Kwadwo Asamoah

I would guess Scholes signing on for another year rules out signing him this summer. With Cleverley and Anderson back (and possibly Fletcher), there's no room for him.

SAF mentioned Scholes would play 25-30 games next season right?

Not saying that it is. I don't know him what so ever. But we do need something.

Well, what we need is something that Sir Alex has been saying doesnt exist (well "isnt available" ) for the past few seasons. Players good enough to add something to our squad.

We should add a midfielder without a doubt. But signing Giggs and Scholes on again makes it much less likely. And all I know is, if our next midfielder is this guy or someone like him then it just shows up his comments in recent years as the fluff they are.

I'd like to think that when we do finally sign a central midfielder, it'll be someone who was worth waiting for. Maybe not one of the most sought after players in his position in the world, because of all the competition for them. But at least someone who is quality and does what he said he was looking for. Someone who adds to the squad. Not more of the same, but the things we dont have.

Juventus are also set to pounce for Kwadwo Asamoah: negotiations with Udinese could kick off on Monday. Udinese president Pozzo is holding out for his valuation of the midfielder, €15 million, and has already rejected a €12 million bid from Man United. That's the same amount Juve are prepared to lay on the table. But the Italian champions are gearing up for a counter-attack that includes Pazienza and co-ownership of Luca Marrone in the offer. Juventus are on the verge of announcing the arrival of Paul Pogba, the midfield prodigy snatched on a free from Manchester United.

This thread is not getting enough attention .Especially that we may have put an actual bid in for him.

I read some blogs from Juventus fans who are not so keen about him, especially at the transfer fee requested by Udinese - 18-20m euros. They say that he s too one dimensional - he plays on left side of midfield .

The agent of Udinese midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has intimated that Manchester United are one of a number of clubs showing interest.

Juventus have been linked with the Ghana international, while Udine media sources say Manchester United have failed with a €12 million offer in the last week.

Stefano Antonelli declared: "Juventus can certainly be interested, but he is an Udinese player, a club that next season will play the Champions League and they'll hardly sell except for an important offer.

"For him, however, there are two or three other important clubs that have shown an intention of reaching an agreement for him."

As far as I know, Asamoah is not an enforcer as such, not from what I've seen of him when playing for Ghana. He's very attack minded for Ghana. Not sure what role he plays at his club though mind.

Hes very much box to box, likes a hard tackle but equally likes to power forward. His passing is good as well. Struggling to think of a comparison, funnily enough probably Essien although he doesn't have his level of strength.

Again, can only comment on what I've seen of him when playing for Ghana. When he broke into the team he played a very advanced role, just behind Gyan. Annan (in absence of Essien) and Boateng used to be the deeper lying players. See here, this was the formation: http://formationx.net84.net/en/wc2010/ghana.html

I saw 2 live matches of Ghana in South Africa and he never once was box to box, just all out attack.

He's the only genuinely central midfield player we've been linked with so far. Fact that he's also linked with Juve suggests that if Pogba stays then Juve go for him, if Pogbe goes, perhaps we do.

I disagree there. From what I've seen of Kwadwo, he plays in an advanced role similar to Kagawa. He's very much a creative player who looks to push forward. Even at Udinese he's the one that pushes forward out of the midfield trio. I've also never seen him play in a '2 man midfield'. Have to mention that, you know it's standard caftard policy.

Is he a clone of Essien? I know Essien isn't shy of doing the defensive duties himself if required

He's no clone, I was just struggling to think of a player he's comparable to. He's got an incredible engine and really gets about the field well for 90 minutes, his passing I'd say is well above average both long and short although I wouldnt describe him as "creative". He's got a good long shot too and should probably score more. Not particularly tall but a good jump and he's pretty strong but as I said, no Essien in that department.

He's more comparable to Muntari if anyone hence why I don't think he's a box to box midfielder. His main strengths are his passing and vision going forward. He's very energetic but when I've seen him play he hasn't been concerned much with defense. In the teams his played for (club and country) he's had 2 other midfielders next to him to do the dirty work. So that's why I don't get why you say he's 'box to box'. Essien is much closer to box to box than Kwadwo. Just my opinion.

Incidentally, I've rated him highly amongAfrican talents for the past 4 years since I first saw burst into Ghana's team at Afcon 2008.

I guess it depends on what SAF sees in him. I remember thinking the same when we signed Anderson and he seems to have become a deeper player, perhaps not entirely at his liking. I wonder if Asamoah would play well along side Carrick in 4-2-3-1 system, or in 4-2-1-3. From what you've said I guess we can't view him as a guy who'll play centrally in a 4-4-2. I've only seen him 5 times so it's hard to tell from that what his best position would be.

Is it only me who think music like this is stereotyping people? Whenever there's a black player they need to have typical black music.

I think he's talking about the absolute utter shite music that plays during the video on the first page.

Would it make you feel better if I created a montage of Dave Kitson with Tupac playing in the background?

You know exactly what I'm talking about. It's just because he's black they're putting that sort of music in there.

Was it a player like Dave Kitson there would be music that sounds like euro-dance.

Enough said about this little side issue.

I didn't even watch that clip on the 1st page so had no clue what you were on about.

That's an awesome song.

Now fo' my niggas on da block: kaka-waka-daka-waka-waka-waka-daka-kaka.

Another attacking midfield then? Why?

Wouldn't mind if he's a box to box, Alex Song type. Or even an enforcer Tiote.

That video makes him look shit.
the b3b3 youtube video was better

Personally I don't think of a "Box to Box" midfielder as someone who has a defensive role. I think of it as a midfielder who is involved from deep be it with a tackle or a pass and gets forward with the play, only to get back again to cover. The modern box to box player generally has a defensive player alongside them. See Essien in his early Chelsea days with Makelele, Essien with Mikel, and with Alonso.

Asamoah is a good tackler, loves to put a foot in but in terms of positioning and approach thats where it ends defensively. He'd be a great partner to Carrick. He's go the engine, the physicality and the passing that Carrick needs next to him.

Fergie doesn't tend to go for players who will have to go off to the ACN though does he of which this lad would this season
