Agreed. They are going to sell several other players like Fabinho, Bakayoko, Mendy and possibly Bernardo Silva, so will likely not need any money for new transfers.

Would they even sell so many? They're not a poor club. Probably comes down to who they can most easily replace.

Every club gets rejected/miss out sometimes. I can't imagine it being a big deal apart from fans having dick swinging arguments.
 
I'd love to see him stay at Monaco. If he can replicate his form another year and have a great WC, the fee will only get bigger. Its also better for him to stay where he is so he can develop without the pressure of a record breaking fee.

If clubs are willing to bid RW fees I would say they are fairly confident also.

It's pretty clear this guy isn't just in a purple patch, his game is to polished already. The things he does are genuinely very good, just like Gabriel jesus clearly isn't just having a good few games.

That's what they're gambling on. I'd say it is admirable, but Rybolovlev is stinking rich so what's €100m anyways?

They can afford to keep him.

He and Gabriel Jesus are similar quality imo. Jesus moved for about 30m.

I know you've got reservations about the money, and sure I agree it's bonkers. But you have to pay a premium for the most wanted players in the world, it's the same with pogba. Yes he wasn't technically worth that amount, but it's what we had to pay to secure him.

If we have to pay £120m to get mbappe then I say sod it, why the hell not? That's 4 fellainis.

My point is City managed to get an Mbappe type in Gabriel Jesus for 30m. I don't care about the money to be honest, if we have it then go for it, but at the same time it can't be something so ridiculously disproportionate compared to what City paid for Jesus. If the Sugar Daddy clubs want to get into a bidding war then its best we step away and look elsewhere.

Yeah looks like he could be a steal, Brazilian league players are always difficult to judge though but I think he only had a year left on his contract which is why he was fairly cheap.

I'm pretty shocked if the 100m rejection is true though, perhaps they're hoping we come in with an even bigger bid.
 
There's no chance we're getting this guy. I think people might want to prepare for that before being put on suicide watch when his transfer to Madrid is announced.

Yeah, don't think we'll get him either. Similar to the Benzema deal where we will probably do what we can but the player ends up preferring Real.

In any case, I'm still interested to see what happens of him. Would be great to see him at any big club that's not a rival to ours domestically. He's an exciting talent.

Sadly, if the 103m fee is correct, Monaco won't entertain anything less, so in the end this may be Perez's problem to deal with.

I think the press just pulled a figure out of their ass,sounds too convenient...(they bid but it was rejected anyway)
 
He's on Telefoot right now, extremely evasive when asked if he knows if he'll still be at Monaco next season. Says he's not been thinking about it and will only consider his options once he's done with the national team.
 
Hard to tell if we are interested and to what extent.

Most of the noise if coming from Real so far.

Monaco would be crazy to reject a transfer this summer at world record prices. If he has a slightly less special second season, his price is going to drop - maybe significantly. But if he has an equally impressive season, it'll stay about the same. I'd say the risk outweighs the reward.
 
If there was a £103m bid made by Real then I'd expect the Spanish press would've broke the story not someone from the Telegraph.
