Kylian Mbappé joins PSG on one year loan with option to buy

Dude its early june. Transfer window hasnt even opened yet relax. Woodward knows what he is doing. Even if we sign mbappe hes 18, we arnt going to rely on him scoring 35 goals to win the league next season, the plan for a centre forward is probably seperate.
I am relaxed, I did state that it's still possible for us to get a quality left back and centre mid and address the striker position another time, when better possibilities arise. Belotti/Perisic are not the answer, I can tell you that much. Morata is AC Milan bound, Auba is off to PSG and Everton's demand for Lukaku is insane. What options are left?

I want him to succeed if we end up signing him but I have my reservations regarding this one. I just think that he's being overrated because of some good performances he had in the Champions League.

Weren't you raving about him a few weeks ago?

If we want morata theres no way ac milan can out bid us. But morata has always been a wierd target, more about real wanting to sell than us wanting to buy. He hasnt played that much last season, has never been prolific in his career and isnt the box finisher mourinho wants (see chicharito comments). Dortmund just said no aubameyang bid has been received. In my opinion it will be between aubameyang/lukaku/belotti.

I think the clubs preferrence is lukaku because he is home grown and most of our current homegrown players are old or underperforming and will be pushed out soon. But lukaku has 2 years left and 1 more season at everton may benefit him. Belotti is probably seen as a 1 season stop gap and future squad option but must come at the right price 50 euros max probably. In my opinion aubameyang is the best of the lot but his age will mean we prioritise him the lowest, which is a pity.

One more thing is the club doesnt sign off form players so muller is out. We also dont sign players who have just suffered long term injuries so bale is also out. For the sums of money involved this is just being prudent. For those complaining about how limited and tight the centre forward market is, this season is actually a buyers market with multiple new options on offer as opposed to 3 seasons ago when falcao and martial were signed because there frankly wasnt anyone available, not even promising young centre forwards.

According to lequipe, we are the club least likely to sign him because of our style of football which Mbappe don't like.

This was always a possible problem when we hired the most negative manager around who has such strict ideas on height and such things.

As long as he wins, that shite will be irrelevant. Next season is make or break, no more excuses for him or the players.

He's definitely not the new R9, no one can come close to that for an entire career, I'm not sure the human body can actually handle it. He's a new breed, and could be just as good in his own way but the pressure of a world-record fee is a lot for anybody, let alone an 18 year old kid. With Griezmann being out of the picture, I can see an added focus to try to get him. I'm not sure how true the reports are that he is not enthused with United's playing style but if he does come here, it will seriously hinder another talented youngster in Rashford because Kylian's not coming without the starting job locked down. Personally, I prefer Mbappe over Rashford, but I think Rashford can do a serviceable job along with Martial in attack if we get some actual real wingers and Fabinho.

If we're going to get any attacking players not named Griezmann, I'd go with Dembele over anybody in world football. He is the real deal, just as much as Mbappe is and is only 20.

It's slightly amusing to see this thread being constantly bumped tonight. Don't do it to yourselves, this one isn't happening. The second Monaco show a sight lowering of their guard every big club in Europe will be there with blank cheque books. This is the most likely Real Madrid transfer I've seen since Ronaldo.

Maybe to younger fans, but not to many from my generation and older.

We've been dire for years, getting back to being a winning unit is the most important thing. Pretty football etc. can come once that is achieved. People forget we've been shit for the good part of half a decade now, we need to first and foremost get a winning mentality back in this club. Then again though, that's just my opinion. I can understand why some people would like to be excited too.

Agree....he's one of the best young players I have seen in 10+ years. He would be my dream signing and I reckon If we offered 60 million for him, Dortmund would consider it

Rashford and Mbappe are so similar in style too. It really wouldn't be good news for Rashford.

We've not played consistently good football since we lost Ronaldo and Tevez IMO, there's been patches here and there but we've been a workmanlike team for a long while, but I am not bothered about trophies while playing shite, lets get our identity right and build it into trophies.

 60? No chance. Why would they consider that?

They wouldn't unless he handed in a transfer request. He would be amazing though. Mbappe is not happening to be honest, I think we should just wait until better players are available in order to strengthen up front. Sort out left back and centre mid options this summer and get a solid back up option until Ibra is back for now. Griezmann fecked us over here big time  I have a feeling Mourinho was certain this was nailed on.

Aren't they not selling their best player in Aubameyang for 60 million to PSG? I'm not saying they would sell for 60 million but it's a starting offer

Considering they got Dembele for 15 million, which is incredible in this day and age, I think a 60m offer is definitely a start.

This is detached from reality. First of all he's not leaving this summer. Second of all when he eventually leaves it will most likely be for north of £100m. He's not just an Angel Di Maria, the guy's potential is abnormal and Dortmund know that. There is no better young talent in world football. If he goes for a Pogba fee it would be an absolute bargain.

 at arsenal aparently "bidding" 100 m. They know at least 3 other clubs will outbid them. "Sure Arsene, i'll just fax this offer and mark it as 'pending' on our whiteboard of targets" :wenger:

Think somebody pointed out already that this may be connected with Arsene's new contract. Pretending that they're backing him 100% to a target that they won't obtain, yet the intent is there.

Its just like before he signed a new contract though :D

They know his potential, but 60-80m is nothing to be sneezed at. Between the coaching change and their best player leaving, he could be tempted by a move and Dortmund is a selling club that would make potentially a 50-60m return on an investment that was just one year old and they can seriously rebuild with their two sales.

With that said, it'd definitely be a challenge to take him this summer you're right. I agree with you on his potential too. The only worry I have with him is his mentality, something I don't have with Mbappe.

Aye. Mbappe will simply join the 'nearly signed by Wenger' team now amongst many fantastic names. They'll have a 'at least we tried' card until the inevitable Kroenke & Wenger out signs pop up everywhere.

    • Mbappe 'doesn't know if he will stay at Monaco'
New City signing Bernardo Silva told RMC Sport:

“Honestly, I think even he does not know if he’s going to stay or go.

“He’s a fantastic player who had an incredible second half of the season. I think he is [happy] in Monaco, but if he goes to a big club to play it’s also very good for him.

“He’s very young and it would be nice to stay a year longer, but his age is incredible, so you never know.”

I think we should buy this guy.

This is my sole contribution to silly season.

Whoever ends up paying the 130-150m euros they seem to want will be crazy and will make the striker transfer market so much more difficult for us.

Will they also label it as a waste of money like Martial?

Just a reflection on what Bernardo said. He's played with him and trained with him and he's not bigging him up half as much as you guys on here. #JustSayin

So can you see a push from us now as the marquee signing seeing that Greasy Hair is not coming?

Crazy - Arsenal paying that kind of money!

I think there has been a discussion at board level tied in with Wenger signing a new contract that they are going to go big in the transfer market. I expect them to surprise people with the players they bring in.

87m. Rejected. Jebus. Not sure which one dumber. Monaco or Arsenal. I understand he looked great this season and. But isn't it this is his first season as professional?
There are tonnes of young players out there who look to have everything in this world to become another superstar, but they end up don't.

Yep. At the end of the day, he has had one really great second half of a season. Let's not go overboard just yet.

How much truth was City's rejected bid of 130m Euros then? Why would Arsenal bid 30 lower if the City bid was real? Makes no sense. And don't say, because it is Arsenal, because they are trying to say to the fans that they tried blah, blah, blah, because that stance won't wash with the fans after knowing City's bid.

He is worth whatever clubs are willing to pay.

Is there any proof that City actually made a formal bid though?
