He's going to be top tier world class this lad. For an 18 year old what stands out is his mentality, looks fearless. Its a shame that we don't seem to even have a chance.

Rashford looks fearless too. But Mbappe's ceiling looks higher.

The notion of nearly signing him is a nonsense.

I think he will stay on

There is no chance we get Mbappe.

Fair enough I guess. If that's the case, then there should be no chance we get Morata at the cost of a ridiculous and undeserved premium which RM's asking for while essentially paying their fee towards Mbappe imo.

Lose-lose for Utd. Really really hoping we don't get Morata for this reason.

CR7 even at this age > Mbappe
Mbappae > Morata

Morata should be a no go for us simply because the fee would be used by RM to buy Mbappe, the eventual successor to Ronaldo - in which case we get d*cked around by helping Madrid and clearly get the shorter end of the stick.

United if anything should either get Ronaldo or Mbappe strictly off the fact we don't allow Madrid to have both of them. If we really want to thrust back into that category of biggest clubs in the world, then go after world class players or soon to be world class players and get out of this cycle of mediocrity. Getting Morata would be toxic as it would set up Real and leave us with a meh player in comparison to the price tag it would cost to get him (Morata) and the player (Mbappe) RM would get out of it.

...TLDR, Ronaldo or Mbappe or no Morata and in that order for reasons mentioned above.

Only problem is, there was a report that Mbappe looked at Mourinho's style of football and said feck no. Would not be surprised, otherwise we would have been sniffing around at least. As for Ronaldo, he had huge problems with Maureen at Real Madrid, so I just have a a feeling he is not looking for a reunion there.

I hear arsenal feel confident they'll get him?

I was initially laughing as well, but now I am not so sure. Wenger mentioned a few weeks ago that his price had already gone above what they could afford, but now they are trying to get him. So either his fee is not as much as is being reported (although it will still be high) or they got some sort of encouragement from talking to him. Maybe Mbappe feels this is a stepping stone to eventually going to Real Madrid or Barcelona with a bit more experience.

Is this kid still deliberating or said no to a move already? Wish he would get a move on as it seems he's holding up the transfer merry go round for all the top teams.

If either Cristiano or Mbappe was available, I'd rather go for Mbappe. The wages won't be astronomical as CR7, and then you have a player who is going to develop while already making an immediate impact for many years. All of this is assuming Real even really sells him and this doesn't die off like it did with Messi. If Mbappe is a no go, and with the scenario of Cristiano being sold, it could be very well be just a straight swap for Madrid where Mbappe replaces CR7 (which would be a disaster for his age in my opinion).

I'd rather this just dies down, there's reports that Cristiano is not going back on his decision of leaving but it would be a premature move. He's in the best club in the world for his career, he should leave for the USA or China in a couple of years, and not overreact to something a bunch of footballers have been accused of without real penalties.

Him and Martial are international teammates. Other than his own eyes, Mbappe will be getting the lowdown from his shunned colleague.

There is no guarantee the kid from Monaco is going to find it easy against EPL keepers. Nowhere near Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho level.

Is it the Ligue 1 goalkeepers who are not allowed to keep the ball out with their hands or is it the 'epl stronk' goalkeepers who have an extra pair of hands at their disposal?

Would Monoco reject a bid close to 80 million? the Madrid interest might not materialise this summer...they don't actually need him (yet) plus Hazard might suit there needs more.

If that happens the crazy fees quoted might just be that crazy!

What has this kid done to be spoken about as an 80 million plus player?

Its absolutely staggering how insane this game has gone.

He is being spoken about as an 120m plus player

He is showing at age 18 he might be the next Messi/Ronaldo quality type player

Totally agree.

I've said if before on here but the cycle for young players is brutal now. One decent season, massively overhyped then criticised by fans and the press when they take a dip in form despite the fact that it's completely normal. By which time another player is the next big thing.

A lot of those crowing about Martial last season will be criticising now and probably wouldn't care if he left, as long as he's replaced by another big signing. All about instant gratification for the modern fan.

The Rashford thread is the same. It's amazing what he's achieved in his career so far, but you've still got people criticising him because he's not the finished article.

If I were in charge of Monaco and anyone offered £140 million for any 18 year old I'd drive them there myself. It's ridiculous. There's no guarantee whatsoever that he'll be a player that justifies that kind of money.

I think it's destructive for these players as well. The pressure must be immense. I suspect nobody cares about that though.

Some stuff this season:

For those who've watched him all season, his directness, composure in front of goal, movement, skill and general ability is sublime. Some of the stuff he does can't be taught. Astonishing amount of potential and has scored at the highest club level.

Fee sounds crazy right now (will be over 120m) but as well as the ability, it looks like he has the motivation needed to help reach his full potential. Pressure on him is immense, but read him in interviews etc and you can see he is level headed and won't take anything for granted.

There is always pressure in Football.

So that's all fine then is it?

Clubs have a duty of care to young players. They are young men first and commodities second. There are very obvious problems giving an 18 year old £200k a week, expecting too much from them and having them face the wrath of the fans and the press when they don't perform.

Young players should get the time and opportunity to develop and fans should wise up and realise that a player might be better than his last 5 games.

You couldn't have found better video's?

I do not think that happens at much as you seem to think it does. The French posters here have pointed out Mbappe has had a lot of hype surrounding since he was like 14 years old. I think he is well aware of the expectations people have of him.

In my humble opinion, ability wise, he may already have surpassed Henry. Remains to be seen if he can keep that swing if he comes to the epl.

But for 120m it's a bargain

.

Don't see anything different. He's 18-19 here.

Anelka was a great talent and had a really good career all things considered. And Anelka was just sort of a weird dude who did not love Football that much. I do not think we have seen signs of that with Mbappe yet.

He loves football but never considered it like a job.

Front three of:

Mbappe -- Martial -- O. Dembele

:drool::drool::drool:

Should only be a measly 220M € , make it happen Woody. :D

If those three kick on this coming season, then I could see France winning next years World Cup.
When you add Griezeman, Pogba, Kante, Varane and Benzema into the mix as well you are left with a  team.

Again, there is a huge difference in being expected to become great, in time and having had time to develop as a player and a person, and being expected to be great now.

Anyone paying the sort of money being talked about will expect that latter.

And just because a young player might expect, that doesn't mean he's ready for it or can cope with it, and that's my point.

You watch him after the Sweden disgrace and you understand that he isn't normal. When senior players avoided the press, he went in front of them and analyzed it.

Could be just considered young and no real understanding of what's going on.

Everybody can see he isn't normal, but his point still stands, kinda. Unless the kid is okay being given a ultra-talented-prospect kind of wage(say, up to £150k a week) while his club rakes in upwards of £100M in transfer fee, whoever stumps up that kind of money will expect him to produce at a WC level right away

Sorry, I don't understand your point. You mean that he doesn't understand what he says, because he is young and naive.

And Mbappé knows that and said himself that he has to match the expectations, he isn't naive. What you could say though is that like all players, not just young players, a change of environment is always risky. But that's true for everyone.
