Kylian Mbappé | Real Madrid watch

I am very curious to see how this goes.

It feels like with him, Vinicius, Jude and Endrick it feels like one player too many

Your guess is as good as mine, but I'm not sure it would cause a dressing room beef. Vini will probably have to accept playing out of position, or leave.

Mbappe excels in playing in either flank and I can see him deployed on the right or centrally, Vini is too good to be pushed somewhere else and Mbappe is absolutely capable of operating in more than one position upfront

Do not want him and do not need him.

I think Endrick is still a few years off breaking into the team. I won't be surprised if he goes out on loan.

His biggest issue from the legacy perspective would be even if Real wins another UCL with him as the main man next year, people would say well Real was winning already without him and it's not a big deal to do that at Real. So, there would always be a question mark there.

Exactly, we have won the league and UCL without him so from now the expectations are going to be massive around him and if he fails short of winning a league or a UCL he's going to be deemed as a failure.

Wouldn't this be the case regardless of when he came?

I get that, but I don't see why Madrid would sign the best player in the world just to shoehorn him into a position that's not his most comfortable one, especially to the right side, where he cannot cut inside onto his preferred foot.

No, since we've been winning without him since he rejected us it's become more aparent he needs more this move than the club needing him to win stuff.

Some fans are blessed. Imagine your club doing the league and European double then signing fecking Mbappe the next day.

He'll improve them, but only a bit. Replacing Kroos a bigger issue for them.

It's going to be very interesting to see if he tries to become the penalty taker right away at Madrid.

I've read that he's supposedly getting a £85m signing on fee, don't know how true that is, but genuine question...

How in the hell do Madrid comply with FFP?

He might play as a striker.
Madrid tries to improve no matter what, hence they win the CL 15 timea

Real Madrid don't spend that much money on transfers these days (since they don't make too many) and they earn lots and lots of money.

Obviously a top player but with so much talent upfront you have to wonder if it will cause disruption

I do think he bring a lot of drama and politics too it could be interesting

They don't spend much on transfers these days, relatively of course. They made some great deals with players at the end of their contracts like Rüdiger and Alaba if I remember correctly.

The problem with winning liga and champions is that next season will surely be worse and the differential factor will be pointed out.
Bellingham might lower his stats and it will be easier to blame a position change motivated by a newcomer.
The same with Vini. If we lose the sentence will be "Vini, the Ballon d'Or, is uncomfortable."
That is to say, his presumably good performance may be overshadowed by a team exhausted after a very good season and that begins without the Kroos position resolved, not like when Alonso left who saw the arrival of Toni that same Summer.
I think his attitude will be good, with false humility well carried out and that he will be well received in the team.

Speaking of winning.

2014 - CL win
2015 - Feck all
2022 - Double win
2023 - Feck all
2024 - Double win

Carletto doesn’t seem to do well in odd-numbered years.

Rodrygo gave an interview before the final saying that City were the team that played the best, and that they knew it. That's an "F" in first grade in madridismo. As Guardiola says "Madrid never lose because of their opponents, but because they had a bad day".
Then he said that they had cut the interview, that he wanted to stay at Madrid until he was told to leave, etc. However, in general it all sounded quite melancholic.
I used to think he wouldn't move the Brazilians but every day I find it harder and harder to see Rodrygo, Brahim, Endrick, Guler living together for minutes (in good games, not Getafes/Leganés).
150 million for Rodrygo? Or I am being a bit forward?

damn it, why did they have to win the champions again? They have disrupted the entire mercato

I disagree, Mbappe is actually good on the right side, he played in that role alot especially when Neymar occupied the left side and during his time in Monaco and even during the WC 2018, I don't see it as shoehorning, Vini never played anywhere else except as a LW so if he is moved somewhere else to accommodate Mbappe then it's him being shoehorned.

I can see one of Diaz or Guler being repurpose as AM/CM, I could be wrong though

….and if there is a manager who is most suited to keep them all under control and happy you’d think Ancelotti would be the one.

Perez probably wants him because he's the biggest star in football right now. Perez wants the biggest celebrities to be at Real and Mbappe is the biggest after Messi and Ronaldo.

I don't think there's much of a football motivation there.

It is football motivated. You shouldn't stay still in football or any team sport just because you won last season. Madrid are adding arguably the best player to their squad who can play across all attacking positions.

So it is confirmed. But 16mUSD per year is quite low for MBappe. How did Real do it like they always have been?
