La Liga - 2012/2013

Question for you lot who watch all these Madrid games - how has Modric been for them? He hasn't been great from what I've seen, although not terrible either.

Don't worry Vato. 2nd half they'll just bring on Mesut and Cristiano and that'll be that.

Depor will continue to anally rape your midfield, but their profligacy will just lead to counters that will be clinically finished by them two. ;)

He's played well against weak opposition a couple of times, but otherwise just OK. Nothing that would make you leave out Alonso, Khedira, Ozil for him. Mourinho's experimented with playing him high up the field with Ozil or Kaka but at the moment that just looks like trying to fit him into the team, rather than giving the team another dimension.

Madrid's team of players with "something to prove" are lucky to be going in only one goal down - looks like they've just proved why they aren't the starting 11. Great goalline header by Marcelo though.

Slow of thought and action! Which is what you tend to suspect about PL midfielders versus Liga ones.

Some of Depor's build-up has been  the instant control, the touch, the vision... Wouldn't expect any less from a midfield reigned by Valerón. Pizzi has been incredible to watch too, an assist and two great plays that could easily have been goals.

Cheers jo.

i blame mourinho

shit team selection

Three days before they play Barcelona? As well as can be expected in terms of team selection - a bit shit in terms of good-on-paper players proving they're good enough for the matches coming coming up for them.

Of course ten days and half a dozen players can make a lot of difference. Still, right now, it's on!

The thing is that RM very often lose the midfield battles, even with Alonso and Khedira in there, but their defensive unit is usually capable of absorbing the opponent's breaks and then feeding it (usually Alonso) to the attack who are ruthlessly clinical when Ronaldo is in there. In this game their midfield is almost non-existant and the backline is being overrun; when Depor do get hit on the break RM aren't being clinical in their final balls and finishes.

Yes, bottom of La Liga but they still can play a bit.

Callejon the starter is not like Callejon the super-sub. Odd isn't it when that happens.

Madrid have woken up since halftime.
