Personally, I don't think Rashford is overrated in terms of potential, but in terms of his current level he is massively overblown. Very young player, very early in his development, physically and mentally. A good 18 months away from being a top level first team starter. Personally, I think things could click with Martial a LOT more quickly up front.

Mbappe simply looks phenomenal to me, in every respect. Plus, he looks a natural starting out wide, whereas Martial loooks like he's being held there at gunpoint.

Dont think he is massivley overblown. I do think his current level the one thing really letting him down is the consistency of his finishing. Until he can get that right he really cant be our number one striker in the system we currently use.

This is where I kind of agree with you though, Martial is the better finisher over Rashford and Mbappe is almost all the best parts of Martial and Rashford combined from what I have seen of him.

why buy Mbappe for 100 million when 100/120 would probably get us harry kane

Personal opinion but Harry Kane can win you premiership titles but not the champions league. In terms of levels I think the ceiling with Mbappe is several above Harry Kane. Never been a fan of Kane though cant argue with his stats and his finishing has been consistently good. I saw Lineker comparing him to Ronaldo in being fearless in terms of shooting from everywhere....I find in Kane that is a weakness rather than a strength though and sums up what I dont rate, he doesnt seem aware of anything around him to me but the goal.....and yes Ruud may have been similar in that respect too. I think Kane is one of the most over rated English players in my lifetime even though it is harder as each year goes by for me to argue that point as he keeps scoring. I think he is a good player but not a great one.

Just baffling.

Sounds like you just don't like Kane for whatever reason.

The guy is an absolute superstar in the making.

And anyone who can 'win you premier leagues' is also good enough to potentially win you CLs.

Yes to be fair you are correct, I have remained stubborn in my disdain for him fro nearly three years :) Even though overly so, a superstar in the making I still state is a massive over exaggeration. If Kane was put on the market tomorrow for £60m for example....I firmly believe the only interest in him would be from premiership clubs

I'm with you mate, the premier league isn't a strong league at the minute, Kane Lukaku for example even benteke aren't the best I've seen.
The amount of money to sign Kane would be crazy for the talent you'd get back.

Why are people talking about Harry Kane winning you a league? They have blown it on two different occasions. Both times, the team who won it, were no where to be seen the year before. I'm sorry to say, Spurs is an almost team. Kane has not won a single thing for this Sputs team and did nothing in Europe. Hell, he did nothing at the Euro Championships. I don't see the fuss

That's not true, Kante can win you a PL but he wont win you the CL, nor will Hazard. The difference between PL and the Barcelona's, Real, Bayern, Juventus, PSG's, Dortmund's you have to face is significant.

He has Ronaldo / Messi levels of scoring, he is better then Henry in terms of that... the kid is a superstar

Would you say he will become as good as Shearer or a young Michael Owen for example? He is being talked at as leading the line and being a star striker for England for years to come, I dont see it. Could you see him playing for Barca, Bayern or Real Madrid in the future, I dont see it. I may be stubborn and blind to this in the future as I never saw him continuing his great first season but I still genuinely dont see a great striker regardless of the stats he is producing in terms of goals each season so far.

I mean, I don't know what to say if you can't see that he is a brilliant player. It was obvious that he was never a 1 season wonder.

Appearances - 116
Goals - 78
Assists - 12

So next season he will have 100 goals in 140 matches or less. Peter Crouch took 510? Took get 100 goals, thats "an average" striker, Harry Kane is not.

This kid just finds corners and scores.

Unless he's potentially the new Neymar, I can't see us going for him now. Nor that he would chose us. And we have Rashford and Martial, two similar players, we need cover in other positions.

I don't think he's a great player more a good player but what he is, is a great goal scorer and that's something we could do with (Kane). I'd all be for buying Kane or Lukaku due to their ability to find the back of the net. We can accommodate their short comings with the players around them.

This makes no sense to me. He is a finisher and one of the most lethal in the league, what do you want him to do? 3 seasons in a row scoring over 20 league goals, that's great going by any standard.

He won't ever become as good as Shearer. Shearer had a lot more to his game. If Shearer played today he would get 60 goals a season in a top side. He was better than Luis Suarez.

Mbappe is a generational talent. How many 18 year olds have we seen who scored in big European games and contributed 30+ goals/assists in all competitions? The kid makes finishing look easy.

I hope you mean in all competitions because that will make this statement slightly less ridiculous.

I'd like to see how Martials first season stats with us compare to his 16/17 season.

Yes. Why is it ridiculous at all?

Strikers in those days scored less, a 1 in 2 record at the top level was considered world class. Shearer was a complete number 9. 3rd place Ballon D'Or in 1996 playing for Newcastle. He would have won it if he signed for us and we would have won more CL titles. That signing was Fergie's biggest miss.

Because goals scored have not risen that much.

Wow. Cheers. That is some picture to look at though, especially when you look per 90. He's miles ahead, granted it is the French league but he's done very well in CL too. Anyone reckon we're even remotely interested in him though given the fees quoted? And would he not be a little too similar to Rashford and Martial both in style (I know he's not literally the exact same) and development/age?

Problem for me is that all three can't hold up the ball, be a target man and lead the line, and nor can Griezmann. So I don't see any of them being good partners to Griezmann in a two up top system similar to Atletico's or France's. However, in a Real or Barca style 4-3-3 with a more on thr floor style of playing then I could see Martial/Rashford-Mbappe-Griezmann working but that requires a big shift in personnel and system, eg. buying Rose and Semedo.

This is exactly what i was trying to get at, he doesnt really provide an alternative in that sense to Martial/Rashford and Rashfords inability to hold the ball up really shows when hes the lone man.

Show them per 90 metrics always, and Mbappe wins in every single statistic..
Yeah and by no small margin either. I really wanted his shot conversion percentage but they don't have it. Its stats like that that tell me he'd be good anywhere. My only question mark over him is how much of this is form and how he is when not on form. And of course how to partner him. I don't see Griezmann offering a similar partnership to Falcao for him. Tbh the formation and partnerships that Jose has in mind is a huge mystery-can't wait for pre-season already.

Think those are good questions, no one has the answer really. We may see it for France and in the coming seasons whether that's his true level or form.

People here prefer Rashford to Kane, let alone Mbappe lol

When Kane was Rashford' age he was playing for Milwall and L Orient....Rashford has more potential than Kane ever had, will he reach that? god knows but nobody knows about Mbappe either.

Could we be turning our attentions here then if we're not after Griezmann anymore? Who else is there? Lukaku and that Italian chap? Moratti seems Italy bound.

Sorry I'm not buying United are cooling off interest for Griezmann because they have just realised they need to replace a 36 year old who has been injured for two months who is out until January.

Yeah I think you're right to be skeptical. Would be very Woody-like to release that story to get the price down.

Can I ask what more exactly Shearer had to his game? And why the comparison to Suarez, they are nothing alike. No doubt he would be s goal machine but I doubt he would be scoring 60 s season lol, it's worth noting that Shearer nearly always had a strike partner with him.
