Kwadwo Asamoah

Yeah it's on again next year so it's not in line with WC years or something. There's a 2013 ACN.

Na every two years.. Which is a bit much considering the Euro's and World cup is every 4 years.

It's on next year. They're switching to odd years to avoid possible clashes with the World Cup.

I think Asamoah is the type of player we could use with Pogba leaving and all. Would be a good statement to sign a player like him and the memory of Pogba would be long gone too. Kagawa, Asamoah, Powell and possibly Baines would be a good summer in the transfer market if we can pull the deals off and they would all be realistic targets.

Pogba could go to Udinese on loan if he goes to Juve. And replace Asamoah if he were to leave.

Seen as he doesnt score many I take it he is a midfield destroyer type? Has anyone watched him extensively?

The rumours originated from Sky Italia - I dont know how reliable they are - but if they are as reliable as their english counterparts.... well......

Yeah it's twitter. But i hope there may be some truth to this.

I hope not. He's a good player but considering that you lose him out for the African cup then its not worth the hassle

How reliable are Sky Italia?

Not seen him but if we go for him then it would suggest there is some doubt on the fitness of Fletcher.

Saw him play few times, good neat and tidy player but not a utd standard player, but i guess you hardly need to be a good player to play in Utd midfield.

I m not his no 1 fan but in italy he s highly rated

I summed him up earlier in this thread, amazing engine, literally sprints for 90 minutes. Hard as nails and puts in a good tackle but he's not defensive positionally like a Makelele. He drops deep but likes to charge forward. His passing game is very tidy and I really do see him as a really good partner for Carrick. Both are tidy passers and would compliment there, he has the energy and mobility and physicality Carrick "lacks" and while Carrick has the positional discipline to cover space off the ball, Asamoah has the energy and drive to get about and put in challenges and drive forward with the ball and release to one of our several attacking talents.

Hmm, don't know what to make of this. Sounds like a more durable version of Anderson without the flair. I'm under the impression he's left-footed too, which may signal the end Anderson (hope not as he has qualities our other midfielders lack, like Asamoah's drive).

If he's as disciplined as advertised, he would compliment any of our midfielders in the middle.

It's a shame that for Man United realistic targets can be largely defined as players the other top clubs are not interested in.

Why would it? This fella can play left back, holding midfield and left wing. 3 roles Anderson does not play at all.

That's not a shame to me at all. It just says that United see qualities in players and are not only confident in their coaches abilities to bring out the world class player in them but also that we have the patience and set up to do this while still winning trophies. The likes of City, Chelsea and Real Madrid can succeed by buying players that are already either at or near the finished article.

I'm proud of that.

We are team that builds stars to be fair.

True. I just wish Fergie could have got his hands on the likes of Hazard, Benzema, Ozil, Sanchez... Just one of them!

Can't see us getting anyone of not except Kagawa which has always been extremely likely to go through what with the commercial benefits it could offer.

We sign these sort of players because we cant compete with the likes of chelsea real and shitty for the big guys. We are a business not a fun fair

Name me one established played we have bought for a high fee that was worth it.

To hell with flair, we need consistency and stamina.

Rio ferdinand. I cant see the link between my post and yours though

23 years old and had won nothing. Expensive? yes. Potential? definitely. Established? Hardly.

He was considered as one of the finest defenders in europe alongside nesta and cannavaro who moved clubs for a cheaper fee. If ronaldo played for spurs he would probably not won anything, that doesnt mean that he wouldnt be a great player. Rio sorted our once shaken defence. Only a wc defender could do that

He's Darren Fletcher then basically.

I understand where you're coming from. But with Carrick , Anderson , Cleverley , Kagawa and veterans Scholes and Giggs we have more than enough to compensate.

If a player is good enough, I've got no problem with him missing a few weeks with the African nations cup. We've got enough players who miss much more than that through injuries!

Kagawa will probably just behind the striker, Giggs and Scholes wont last forever and I won't be surprised that, if we sign Asamoah, then Anderson will be sold. However that's not the issue. There are players around whom are as good as Asamoah and who wouldn't feck off to the African cup for a couple of weeks when you probably need him the most.

Im not saying that he'll be sold. What I said is that I wont be surprised if United
takes that route, that's all. Ando injury track record is a matter of concern. The possibility of him leaving OT is real.
It isnt any realer than it was last season. That perception is strictly in fans heads. He wasn't given 5 years as a joke. The earliest he will be in danger of leaving will be the end of next season.

contracts means little this day. Ando has a long injury track record. With the old guard at their last year of contract (and yet still kept at OT), SAF may opt in getting new staff in to replace those, whom for one reason or another have failed to perform week in week out. I am not making Ando our CM culprit. In fact apart from Carrick and Scholes, no one had really performed on a week in week out basis. However, Fletch and Clev are homegrown ....Ando is not.
