Mbappé refused to undertake marketing operations linked to sponsors of the Blues

"On the Mbappé side, we believe that certain brands pose ethical and moral problems and we wonder about the redistribution of income generated by the Blues."

The first time I see this brought up. How do the FAs in Europe use the money generated by NTs and how much actually goes down the pyramid?

That's why I like Mbappe, he's smart and he sees the big picture. People here were surprised by his reaction initially but most sided with him because it makes sense. He doesn't want to do commercial stuff for sponsors of the French team that he turned down as a personal entity for ethical reasons. Most importantly, he wants clarity on how the money generated by the national team is used, he wants a bigger part to go to suburban, countryside and isolated areas to help them grow. He's not doing it for himself since so far he's given all his earnings from the national team to charity. I think he realizes too much of that money is lining up some people pocket instead of being used the way he thinks it should be and he's trying to call it out.

Did he do the same with PSG? Curious.

Why would he? PSG is his employer, the national team is basically volunteering in his own eyes, I'm sure you understand the difference.

I think the poster asked the question since Mbappe‘s wages are being paid by Qatar. So mentioning „ethical reasons“ to boycott sponsorship events of the national team seems a bit strange.

Yea I had a feeling where he wanted to lead with that but as I said, club and national team are different, I don't see what it has to do with the point brought up by Pintu. People on this board are obsessed with PSG and its ownership when the PL is 10X worse in that regard, in France we don't like it but it's not as big of a deal, we might start to worry when half the league is owned by dubious entities like it's the case in the PL.

You'll never have another league winner again besides PSG does that not really really bother everyone?

Lille, Monaco and to a lesser extent Montpellier have shown it's possible to win the league over PSG, even though it's pretty tough to do. But, and that's just my opinion, I'd rather have one top french club rather than none, kind of like Bayern in Germany. We don't have the football culture that England has, and we never will. We'll never have the same following or revenues, and a club like PSG, even though its ownership is obviously far from ideal, is the closest thing that we've ever had to a consistent top european club. Of course my opinion is probably biased by the fact that my own club hasnt been anywhere close to competing for the past 2 decades and probably wont ever again.

Mbappe is a hypocrite. He should take a look at the state that pays his wages for psg.

Also national teams dont pay player wages.

I'm not going to dignify the first part of your reply because it's pointless, but nobody said national team paid player wages, they give them a ton of bonus though.

Just saw that PSG are reportedly offering him a 150m signing on fee and wages of 21m a year. For the sake of his own career he needs to just leave that league.

For that kind of money, it’s hard to see outside as a career improvement. We all work for money at the end of the day.

Just stay for another year or two. Just to piss off madrid. I dislike them more than psg.

For that money I'd sign for 1 or 2 years. Make sure the contract doesn't have any got ya clauses then leave for a team that I really like. He'd still be 25 and in his prime.

Crazy to think that he will likely be a billionaire before he retires from playing, maybe before he turns 30.

Wow, should rename it to Mbappe FC if he renews.

Getting the full Messi at Barca treatment

The more time passes, the more I’m certain he re-signs with PSG. They will keep on increasing the numbers in front of the seven zero’s until his family cracks.

imagine that we end up losing Haaland and Mbappe :nervous:

How much is €100m net as a weekly wage?

And €100m signing on fee
And he can sack whomever he wants

Must be taking a piss kind of tweet, this? I meant if Mbappe asks PSG to sign/sell certain players, but due to regulation restriction, and they fail to comply, what is gonna happen? They still have to pay all the money to him and he can leave in the next transfer window?

Must be close to 2m a week.
That was the danger of Madrid fans assuming Mbappe was theirs, where do they go now? All of a sudden their squad is looking a little bare

TBF, with Mbappe himself going public about his desire to leave, and kinda hinting RM as his preferred destination; it's not unreasonable to assume thing.

PSG doing crazy financial stuff and being allowed to is another thing though. Vindicating ESL thing if recent rumour is true.

Jesus.

So who will real go for if he resigns? Seeing that halland is City bound as well.

2m a week net right, meaning almost 4m gross.

Considering Haaland is close to choosing Man City.

They can go for Pogba though.

They may try an easy to pull off combination of Dybala, Pogba, Tchouameni for example to save face. I hope they go for Salah though. But there is no direct replacement for Mbappe profile as a player, and commercial value really.

That's just asking for disaster, two over rated and injury prone players on massive wages with no way to offload them, what could go wrong.
Tchouameni could be great for them though but obviously inexperienced.

I presume this is a nonsense source? Reads like rubbish to me.
Months ago there was already a tweet about a gigantic offer to renew two years.I think Le Parisien was the source in that occasion

I have no doubt that is complete and utter bollox.

The money I could imagine being in the ballpark considering how much it would cost to replace him but the rest sounds ridiculous.

My main point is about that RM having to sign multiple high profile star players to save face for a failed Mbappe transfer.

Panic signings can be wild. I put Pogba and Dybala in because they're free agents. Tchouameni being one of the hottest prospect out there.

Your assessment is completely valid.
Them doing it will be still as you put it "wild".
They'd be better of skipping on this window and go for quality options instead in my opinion.
