Koke

I must be the only united fan that doesn't want him. Just don't think he's going to be the hit that everyone seems to think, he just doesn't have elite talent for me.

Considering he's a class above anyone in our midfield, and yes he's probably better then Carrick as well considering Carrick is now 32, who do you want? You can't expect us to sign fabregas or somebody of that class, it's just unrealistic. Koke has huge potential and is already and excellent player.

We have an excellent track record at purchasing potential at a young age and developing them into world-class talents. Koke fits this profile perfectly, he suits our needs perfectly, and his club are in dire financial trouble so should be willing to do business (at a price). If we weren't highly interested in him, I'd be worried.

Did he wave or salute or anything? If not he's staying.

Atletico want him to win them game against Barca and give Barca 2 finger salute before leaving for us. So, I am told by an ITK (The little boy in me who screams koke koke every night)

He's not the kind of safe bet that you can imagine someone like a (fully fit) Gundogan could be - not that there really are any truly safe bets when it comes to transfers. On the other hand he's 21, a full international, has performed well across the midfield, is a key player in one of Spain's top teams, very good at setpieces and an all round class act.

So it depends on what kind of elite you're looking for.

Plus, while I'd be amazed if he's available now, I wouldn't be surprised to see him move this summer or next - though perhaps not to us.

I don't see him moving to Italy, Bayern seem pretty well stocked, he'd never move to Real as he's a lifelong Atletico fan so that leaves Barcelona or England (he doesn't come across as one to be lured by PSG or Monaco's millions).

I think if we register our interest early enough and show clear intent, we stand a great chance.

When he signs I'm going to say....I'm loving it.

Er, that's McDonalds' slogan, Irwin...

Don't worry @Irwhine, you can have it your way. That's burger king incase you didnt know.

Offer £37m rising to £43.2 on conditions. And then a few months later point out the missing 'm' off the last figure and say "Gutted!!" and sue for refund

Our midfield is such a mess that a CB has been our best midfielder this season, so saying someone's better than what we have isn't saying much in all honesty. I'd take anyone of Kovacic, Gundogan, or Banega, ahead of him. As a matter of fact I'd take Oliver Torres ahead of him too. I don't see Koke as a footballer with huge potential, he just doesn't have that level of talent that'll make him relevant in the best mid in the world convos in the future IMO.

That the " Dream for many" line?

I agree with you with gundogan obviously, but he'd go a long way to improving us. I'm not sure if he can become one I the best midfielders in the world, but that's not exactly our main priority right now, is it. I'd have him over banega easily though, same with kovacic though more because kovacic is inexperienced and only just arrived at inter. He's a very good all around midfielder, capable of playing many roles, maybe not world class but he can definitely become a top player. He's exactly the type of player we need right now, an all around midfielder who is very good already with plenty of room to improve, and is versatile. I don't think anyone thinks he'll become world class really, but any good midfielders would have most on here pretty happy to be honest. Looking around the world at the realistic options, and there are plenty of midfielders who would improve us for decent prices, but apart from gundogan who probably won't leave before the summer, koke is probably the best of the rest.

And none of them have been as good as him this season. Out of all the names you named bar Gundogan Koke id the most polished midfielder, and thats at 21 5 years younger than Banega is. Its funny you bring up Oliver Torres, because Torres has yet to do anything outside of youth football, its Koke who has been their standout midfielder for the last 2 seasons.

He has everything in his locker to be up there with the very best in a couple years, and he is much close to that type of standard than you think. He isn't as flashy as the likes of Isco, Thiago, even Torres but he has shown a level of consistency in the last two years far more than any of them, and in terms of his all round game there isn't really a fault, he can pass as well as any of those players, he has less tricks but then he is more studious, and he still has a beautiful touch, dribbling and all the common traits you associate with the top spanish midfielders. There is a reason why people are calling him the heir to Xavi, he really is that good and i don't have any doubts that if he came to this league he would be one of the best midfielders around for the next few years, you should be hoping that you see his talent at United rather than another club, because he will be a top player regardless, it will come to a point when you wouldn't be able to deny it.

Did you see him celebrate his goal today? The lad has no intentions of going anywhere, and why would he. I don't buy this 'we are United' crap - we are a team in transition that is going very poorly to say the least. If he wants to go to the WC he should stay put.

Half a season and Atlético Madrid are now ten times the club Manchester United are and ever will be, didn't you hear?

I'm not sure most people are trying to say that but he is playing in his own country, for a club he loves - why would he want to leave to a club that is currently not looking healthy in it's league position? Whether AM win the league or not, the lad is only 21 (i think), so why rush a decision to leave his boyhood club when he can move on at the end of the season, if at all.

Atlético's players have always moved on at some stage. Torres loved the club and enjoyed relative success there, moved on. de Gea loved the club and enjoyed relative success there, moved on. Just don't know why some are approaching Koke any differently just because United have had a poor half season.

Still, he can play in the CL for his boyhood club and then he can decide if he wants to move on in the summer, weighing up his options. It'd be far more sensible than leaving now.

Agreed, I don't see him moving now. But it's ridiculous to suggest he'd have no interest in joining United in the not so distant future.

It's not that, it's because Atletico are challenging for the title and are dark horses for the champions league. It makes no sense at all from his part to go to United half way into the season, leave his boyhood club and go to a club that is struggling in the league. Same situation with Barkley really. Yes they will both probably leave within the next few transfer windows, but it makes no sense to leave their boyhood clubs when they are having their best season in a very long time. Torres, De Gea, and everyone else in similar situations all moved at the end of the season, not mid way through a fantastic season.

He's not gonna move this window, that much is obvious.

The only chance United have to sign this guy is if Atletico need the money desperately, else I don't see him leaving to be honest.

Well they sold us the best young 'keeper in the world for a very reasonable price a couple of seasons ago. They also sold Torres for a very reasonable price.

True but I don't think they were in the running for any major titles at the time
