. He never slows down any attacks, he utilizes the space in the pitch perfectly.

I'd say he was the best before his injury, yeah. He took on the mantle from Xavi and Iniesta.

Iniesta, what happened to him?

There's quite a few midfielders I'd rather have now. But Modric has been my personal fav over the last couple of years. kroos is non too shabby either, and of course Fabregas is climbing the ladder in rank again.

God knows. Every once in a while he pops up with a great performance which makes you wonder whether he's...back...but then next game he's back to being very quiet.

Schweinsteiger is probably another to throw in, once he's injury free anyway. Some would probably say Yaya Touré but I'm not a big fan of his.

Must say, I'm very surprised that Jose hasn't been crawling all over Modric yet. Imagine a 3 man midfield of Cesc and Modric in front of Matic. Strewth.

Schweinsteiger is brilliant. Whilst he's obviously highly rated I never thought he quite got enough credit for how good he is.
