Kwadwo Asamoah

What? We had a bid accepted for Hazard, we have bid for Kagawa. The no money thing is really starting to grate. We spent over 50 million last season so we have the money. Obviously upto now either Ferguson has felt that we don't need a midfielder or that the right player hasn't become available

Last year it was the Ronaldo money. In terms of net spent () we're behind Stoke FFS. We had a deal for Hazard but we didn't offer him £120k in wages nor the agent fees, which was the sensible thing to do I agree, but it shows that Fergie's funds are limited.

Fergie funds are limited compared to the financial doping of Chelsea, City and to an extent Real and Barca with those ridiculous TV deals but that's sensible. In terms of adhering to the FFP strictly to the letter we would blow everyone else out the water.

"not being able to offer £200k a week" isn't embarrassing in the slightest. It's embarrassing that those clubs actually do that.

I agree with you, that's why we have do our homework and look for young players and buy them for a premium price with relatively small wages (like Nani and to an extent Anderson).

It's important that we don't "do an Arsenal" though and that we do follow through with the wages they deserve when they become the player we hoped they would be. Like Nani for example, I hope we are being realistic in our offer to him, I obviously hope he is being realistic in his demands.

We could probably afford that alone too, maybe even for two or three players, but it makes future players want that much, current players want that much in their new contracts and then at that point it becomes unaffordable and a big fecking mess.

I'm interested to see if FFP has any affect on market rates, I'm hoping it does and the next two-three years are just almost waiting to ride the storm until doing relatively big business again.

Err. he does actually. he was also out for quite a while when he was on loan at Wigan.

HE was unavailable for 13 league appearances with niggling injuries. Not a huge amount and made 25 league appearances for them. His worst season for injuries was last year and that was down to one bad injury I think our medical team got wrong by how quickly he was brought back. Cleverley's injury record is no worse than Welbeck's was.

Is he a similar player to the Dembele? According to who scored both of them are alright midfielders who can dribble the ball. We could be moving towards to a three midfielder formation where one screens the defense; the other helps retain possession and dribble the ball out of defense; and the other is Kagawa.

Nah, Dembele is miles ahead with the dribbling and is much more creative too. More similar to Ramires

Also Sir Alex said he never signs "holding midfielders". What he means by that is what you're talking about, someone to sit in front of the defence. So we definitely wont be doing that.

However, I guess he didnt say anything about converting a player to play there or something. Like with Phil Neville, later day Keane, etc. Its strange because when I saw Jones at Blackburn he did exactly that job and did really well with blocks and tackles in the danger areas. But when we use him in midfield he often ends up as one of our most forward players... Sometimes to good effect, but it would be nice if he could show that he still remembers how to protect the defence from midfield too.

I think he's talking about the absolute utter shite music that plays during the video on the first page.

It was wierd I thought the announcers were announcing the teams or something then it busted into this horrible dub reggae and mute was hit instantly.

Not screening. I meant to describe Carrick. Plugging in gaps, solid distribution, intercepting the ball and being a good all-round midfielder.

Although I really liked the midfield setup where Carrick and Fletch played up front, pressed the opposition whereas Scholes sat deep and controlled the game.

Similar to how Italy lined up in the WC2006.

Zambrotta--Materazzi--Cannavaro--Grosso
-------------------Pirlo
------------Perotta----Gatuso
-----Camaronesi----Toni-------Totti

With Pirlo playing in and around Perotta and Gattuso as a ball playing midfielder. I know everyone hated Italy at that WC (in Aus they did anyway lol) but I enjoyed watching Pirlo in that tournament. He was playing a role like Scholes does now and this season reminded me of Pirlo a lot.

Yes, Pirlo is a good midfielder. I don't think we can go back to this formation now though. We just don't have enough individuals for it. In theory, if Jones is more disciplined and we sign Modric(ughh, no please) we could probably try it again.

Carrick/scholes
Cleverly/Anderson/asamoah/ fletcher/kagawa/park

There are plenty of players that we could sign to play the pressing role, replacing scholes with someone any better than Carrick is the challenge.

But that's comparing apples to oranges. I am sure at this stage Carrick probably is the better player, but they play in different leagues, in teams that are set up differently, and probably have different roles. Surely that factors in?

Depends. Every time I've seen Kwadwo play, even from a young age, he's played in the nr 10 role for Ghana. Pulling the strings, the creative drive in the team.

Not really if another midfielder does more defensive work like Pinzi for Udinese. Just saying, if anyone is expecting him to be a more solid defensive option than Carrick it doesnt look likely. He's more offensive.

But isn't that what we need? One central midfielder with defensive nous(and can contribute in attack) and the other one with attacking flair who will put a foot in defense.

apparently juventus have a verbal agreement to co-own both asamoah and isla. (in italy, 2 clubs are allowed to co-own a player) but nothing formal yet

Udinese have insisted reports of a £15million deal with Juventus for Mauricio Isla and Kwadwo Asamoah are wide of the mark.

Sporting director Fabrizio Larini has admitted that talks with the Turin side are progressing, but says no agreement has been reached. He also denied that the reported transfer fee was accurate.

Midfielder Asamoah has been linked with Manchester United, whilst Chilian Isla has attracted interest from AC Milan.

And Larini was keen to reveal the facts.

Speaking to Udinese.IT, he said: "The only thing that is true is that we have met with Juventus and we have spoken about their interest in our two players.

Truth

"Negotiations are at an advanced stage but I reiterate that no agreement has been reached.

"The figure mentioned by the press does not correspond to the truth."

Larini has been angered by the figures that have been quoted in the press, saying the club are not interested in cut-price deals.

He continued: "Our club is not a supermarket.

"Our players are precious and they cost a lot of money, but if there are important offers from big clubs for our players then I imagine it will be difficult for us to keep them."

Isla as a RB would be phenominal, love watching him play.

according to a tweet attributed to asamoah, tuttomercatoweb are claiming that the transfer of asamoah to juventus is far from a deal done.
Asamoah was quoted saying : even if i remain in italy or move to england, udinese will always remain in my heart.

What would likely be Juve's starting XI next season (with the current squad as it stands + these 2 signings)?

Not sure but I believe Asamoah will play wide with Marchisio and Vidal in more central roles, Isla will be on the right but I reckon more likely a right back.

He is playing as a wing back in Juve's 5-3-2 formation. He was impressive in 2 Juve's matches I have seen this year. A very good signing for them.
