La Liga - 2012/2013

And damn proud of it, too!

I have no expectations that Atlético will actually win. If they don't implode by January (sack Simeone, elect a new president, sell the stadium, sell Falcao, elect the old president again, buy Heskey), I'll be pretty surprised. It's their usual MO.

Well, to be fair Atletico are miles off Barca's level. They just have a new found solidity about them and are much more consistent under Simeone. They only spent a million in the summer, and lost their most creative player from last season.

Yeah I get that, was just acknowledging Atletico really. The more alarming thing is how strangled Madrid look without the spaces to counter into. Luckily they have Ronaldo.

He misses so many chances! They could do with a quality striker. RVP or someone.

If Higuain had scored all those penalties that Ronaldo scored last season, he would have scored the same amount of goals as Ronaldo, add that to the fact that he also played significantly less which tells you about the quality of Higuain. Still prefer RVP over Benzema any day, so overrated that it is unreal.

Diego Costa is taking the piss since the game started...

you tell him

i'm not talking to him

Diego Costa has been riling up Sergio Ramos all game, and now that I think about it, he did the exact same thing last season when he played for Rayo

Say that again? So if you take away Ronaldos penalties from his tally, and added it to Higuains' tally, it is equal? Or is it just that they scored the same amount apart excluding penalties? How may penalities is that?

I assume its the first one, which is impressive tbf, but he still misses many chances, and you can't deny that. Not a bad back-up striker to have though, in fact, he's a great back-up to have.

Was this after the deliberate elbow in the throat by Ramos in the same game? I believe that both Ramos and Pepe escaped red cards in that game because the referee was weak. I remember the game very well.

I swear some of you guys are robots. How can you guys remember so much?

They have a direct feed-in of info from Damien.

Higuaín is a bit of a hit-and-miss; I was very impressed with him a few years ago, but today not so much. The typical Brazilian phenomenon of running out of steam a few years down the line?

Come on Marcos, bite...

Well, as Proud Lyon said, it was a remarkable enough game that one. Lots of controversy, including some penalty fouls by Ramos that were ignored I believe? An obvious elbow in Diego Costa's face inside the box if I recall...

Ronaldo, 46 goals in 38 games with 12 penalties included.
Higuain, 22 goals in 35 games with no penalties.

If Higuain had been the specialist penalty taker, Ronaldo would have scored 34 goals and Higuain would have equally scored 34.

That was the earlier incident, then there was another one near the byline in the first half of that same game too.

Higuain would've scored that with his first touch, Benzema would've missed by a mile.
please love me, marcos

No matter what Atletico do, they will never beat Real Madrid. I must have watched the last 15 derby's, and apart from a couple of draw's it's always the same old.

Apart from one half chance in the first half Atletico have done nothing in an attacking sense. Changes should have come a bit earlier.
