Liverpool actually think they have a chance with this one?
And this is why the prices have rocketed the way they have. One club starts by paying silly money for a player they want and then it becomes a case of "well if he was worth that much then our player must be worth even more. it has always been the case but i think it really started to escalate when City signed Robinho

For this summer, this is the order of teams with a chance of keeping/getting him:
1. Monaco
2. Madrid
Even if Zidane doesnt win anything next season, they wont fire him.It looks increasingly likely that he will be sold to Madrid and stay in Monaco another season. It'll give him a chance to still develop in an environment he's comfortable with during a world-cup year. Cristiano Ronaldo will be one year older which means he'll probably play a little less which will give Mbappe a chance to get meaningful games under his belt in Spain. Of course, by then, Zidane may not even be the manager anymore so I hope it's not solely Zidane who wants Mbappe, because he may not even get to manage him in a year.
Madrid trying to reduce the asking price of €135m but Man Utd and PSG making it difficult.
If anybody pays the sort of cash being touted for this kid they need their head examined.
Like the 12 times Champions league/European cup winners?
Excellente!! Make Real pay 150m
Klopp is sending Mbappe videos on how he intends to use him as we speak
What a player, one reason why I am a little against signing Morata for an inflated fee is that they will go out and buy him. Rather than paying 80 million I would blow the budget on mbappe and offer 120 million.
If Madrid want him so bad then they may want to sell before they buy. Why are we helping them?
How do we know he won't come? I know he dreams of Madrid but I would rather have him for 2 years and sell for a profit than not have him at all. Morata for 80 million or mbappe for 130 million, no contest for me. We are meant to be the richest club in the world. Why are we setting our sights on Madrid's cast offs?He doesn't want to come though, in your scenario we'd just end up with no reinforcements at all going into next year, just to hamper what is obviously an inevitable move to Madrid at some point within the next 2 years.

Admittedly, I haven't seen him every week this season. But is there much that this kid can do that a focused on form Martial can't?

Personally, I don't think he's much/any better than Rashford. Still waiting to see what Mbappe does better than Rashford.
Martial's lack of focus and intensity had been a red flag ever before we bought him, which is why his first season carrying our attack was surprising to most people. On form an in focus he is right up there with any young payer in Europe but that's his achilles heel.

You only need to open your eyes then. One thing he doesn't that Rashford does so often, run into blind alleys. Try to take on players from weird positions.
I'd rather we spent some time trying to get his focus back rather than dropping that much money on a player who isn't that much of an upgrade on Martial. Just makes more sense to me. Martial has had a very turbulent personal life this past year. Hopefully moving beyond that will help regain his focus.
Whilst I can't agree or disagree with that opinion, I can sort of see what you mean in that they have similar styles of play. Again, not sure we need to buy this kid when he's not too different in style to Martial and Rashford.
Rashford could do no wrong last year. Was making all the right runs, finishing off chances etc. Just the same as I see Mbappe doing this year. I'm eagerly looking forward to see what Mbappe does in his second year?!

As an 18 year old there are two players in the history of the game that matched this kind of output + performance at a high level. Ronaldo Fenómeno and Pelé (although I might be forgetting someone). He has performed very well in CL knockouts and internationally too. I don't think people are understanding just how good he's been.
I have no doubt that Madrid will spend a bunch of money on him this summer. There's no way he gets loaned either and I wouldn't be surprised if he manages to bench Benzema next season.
You forgot our Michael Owen.
