If Di Marzio says Mourinho wants Mbappe, then I believe him without a doubt.

Hell, if he said the earth was flat I'd believe him:lol:.

The narative earlier in the season of us wanting a striker and Griezmann could be true perhaps?

Although, I'm starting to wonder about whether Ibra will stay now. If Mourinho wants Mbappe, and spends a ridicolous amount on him, we either play 2 strikers or Ibra isn't here anymore.

If we got Griezmann AND Mbappe, what happens to Ibra doesn't concern me in the slightest

We won't though, that'd be like 200m+ on only two positions when we need to strengthen defence and midfield too

It would be too much money, but maybe Mourinho says to Woodward he needs this to move up a level and really compete. If they trust Mourinho I think they'd give him what he'd want. Could sign Griezmann, Mbappe, Fabinho, and a centre back perhaps? I imagine the Mbappe fee would be something around €60m and the rest to be paid on certain conditions being fulfilled and met? I think this summer will be very intriguing.

Gotta be the weakest midfield two I've ever seen  We would literally have no-one in the middle of the pitch
it's a midfield 3. still horrible though

Possibly the end of Mata if true, add his fee to Morgan and Depay and that should match Griezmann's clause.
Frees up the funds for Mbappe and a few In's and out's to pay for a defender or DM.

Ya, was talking about those two though. Assuming Kessie would be closer to the defence, we'd be empty in the middle of the pitch as both Pogba and Mickyt would be further up.

Mbappe's broken through as a striker but IMO his best position is still as a left winger/forward, similar to Cristiano Ronaldo who he's apparently a fan of. Getting him would mean we can play 433 which also gets the best out of Pogba.

Is this our way of taking pressure off Pogba by making Mbappe the new world record transfer? :p

Do you think? I honestly think his finishing is ridiculous, so much so he needs to play as a striker.

He seems different to Martial, who to me, strikes me as a left winger/forward type. Martial uses his pace, and close control to go past players and create his own openings. We seen that many times last season, and glimpses this season for reasons of lack of play time and poor form.

Whilst Mbappe, from what I've seen, seems to be good with a lay off, has good movement, calm finishing, and reminds me of the old Ronaldo at times when I've watched him. I don't think Mbappes dribbling is his best asset though, whilst Ronaldo had that in abundance, but Mbappes direct approach of "how can I get this ball in the net" is equisite to watch and it's where I see similarities in his play.

Mkhitaryan that far back ?

He has played that type of role before for Shakhtar and certainly has the legs to fulfill the role. Obviously it's not his best positon though and Herrera would be a more conventional fit. It's just such a shame to leave a player as great as Mkhitaryan out of the team. Using that diamond system (we most likely won't use it, just my vision) means that Mkhitaryan would have to play as backup to Griezmann. He's too good for that though so it's definitely a difficult situation to handle.

he has time to develop in Monaco, he's quality and future star but really he's got very little over Rashford, who plays this year not in his best position, he would shine in Monaco in mbappe's position easily

If Mbappe really wants to follow in Ronaldo's footsteps it's only logical that he joins us.

That team wouldn't win the league, though.
You can't rely on 2 teenage strikers to get the goals required to win a league.

Agreed 100%.
He looks good, for 18, but 100M Euros is ridiculous.
For that money, I'd expect a player who is in the top 10 of Ball on Dor list, ie. a player who is already in his absolute prime. Someone like Suarez.

It's gonna be a long summer in the CAF that's for sure!

I don't see him maintaining his ridiculous conversion rate for the rest of his career; Rashford's finishing was probably just as clinical last season but it hasn't been the same. Mbappe's dribbling style is more suited out wide instead of middle which is why his dribbling this season hasn't been all that, but he was an unplayable winger at youth level.

I pulled this comment off of youtube and it summarises exactly what I think.

...this season, all three of them [Martial, Rashford, Mbappe] combined have scored only three league goals more than Zlatan. If you consider that Mbappe plays in the easy French league, I wouldn't expect this trio to score more than Zlatan alone. This is real football, not football manager or FIFA. We certainly don't need another kid in our offense. With 100m we could get a real world class player, not an unproven kid who might turn out good but could very well flop.

Zlatan also has the worst conversation rate of any top striker in the league, meanwhile Mbappe has one of the best conversion rates in Europe. Not to add, he's doing it in the Champions league too, while Zlatan is bottling one on one chances against Stoke City.

Age really doesn't matter when you're as good as Mbappe is. Monaco are winning the league with younguns, they're in the final stages of the CL and could go even further as it's completely plausible they could beat Dortmund (Who funnily enough, also have a young squad)

It's no coincidence Monaco is the best attacking side in the world atm and Mbappe is a key player for them.

Man, we're gonna be so good next season with the signings we've (practically) already made...

De Gea
Semedo Lindelof Gimenez
Fabinho Brozovic Bakayoko
Perisic Pogba Greizmann
Mbappe

Think we need to upgrade De Gea though...

You have a RB but no LB? Also if you're going full muppet why is Perisic, Lindelof and Brozovic there? :nono:

That is the most outrageously unbalanced team I've seen anyone suggest in a long time...

Di Marzio chiming in certainly makes this feel more tangible, I can see the Real Madrid fear has already seeped into the thread, I wouldn't be surprised if they went for Andre Silva.

We could outbid them

Don't think we would - if they want a marquee player I'd imagine its within their reach to get him.

IIRC correctly they didn't want to splash 100m on Pogba because they didn't see a need to with Kroos and Modric at the helm. But if Perez/Zidane think they have the next Ronaldo replacement (who is 32 now), I can imagine them giving zero fecks and bringing him in.

We have Martial and Rashford. Do we need a third forward of the same cloth?

He looks very good but 110€ million? And double that to get Griezmann also? Come on guys, this isn't FIFA 16.
