Kobbie Mainoo (out)

I imagine if Chelsea came in with a bid for £120m, Ratcliffe would definitely consider it as it would go a long way to sorting out PSR woes.

From a footballing perspective it’s my worst nightmare.
It will hurt but we will be fine.

It would take a huge amount of money, and even more so for a rival PL club. Also, Chelsea are already pretty stacked in midfield, so would be a waste of Mainoo's time anyway.

It's silly season, journos are taking the 'every player has a price' line and shit stirring with it. I think Mainoo might not be the second coming of Robson or Keane like we all wish for, but he's already very good and will probably continue to improve.

That costs a lot of money to replace, especially when you factor in how young he is and so could therefore be around a very long time still.
Agreed, he's a very good player that we should be looking to keep unless a stupid bid comes in for him, IF, he hasn't progressed or starts to go backwards over the next year that'll be the time to consider it.

Best you're getting is Ben Chilwell in return.

I’m not worried at all. But if it were to happen it would be a humbling moment for us a club, it would prove how drastically far we’ve fallen.
Goes against everything the club stands for. I’m actually shocked at the number of people on here that would sell him. A homegrown, 19 year old, England international that has unbelievable potential to be a world class player. Jesus if Paul Scholes was coming through we’d probably have similar comments. So short sighted. We get back to the top playing elite academy products not binning them off to satisfy FFP rules!

Man, that would suck. But it wouldn't be the end of the world. Id probably accept it if was £120m+ and especially if he wants to leave

In a vacuum, I'd take it. £100M-£120M in pure profit? It will solve a lot of problems and untie a lot of hands. Usually.

But you know this club will spend the money on more Mounts and Antonys.

Not a fan of this.

I’m 99% sure this is Kobbie’s agent trying to pressure the club into hurrying up with his new deal and wage rise. The club probably isn’t in a rush with 2.5 years to run on his current contract.

This, especially coming from someone like Ornstein, combined with Ratface's scrimping everywhere and anywhere has me worried that we're in dire straits money-wise and they're desperate for cash.

Best case scenario it's just another cnut agent doing their thing. In which case, get comfortable Kobbie, because you're here for a few years yet.

How's he been this season? Seems like he isn't spoken about as much compared to last year when he broke into the first team at United. I thought he was a mixed bag last season, some good, some not so good performances.

I don't see him leaving in January.

Not sure it is just the players side that might be briefing this. If the club wants to sell Garnacho I could well imagine them leaking stories that Kobbie is on the market so that when they do sell Garnacho nobody kicks up a fuss as we know it could it have been much worse.

Not as good as last season, but I feel like his level last season was always going to be unsustainable. I think Amorim is being more careful with his minutes as well, whereas Ten Hag would play him every minute.

Underwhelming up until the last 2 games, now he’s looking a lot more like last season’s Mainoo

His injury obviously put a downer on things. Thought him and ugarte together bossed things against yous on Sunday. I think he’s still trying to get use to the new system just like most of our squad. Once we have a settled 11 with him and ugarte and they get a run of games together I’m sure he’ll shine again.

Not a chance this happens. Just his agent doing agent things to get his man the best deal possible

I highly doubt any of this is true, it's the usual bullshit transfer shit been spouted by multiple twats looking for easy engagement.

On the other hand. If he has the sort of agent that is going to use the old "other clubs are interested" line to fish for a better deal. I'd be telling him to feck off.

I don’t understand how selling him for over 100M and then buying one or two elite players on high wages does anything for PSR, it effectively cancels each other out

Nah, we won’t sell him unless Chelsea makes an offer we can’t refuse (circa £120m at the least). I think there’s a few other players we’d sell if it was about money - albeit we won’t raise anywhere near Mainoo type cash by selling them.

It’s not even agents don’t agent things it’s just bullshit journalists finding another way to keep us in the news following a positive result,

If his agent is doing it, usually the player knows about it and is ok with it. The agents are doing what their clients want

If he genuinely wants £200k and won’t settle for anything around the £100k mark then by all means sell him.
This is exactly how we got into the mess we are currently getting out of in the first place.
I’m not sure that can be true though surely?

Apparently the only club making a profit in the EPL is West Ham, I think players need to have a reality check when it comes to wages. 200k wouldn't be given to Mainoo anywhere else in Europe
