This guy should be our next target as our wide forward, equivalent of hazard, Sanchez.

Can not understand why we haven't thrown everything we have got at this guy, he is exactly the player we need to get the crowd excited and off their feet.

No real links to us either.

Maybe we approached him and he had no interest in joining us, so there was nothing more to go at.

We were linked by some decent sources months back including Di Marzio. Then it came out that he wouldn't sign because he doesn't like our play style and it all went quiet  Can't really blame him.

He might be seen as the biggest talent in world football right now but signing a player with only 6 months experience of first team football for 120 -140 million is a massive gamble. There is no way to know how an 18 year old will handle the pressure that comes with such an fee and playing for a club like Real Madrid.

120m for Mbappe is just mental. Would certainly love to see us in the mix for him but for that sum of money stay away. Transfer proceeds are just getting more and more ridiculous. We won't be waiting much longer for the first half a billion player at this rate.

His price tag is completely out of order, then again when Barca paid £80m for Neymar I thought that was too much as well and that turned out to be a steal when compared to today's prices.

They'll end up getting him for 120 million euros or so and he's probably going to be worth it. He's always been highly rated so it's not just one season of success and with Cristiano now being Real Madrid's oldest player they need to get their hands on a young forward that guarantees goals for the future. That, Morata leaving, Benzema underperforming, Real's recent lack of spending and their shifting towards a 2 forward frontline means this makes too much sense for it not to happen. He seems to deal well with the pressure and it's not everyone out there that scores goals at 18yo in the Champions League knockouts, he has future Ballon D'Or written all over him.

I say let Madrid sign him and be in the market for him in 5 years when he has a little dip and they want to sign their next shiny toy.

I can't see him at Madrid for the next 10-12 years. So he'd have one decent move left in him at some point.

If we do by some miracle sign him, it'll be 3 seasons max until the Madrid rumours start every year and we'd be sick of it. End up selling him for his best years.

Absolutely right, then again everone was laughing at how much we paid for Martial, but he was great in his first season here. As for his drop off last season, that has a lot to do with his private life and his attitude. By all accounts from a lot of reports and a post from @JPRouve about him staying away from Jorge Mendes, it looks like Mbappe has his head screwed on right. He will prove a bargain in a couple of years.

If we're spending 50 mil. on Perisic, why not just throw an extra 50 mil. at Monaco and play Mbappe on the left side? We'll get 12 years out of him, or a few years plus profit if he wants to play for Real Madrid.

Because he's not a winger. Also because he obviously prefers Madrid. Signing players for the sake of signing them is part of the reason our squand is such a mess. Shoehorning more players is the last thing we need.

Mbappé is a weird player because he has always been extremely highly rated since he is 6, 7 years old, clubs competed for his signature when he was 13, he chose Monaco, "disappeared" while playing very well for Monaco and then seamlessly adapted to professional football. And last summer Monaco rejected big offers for him(+40m€).

So people probably need to take into account that he is currently doing what scouts expected him to do, he is not surprising anyone.

And Why are Man united scouts sleeping since fergie left? Did Moyes fired all of them

We signed players for a new philosophy, not for signing sake

The kid has played barely one season .

I understand the reservations but for me it was enough to see it. He was destroying everyone in last summer's U19 Euros too and has always been very highly rated, this is not just some kid who came out of nowhere. What he did this season was truly special. Who was the last 18yo that had a season as good as this? He has performed against some of the biggest teams in the world scoring and assisting at an absurd rate. Young forwards who perform in France usually don't disappoint either and if he doesn't get injured I'm 100% sure he'll be one of the best in the world soon enough.

People forget that he was a child prodigy -- clubs were looking at him since he was 14. He dad's a proper club coach.

My problem with him going to RM is -- will he get to start any more than Morata?

Morata will more than likely be gone and Morata was able to play enough to get 23 goals. Zidane likes to rotate so he would get his chance.

Mbappé would arrive like a super star and hige price tag so he will get opportunities and be forced into the starting XI if necessary and his only competition would be Benzema so it wouldn't be that hard to get him play time.

That being said, Morata has been better for you guys than Benzema this season, yet Benzema has always been first choice.

Doubt if Ronaldo will be happy playing 2nd fiddle to an 18y.o. And would they play well together?

Benzema starts due to his style. I think Marca had an article a week or two ago that Zidane doesn't see Mbappe as a must because of Bale, and he's the who's most likely not to start if Mbappe comes, especially since he spends half the time in the treatment table anyway.

Football has gone crazy when a kid who's had one good season has got clubs bidding more than 100m for him. I hope he stays at Monaco for another season. Moving too early to a bigger club, especially one with the demands of Madrid, could go very badly for him.

Yes, Morata and Benzema have different styles and it has been discussed plenty of times how Benzema is better to bring our other forwards in play and how he is a very selfless striker but he's also favored a lot by Florentino and we have got rid of very prolific strikers like Higuaín, Chicharito and presumably Morata now.

In all honestly I haven't seen a lot of this Mbappé kid but I think more of him like a long term replacement for Benzema/Ronaldo as he's very young. If he was transferred right away this season I reckon he wouldn't be starting ahead of Ronaldo or Benzema if both fit; maybe ahead of Bale. The thing is last season Ronaldo barely played at the beginning of the season and Bale was injured a lot of time and we were relying on the likes of Morata, Lucas Vázques and Asensio with Benzema also having a slow start. Next season is also planned for Ronaldo to have a proper rest so he will be missing the first month or two of incoming season, he's going to play less games and so I think even a kid like Mbappé could get plenty of game time.

It all depends of course on how much Zidane rates him and is willing to give him opportunites if not there's no point in bringing him but I still think we need someone to cover up for Benzema. He's a very frustrating player at times but I made up my mind he's not going anywhere.

... he has future Ballon D'Or written all over him.

Remember when Martial was going to win the Ball on d'or (and is now a bench warmer for us).
Or when L.Shaw was the best LB in the World (who is also a bench warmer for us).

People need to understand that out millions of players, all vying for that top spot, 99.99999% will never win the ballon d'or. To win that, you need to be a great player and not have any injuries and get incredibly lucky. Only then, will that player have a chance of winning that award.

One good season doesn't make a future ballon d'or winner. He'll need to have 3-4 great seasons (without major injury), after which he will move up the ballon d'or short list rankings.

I'm happy that we are not involved in this merry go round. We can't go around signing potential for 100m+. We need players who can instantly increase our level. Let others fight over him while we look for more reasonable targets and build a strong team.

When was that ever serious ? It is the same thing with MBappé even if he has much more potential than Martial and has accomplished far more than him in shorter time. These claims (ballon d'or winner) are just what they are and they often are contract elements but they have no basis on reality.

Guys on arsenal mania seem to think they have a good chance to sign him. Coz Wenger and stuff.
