I think the bid is going to go up even more. We are still in March and we are talking about 110 million!
I think Madrid will bid. Yesterday he appeared on the cover of Marca and As, referring to him as the jewel of the market, and today Pedrerol, a journalist pro Florentino is repeating the same story "Madrid can not leave the opportunity", "the new Ronaldo.."blabla...
However, I also agree with Raoul. Every day there is a new promise. What happened to Dembele in these 2 last months?
Yeah but that's just the media with an element of wishful thinking.
I think Hazard is Madrid bound this summer, it would allow Ronaldo to move inside.
Would he sign for Madrid if they tell him he'll play on the left?

That kind of transfer will severely hinder what we can spend on strengthening other areas of the pitch, even though we have the money. Besides, we could buy players of the Neymar ilk around those prices, not an unproven kid, regardless of how good he may become
What leads you to believe that?

What leads you to believe that?

There are several positions we need strengthening in imo, a CB, a LB (possibly), a CM or two a RB(as rotation/competition for Valencia) and an attacking player. If we were to spend 100m+ on one, I don't see us being able to strengthen other positions on the pitch, considering the standard we should be looking for will be in the 30-40m range. I doubt we will spend around 200m+ considering how much we spent last summer window.

The game is crazy, one season and just 18 goals to his name and he's being linked with 100m transfers...madness. He looks good but Jesus Christ.

I would rather sign other players for that money. Silva and Fabinho we could get easily for that sum and they seem exactly what we need to. They are a sure thing as you can get at this level. If Ibra stays, paying so much for Mbappe would be a bit too much for me. I would also prefer Griezmann.

I think we wont get him anyway in the end, but who knows.

Agreed there bud, the game is so out of touch with the real world, though the irony is that we're (the consumers) partly to be blamed for that as well!

I'm assuming the source isn't reliable ?

L'Equipe shut it down pretty quickly last night.

I also find it weird how a Spanish outlet would know the news before French media. I would say English but they're clueless over here.

People believing we will spend 100M on a 18 year old  sure..

I think Martial money will be realistic, he would definitely be worth a similar deal.

If we are paying €80m overall for Martial, Monaco have every right to demand €110m all included for Mbappe.

Not necessarily.

If the consensus is that Mbappé is better than Martial (rightly or wrongly), then Martial's price will work in the opposite way. It would be said that 'if the same selling club and the same buying club can agree Martial was worth €80m, then surely Mbappé is worth €100m'.

Griezmann, Mbappe, Fabinho, Semedo & Bonucci/Varane*

I'm ready!

*Must qualify for the Champions League!
We'd almost certainly need to spend in excess of £200m to acquire all those players. Even with our wealth I just don't see it

You can name a price all you like, doesn't mean clubs will pay it. Mbappe looks fantastic but I don't think any club will want to risk paying that much, especially on the back of half a season pretty much.

It would probably be best for him to stay there and prove it with 1 more year, then move.

Don't believe the story myself. If Ibra stays he will not play as a main striker for the large parts of next season. There is no way that Ibra will agree to reduced role. Ibra is more than willing to help young teammates with their development but only if he is in the center of things. We could move him behind Ibra but we already have good options for that. Maybe on RW but I think he didn't play much there.

Also, this doesn't look like Jose buying at all. In his second year Jose will probably start to feel some pressure in terms of serious title challenge especially if he spends big money again. Buying such a young but unproven talent who can't even play in his best position doesn't make much sense to me. I think he will go for other already established players.

And although Mbappe is a huge talent and I think he has a chance of becoming a great player, you can only roll your eyes at the price tag been mentioned. Above that transfer fee, give the 18 year old kid £200,000 a week, and then wonder in 2 years time why he doesn't work so hard in training.

who is better? Moussa or Ousmane? would you pay 100 m€ for any of them? do you think that Mbappe is better?

Ousmane. I think quite a few clubs would be ready to pay the release clause for Ousmane, he is the most talented teenager in Europe and also the one with most potential. Mbappe, for me is probably on par with Martial.

I don't see it either, but you'd imagine we'd trim our squad as well and hopefully Woodward is getting better at negotiating sales.

Well as some have mentioned the transfer fee for an unproven in the premier leagur teenager is ridiculous. Look how much martial has and will cost us and thats only half what mbappe will cost. We should only be paying this for established experienced wc players

Need this to become more concrete before I camp out here

Something or someone will pop up to keep us busy over the summer

Griezmann, Mbappe, Fabinho, Semedo & Bonucci/Varane*

I'm ready!

*Must qualify for the Champions League!

Holy:eek:

I'm ready!

Ssshhh.. get on board the train, all aboard! Choooo chooo

Let the trains gentle rocking lull you to sleep as we await the summer of a century

The muppets are stirring from their winter slumber.

Soon the fat reserves gained from the Summer of Pog will be fully depleted and they will arise to gorge anew on even richer and wholesome prey.

Many young players do and many wind up not as good as their hype. Just look at Memphis - 28 goals in Holland as a 19 year old and a complete implosion once he moved to a bigger league. You just never know.
There's been so many poor players who have great numbers in Holland. Depay, Altidore, Kuyt, Afonso Alves, Kezman etc. The French league is far better imo

Plus he has performed in the CL. I do agree with your overall point about mbappe as his dribbling ability doesn't seem that great and I'm not really sure about him being an elite talent that warrants this kind of fee. But I've only watched a few of his games and if Mourinho thinks he's worth this kind of money then I would be happy with the purchase

Ousmane Dembele looks like a future world beater, I would prefer him

I don't think we do. All we need is a quality CDM and a top class attacker to add more goals. Maybe another player or two to add squad depth, but these would be cheaper options.

There will be a lot of wages off the books this year (over 600k per week for Basti, Rooney, Memphis, Schneiderlin - with even more to follow) so there will be plenty of funds and wages available.

United badly needs a good ball playing center back.

An AS Monaco executive has denied receiving any Manchester United offer for Kylian Mbappe in recent weeks, according to L’Equipe.
Cadena Cope stated the Old Trafford club made two offers for Mbappe, one one for €80m and the second at a record-breaking €110m.
Man United allegedly submitted a second offer after the first leg of Manchester City’s Champions League tie against Monaco, but a club official has rubbished reports.

“ASM has not received any offer from any club and in any case has no desire to sell Kylian,” he said via Sport Witness.

Ahh yes, the league comparison game once again. Works well when we're sizing up Zlatan's 50 goals last year ("but defending in the French league is shit"...) as well as when we're comparing the Memphis with Mbappe (its soo much easier to score in Holland). For what its worth - the very same Memphis has 5 goals in 9 league appearances at Lyon, where as Mbappe has 12 in 22. Give Memphis an entire year there and he'll lead the league in scoring.

Majority of Mbappe's league appearances have been subs - 6 of which have been appearances lasting less than 10 minutes. Memphis has played 10 league games and not 9 either.

Memphis is currently averaging a goal every 130 minutes whereas Mbappe is every 80 minutes.

Special like how ? Everything I've seen so far shows a promising young player, but nothing more.

He's incredibly clinical for his age.

Pogba for comparison:

Compared to Aubameyang:

With the xG (expected goals) model, he had been projected to score slightly above 5 goals, yet he had 10, when this was up to date. Now he has 12 league goals plus 7 cup goals. Using that same model, which quantifies chances, we should be in second place in the EPL when it comes to the difference between xG for and xG against us.

Rashford was pretty clinical last year. Not so much this year. Let's see how Mbappe develops in the coming few years before succumbing to mass ritualistic worship.

Rashford is now considered a poor finisher who should be loaned out.

I am not too excited about Hazard so hopefully they will try someone else.
I guess that if he signs he will have to coexist with Cristiano for a while keeping a low profile(Mbappe)
Griezmann keeps saying that is fine at Atlético so maybe the United offer is real
