Rashford was pretty clinical last year. Not so much this year. Let's see how Mbappe develops in the coming few years before succumbing to mass ritualistic worship.

Which backs up your point. He was bound to slow down. In general I agree, the money aspect is absurd, but Mbappe is undoubtedly very talented. Not sure, why you are being so defensive really, I don't think anybody here is disputing the fact that paying that kind of money is over the top. Also, weren't you one of those posters that always said it's not my money, so it shouldn't matter?

I would prefer Ousmane Dembele over Mbappe if I'm honest. But would be very happy to see Mbappe arrive nevertheless.

It would be cheaper ti buy the club than the player.

I guess our bid went somerhimg like this:

Woody: Name your price?

Monaco: We wont accept anything less than €45m

Woody: We will give you €90m, deal?

too late, i've already got the altar. Let's get this ritual worship on the road:cool:

Since you're a Madrid fan, this pleases me.

Seriously Raoul, did Mbappe kill your dog or something? Kid is one of the most promising young strikers in Europe, the money being touted is stupid no doubt, but you are acting like he's some chump, him, Gabriel Jesus, Moussa Dembele and Casper Dolberg are all clearly very good young strikers who will make their way to big clubs, we'd be wise to nab one of them.

The state of Bluemoon when they see that post.

He's incredibly clinical for his age.

He has the highest conversion rate in Europe's top 5 leagues (10+ goals) at 32% - there's no way he'll sustain that next season.

If going by the rumors today, surely Zlatan is leaving? We can't keep everyone happy when there are 4(potentially 5 if you consider Martial) for one striker position. I would like Zlatan to stay for another season but wont mind Mbappe being his replacement.

I bet Monaco are secretly hoping that we come in for him, we're the only ones gullible enough to pay something like 90m Euros for him.

Then again really if you think about it and the prices paid for Martial and that predator looking guy at Bayern then the market is already seriously inflated, and a Martial fee + £20m won't be that silly.

Really says it all about where football is at though when you can buy small companies on the stock exchange for the price of a teenager.

We ruined the market when we signed Martial. Its the going rate nowadays. Plus added burden of huge transfer fee.

Might actually not be a bad thing however strange that may sound. We've effectively taken away most teams chances of signing the best youngsters with the exception of a select few clubs. United can afford it so no problem for us, sad shit for Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal etc. though.

Do people seriously believe we're going to sign an 18 year old who has only ever played 33 league games for a world record fee of £95m?

We did pretty similar with Martial, although not a world record fee.

Did people think we would pay €80m (all in) for a relatively unheard of Anthony Martial two seasons ago? No.

Mbappé is getting loads of attention/hype, whereas up until deadline day, not many people were even talking about Martial. Attention/hype = bigger transfer fee being mentioned in the press.

Does anyone know where I can get a1 posters of Mbappe?
I suspect they will be worth a coupled hundreds in the future.

Funny how football fans love a new shiny toy. Quickly moved on from Martial & Rashford onto the next flavour of the month. £95m

I genuinely don't understand this. Is that impossible to appreciate and rate all three of them?

It was about 1000 times more believable than this, to me at least.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing right after the Martial transfer, but then somehow Dortmund ended up scooping Ousmane Dembele for around 15 million euro. Feckers.

As good as he's looked since the turn of the year for Monaco am I the only one who can't get excited for this one?

Just feels like the last thing we need is another prospect, especially one who pretty much plays in exactly the same position as the last French teenager we signed from Monaco who has struggled big time this season

Let him stay at Monaco or if someone else wants him let him go there, I hope we don't get involved in this one

Do people genuinely think that Mourinho will let 18 year old kid with 33 league appearances so far to lead his attack? All that in Jose second season, the one where many will expect even title challenge. Based on Jose reputation so far. No.

He will probably still have a 35 year old to do that, should he choose to.

And I can't think why Mourinho would give two shits how old Mbappé is so long as he can produce.

The Mbappe hype has gotten completely out of hand & I guess I'm the bad guy for refusing to partake in it.

I don't think anyone cares if you partake or not while you seem bothered when others do.

It's not like my posts in this thread have been grounded or anything, or @Raoul who has been debating with like 3 different posters about it... It's all you, man.

Wouldn't surprise me if the fee he leaves Monaco for is about £90m but it'll be highly incentive based.

We'd be stupid not to buy him with that sort of deal. If he truly is a once in a generation standard of player he's more than worth it.

If you could sign a 18 year old Messi, Ronaldo etc to play for us for the next 10-15 years for that price, in this day and age you'd be stupid to say no.

First point. If he choose Ibra then he will have a top talent stuck on the bench or on the wrong position for the whole year. Don't see why Mbappe would move to United in that case.

Second, I also can't think why Mourinho would give two shits how old is his main striker if he can produce, but so far in his career he gave two shits about it.
He didn't even give Martial a chance this year on a striker position and he proved that he can produce there at the age of 19.

Maybe am wrong but can't see this happening.

Do you agree the hype is ridiculous at this point. Seen a surprising amount of people claim he's the next Henry despite us yet to see if he's anywhere near the dribbler/playmaker he was. Even seen someone claim he's as good as Ronaldo Fenemeno was. :wenger:

He's obviously a brilliant talent & probably headed for Madrid soon but I need to see more before I start making such claims. I think his numbers are heavily inflated since he's playing in the most attacking team in Europe.

Agreed 100%. People are getting intoxicated by their own fantasies.
