Not only are the Spanish ahead of us in footballing terms but they are also 4 months ahead of us in time. feckers.

According to german sources Koke is wanted by Pep at Munchen.. This is going to be easy..

Koke is not going to move in January with Athletico in the CL and the World Cup coming up. Plus Athletico have a great chance to break the Real-Barca stranglehold.

This would be a bit similar to our attempt to sign Cesc in that the player isn't going to push for a move and the club won't want to sell.

In both cases you'd need to make an offer that was too good for the club to turn down. Once the club accepts a bid the player isn't going to stay. This means overpaying though, something the club is very reluctant to do.

The real problem with the Cesc bids was that they were nowhere near the level that would force Barca to reluctantly sell. There'll be no point in going for Koke unless we've learned from that mistake. I have a bad feeling we haven't though. :(

Plenty of reports in Russia and Ukraine today that Atletico will sign Jose Sosa, an Argentinian attacking midfielder, on an initial six-month loan from Metalist Kharkiv in January. My understanding is that Sosa plays either on the left or on the right of the attacking three in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Sosa is moving to get wider exposure before the World Cup, and will expect to start a lot of games.

Obviously, Koke is signing for us in January, which is why Atletico is scrambling to find a suitable replacement. Or... not.

Unless they are close to bankruptcy within 3 months - it would be suicide to sell any key-player. They could win la Liga - and securing C.L-football is easily worth the money they get for someone like Koke. They can sell him in the summer if they have to

Exactly. And if he plays in the World Cup his value will go up.

This might help...

Atletico Madrid have confirmed the loan signing of central midfielder Jose Sosa, which is excellent news for Manchester United in their chase for Koke.
Espn have reported that Atletico Madrid have signed Argentine midfielder Jose Sosa on an initial 6 month loan spell with the option to buy from Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv
Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone knows all about the Argentine from their time together at Argentine club Estudiantes. The midfield playmaker has been a target for many La Liga clubs, including Malaga and Real Betis, but it is the Rojiblancos that won the race for his signature and the initial loan spell could turn into a €10m transfer at the end of the season.
The news was of the transfer was reported by the player’s representative Ezequiel Manera on twitter
“The operation is a loan with an option to buy. Tomorrow Jose Sosa together with Maximiliano Pra will be arriving in Madrid. We appreciate the good will and understanding of the people at Metalist. These six months are very important for Jose.”
The news itself will have its implication, as David Moyes’ Manchester United have a strong interest in Atletico midfielder Koke and the coveted midfielder might now be approachable.
Koke has been in irresistible form for the Rojiblancos this term, starting in 16 of their 17 La Liga matches, netting three goals and helping himself to a further eight assists.
The 21-year-old has led Atletico to joint top and helped the Madrid-based side progress to the next phase of the Champions League. The Spanish international has become hot property with some outstanding performances, with interest coming from a range of European top clubs.
Nevertheless, the midfielder has been told that his place belongs in the Spanish capital, and that the reported £50m release clause is evident to cover Atletico’s tracks. However, with United ready to splash the cash, the recent signing of Jose Sosa could well indicate that Diego Simeone is preparing for life without his influential midfielder Koke, just in case.
Will Manchester United now be able to sign Koke?

Well thats fantastic news. It means we're signing Koke for £2-3 million and they couldnt afford to buy a replacement for him, so had to shop at the bargain basement for a loan signing. Absolutely nailed on

Wish people would stop using De Gea as an example of being able to sign a top Spanish player. A goalkeeper is a very different animal when it comes to transfers. They rarely command massive transfer outlays compared to midfielders or strikers and because the top clubs rarely change goalkeepers that often there is hardly ever a scramble for a GK's signature. Its a completely different situation from a coveted midfielder.

 Such unabashed arrogance!

Err.....no!!! It's the truth. I don't see how anyone could think any differently.

We've won more trophies than most teams in the major leagues and are arguably the biggest.

it is an honour for any player to join us.

I don't know which planet this is applicable on, but it certainly isn't earth.

There's a whole lot of funny in what he said. And to deliver it with such arrogance...

If you're a top player, you're being chased by every top team who can afford your services, if you're not, you need the big club more than they need you. That is, and always will be, how it goes.

And, I don't care what team it is, pride in playing for them is going to be highly subjective and personal when you've got the pick of any that you fancy and many have turned us down in the past because they obviously didn't see us as this all-encompassing behemoth some of you seem to think we are just because we're Manchester United.

My views haven't got anything to do with our current standing or supposed fall from grace, either; I've always thought of it as arrogance when any supporter of a big club adopts such an attitude.

We could sign Koke and play him as a wide midfielder who comes inside. Like what he does anyway for Atletico. His crossing ability is second to none.

Not impressed by him and I'm basing my opinion on a few youtube videos. But, honestly, what's the deal with the guy? Any good?

He's very good for his age and will only get better. He's been capped 7 times for Spain in midfield and considering the wealth of midfield players Spain have...

Creative, skillful, aggresive, brilliant crosser, 21 years old. These are things we are crying out for in midfield really.
