We are talking about a player who would cost over £100M to buy, we'd put him on the 5+1 deal we did with Pogba, I'd be confident of him being here at minimum 4 years and a LOT can happen in that time like Real buying someone else for his role or him falling in love with our club.

I'm a fan of the kid, but he seems to be one of those players who absolutely dreams of playing for Real Madrid. While that was also the case with CR, we bought him when he was not as much of a glowing star as Mbappe is right now. We raised Ronaldo, which is why he stayed for us as long as he did. I doubt Mbappe would do the same.

True, but we'd also have to look for another striker yet again. At the same time, if Mbappe really performs that well, then we'll have an outstanding striker for a season or two, which could definitely get us back to winning ways. So f' it, go all in for the kid if he's ready to come here.
He's got no reported allegiance to Madrid or zidane, just purely grew up as a CR7 fan. That doesn't mean he will want to move to Madrid, he's got to think of his career first.

Yeah, that's the point really, even if he stays for 2-3 years and he'd be hell bent on leaving to Madrid, we'd still have a great striker for that time and most likely a world record fee that we could invest in the new striker. Who knows, perhaps a new wonder kid would emerge in that time.

That is exactly the point I was making. 60 goals is a gross over exaggeration but people are raving about Kane and his scoring record deserves great credit but does he have the strength and all round game of Shearer, the pace of Owen, the trickery of Suarez, the penalty area instincts of Ruud or Lineker, the movement in the box of Romario.....of course he doesnt. I have said several times he is a good player and a good finisher doing very very well but he is massively over rated too in this country with the very poster I was responding too labelling "the kid is a superstar"....no.....he isnt

We will turn this into a straight out bidding war. If griezmann is out of the equation and he is now our number one priority then we have more than enough money to bid even 130 to 150 pounds including add ons. Whether this is wise and he turns out as hoped who knows but this kid is clearly the biggest young talent to hit the market since neymar. I can see why from woodwards and the boards perspective he is a must win statement of intent and we will do whatever it takes to sign him.

Agreed, I really hope we're not in for him at that money. Yes, the kid is a very good footballer and reminds me so much of Brazilian Ronaldo but £100m is robbery. He's had 7 good months in a team who are playing above themselves. That kind of money should be for well established world class players like Griezmann, Bale, Neymar not some kind whose had a good season.
So Zidane, Pep, Wenger and even Mourinho are all idiots for realizing how talented this guy is? If you've seen him play you'd know hes the real deal. The price is ridiculous for any player imo but these clubs are not idiots for wanting a player with such immense talent.

That money could easily be seen as a snip in 2/3 years. You won't get him for less than 100 million sterling now.

As his legal troubles have shown, barcelona paid 86 euros for neymar and that was 4 years ago. Mbappe will cost a world record fee, no doubt about it. He is 18, can be a home grown player, if he makes it, amortized over his career the fee will be seen as a steal even at 120+ 50 in add ons. If he fails well, caveat emptor but we can afford to take the financial hit. The only thing hard to assess is his attitude and desire. Technically he has everything,if the club assesses he has the mentality to want to be the best in the world, it really is a no brainer.
Not going to lie, if we miss out on him too, which is very likely, we will struggle to bring in a world class attacker this summer. Plan C will be in motion very soon, hopefully we still recruit a quality centre mid and left back.

Dude its early june. Transfer window hasnt even opened yet relax. Woodward knows what he is doing. Even if we sign mbappe hes 18, we arnt going to rely on him scoring 35 goals to win the league next season, the plan for a centre forward is probably seperate.
