Kobbie Mainoo (out)

He's a big talent but definitely not unsellable for the right price. Ideally I would sell him overseas though.

Does his current deal run until June 2027 or June 2028.

Seem like this is a low priority contract renewal for the club.

I'll just say that a 100m pure profit in PSR doesn't just equate to 100m in transfer spend. It'll be a multiple of that.

2027 with a +1 option, so effectively 2028.

Agree on it being a very low priority but I think they'll do it anyway. He's an important first teamer now which wasn't the case when he signed the original contract.

Bruno already had a long-term contract and he got a new one after twerking in the press, so I don't see why it would be any different here.

I hope INEOS can put an end to players contract PR nonsense.... it's so annoying.

His role in the team has clearly become more important in the two years since he signed his new deal, so he's clearly looking for a new contract.

Would imagine this is coming from his side, and they will then go to the club and say this is the level at which rival clubs would be offering him a contract and it's up to you to match it.

Thanks.

Yeah so his contract would only become an issue in the summer of 2026 when he would have 2 years left to run.

United should keep him and his agent on 'unread' until then.

Barcelona are more fecked than United, and they wouldn't sell Gavi or Pedri. Nonsense should be this.

If he wants to go then £200m and replace with a few players to strengthen would be a good outcome

Why would we sell another academy graduate before Rashford and Garnacho? If we want PSR profit, it would be Garnacho and Rashford.

We don't have enough home grown players either . This is BS

Maguire ( will leave in an year )
Mount
Rashford (will be sold)
Garnacho
Shaw (will be sold)
Evans (will retire )

Will be down to bare bones.

Agent putting the pressure on the club. Whatever we do, we shouldn't panic and give him a contract worthy of a world class player like we did to Rashford in 2019.

I imagine if Chelsea came in with a bid for £120m, Ratcliffe would definitely consider it as it would go a long way to sorting out PSR woes.

From a footballing perspective it’s my worst nightmare.

Why is there rumours of a new deal? hasn't he got a long deal already?

Because he deserves more than he’s currently getting on his previous contract. We also probably want to tie him to a much longer deal.

Not necessarily. The multiplicative effect only applies to the current accounting period, in that you're only amortizing one year (or half a year if January) of the new players' contracts and offsetting all that with the one-time windfall from the player sale.

You still have to figure out the accounting for the other years, and most importantly you still need the cash to actually fund the player purchases.

The story is obviously bs. The sort of thing even credible journos dangle before us to sustain interest in their tweet of the moment.

It would take a huge amount of money, and even more so for a rival PL club. Also, Chelsea are already pretty stacked in midfield, so would be a waste of Mainoo's time anyway.

It's silly season, journos are taking the 'every player has a price' line and shit stirring with it. I think Mainoo might not be the second coming of Robson or Keane like we all wish for, but he's already very good and will probably continue to improve.

That costs a lot of money to replace, especially when you factor in how young he is and so could therefore be around a very long time still.

Does it work the other way as well? Players who have declined since they last signed a contract, should do the right thing, and get their agents to contract the club for a pay reduction. :smirk:

He is as sellable as Lamibe Yamal, Pedro and Gavi are for Barcelona. It would take over Neymar money.

Sign him on a 3 year extension, Garnacho is sellable in my opinion Mainoo is not.
