L.A. Noir

I see. Good point. Is that Blink game any good by the way?

I think its called Brink? I saw something about it and it looked brilliant and then read reviews which were all quite critical of it.

As for this I am disappointed I was expecting it to be getting all 9's and 10's

Will probably get it, but not in any rush now

Mine was sent this morning... sadly tomorrow's the national day in here in Norway, so I won't be seeing it till wednesday, at least.

Looks damn absorbing, though if it were up to me one could screw up and crash into pedestrians and whatnot... would add more edge to the car chases and whatnot, though I guess it might be hard if your case were marred by collateral damage like that, needing you to restart from a previous check point.

got an email this morning to say mine is being processed

I still can't decide whether to buy this or not.

Reviews are strong atleast. Depends if your into the genre I guess.

Order ready for packing from Game. Anyone used them before for pre-orders, I'd love for it arrive Thursday but I'm greedy.

has been packed and now awaiting release for delivery:D

Who did you order from Sparky? I should still be getting this Thurs as usual with shopto.net

ah just got an email now to say it has been dispatched and is on the way :D

i ordered from game a while ago

I reckon this might be in the stores already here if you got them sent to you. I will check it out later, I managed to finish my 80-page essay to complete the semester yesterday so I have plenty of times on my hands until July at least. :D

wouldnt be too hopeful, usually if they break early in stores it is the night before release day, always a better chance of it arriving a day early on a preorder

Games are usually in stores two or three days before the official release date here, especially in the big chain stores with games. I fully expect it to have it earlier than Friday.

Indeed this is true. I worked in Smyths Toys gaming section as a student. We had Fifa 09 in stock about 2 days before it's release for example, I had mark the reserved copy ones with stickers! It was the same with Gears of War 2.

right, just saw your location. that would explain them breaking release a few days early then

FIFA11 was in stores four days before it was supposed to be released. They seldom put Sony games on shelves before though, mainly because most of those stores have a Sony employee in store presenting their products and I believe they keep an eye on things like that as well. For example, Gran Turismo was lying in the box waiting a day before but they said I couldn't get one because it's not yet out. Rockstar don't look after that so I think LA Noire will be in stores tomorrow or on Thursday.

Never gets old.

My copy was dispatched today, should arrive tomorrow. Good old Shopto

Pre ordered mine with Gamestop. Quickiest way to get it delievered to my address here. Looking forward to it :)

I wouldn't recommend many people to purchase this game. I find it thoroughly disappointing if I am being honest. There are story cases and side missions (per se) and these side missions pop up in the middle of each story cases. I don't like this as it ends up being very distracting and it interrupts the flow of each case. Imagine the scenario where you are on the way to a murder or interviewing a suspect, next thing you know BAM, you have a call to catch a couple of robbers. And most of the side missions can be ended up just shooting the bad guys in the head. I have not tried any other method as this method works for me and counts to the completion of these side story missions.

While there are many main story missions, I find myself bored after getting promoted the second time. Go here -> pick up stuff -> interview -> pick up more stuff -> interview more -> shoot people/chase people -> end. Open world is okay I guess but I don't see much point of having an open world system when all you have got to do is drive from A to B while prompting side missions on the way. It just feels incredibly linear.

I expected more from LA Noire. It's a good game but I can't help feeling that it's CSI: Fatal Conspiracy meeting Mafia II (with better production values).

7/10 - I'm only buying this as I have no other game I see myself playing until Uncharted 3.

Those stickers mean shit all when the store is packed. I reserved a copy of San Andreas from Game years ago, and when I went in to pick it up I was told it was sold and there was none left. So despite having pre-ordered it I had to wait for new copies to come in. Wankers the lot of em

For the most part I agree with you - expected a lot more from this game. Not at all like GTA or other sandbox games where you could do a lot of missions in the order you choose but very linear where there's never a time that you're not on a storyline mission.
I think you can completely screw up everything involved with a case and still solve it.
I was doing the side missions when they came up but I'm waiting now until I finish all the main missions then I'll go back and do them just to keep from disrupting the main game. I was on one mission (don't remember which) and did a side mission and after the main one was over it said I could have caught the bad guys ransacking an apartment if I would have gotten there sooner.

Dont think I can be arsed with this Rockstar game. Looks nothing compared to Red Dead which was simply one of the top 20 games ever.

This is a Team Bondi game published by Rockstar primarily, it obviously still has the Rockstar feel though.

Depends on where you go. We used ring up the customers the day of release and give them until the next day to pick it up. In fairness we did have tons in stock though.

I see, still, it just doesn't seem to appeal to me as much as Red dead or GTA.

Why is that though? It's still a sandbox game which looks to have a well developed plot and great attention to detail and general atmosphere. Sounds like a typical Rockstar game to me. Is it because you're on the other side (not a criminal) compared to other Rockstar games? I can see how it might seem a little less exciting having to solve crimes rather than commit them.

Personally I'm a big fan of hardboiled fiction/noir films, so this game really appeals to me. Much like Red Dead appealed to my fascination of Westerns.

In all honesty most of my enjoyment from the game came from being a bastard, yes, so while I sometimes played as a good-guy (even down to drive normally) having the option suddenly to be a terrible bastard was half the enjoyment.
