Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

I cant see us signing Huntelaar now that we have Owen, but out of the two of them I would have preferred Huntelaar.
Our next priority should imo be a Defensive Midfielder, and a new goalie to replace VDS.

Manchester United are leading the race to sign Klaas-Jan Huntelaar from Real Madrid, after Milan decided to focus all their attentions on Luis Fabiano.

Huntelaar has fallen well down the pecking order at Madrid in the midst of their summer spending, a fact that has not gone unnoticed around Europe.

According to The Sun, Man United are now ready to swoop, with Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani having recently declared his preference for Fabiano.

Huntelaar has scored eight times during his 20 appearances at the Bernabeu, and is keen to sort his future out as soon as possible.

It is thought that United would have to pay in excess of the €23 million that Madrid payed for Huntelaar to land the Dutch striker from Ajax in Janaury.

no way should we pay more for him than they did...

Agree with this, but I think that as the summer draws on, the price will drop. As far as Reals "old squad" goes, its very much a buyers market. Real want to sell, they need to sell in order to get their wage bill back in line, after splashing so much cash this summer.

If we go for Huntelaar, I expect that it would be something of a last minute move. Fergie spent all of last summer persuing Berbatov - waiting and waiting until he could (or so he thought) get him at a lower price. If we are in the market for Huntelaar, then I dont think we will see anything until the last days of the transfer window, when Real will really become desperate to offload what they regard as "deadwood" or simply "non galacticos".

we dont need a striker like we needed berba last season
there is no reason to overpay for him .. he isnt that special

i hope it doesnt happen ..

Like Walrus said Madrid want to get rid, we should bid around £12 mill, even if a smaller club bids , the choice will be the players and we could end up with a real bargain. They need to sell, lets screw them over. If it doesn't work out then we're still stocked up enough anyway.

Real bought him for €20m and he's definitely not worth more than he was in December. Madrid are stupid clowns if they think we should pay more than €20m.

I like Huntelaar and I wanted him to join United, but with Owen in our squad he may be a problem for Macheda and Welbeck and I'm sure everyone here wants to see more of Macheda than Huntelaar.

Huntelaar would be good, but we signed Owen, so 'no' to Klaas.

have to agree.....any further strikers coming in is only going to curb the chances of welbeck and macheda

In the match against everton Macheda looked VERY raw. Welbeck has a higher a chance right now.

agreed, the rush to promote macheda is to ignore the evidence of him so far. a young brilliant talent who made a couple of great cameos but who is not yet ready for a full seasons contribution at united. I expect him to go out on loan

We really don't want them to become new Rossi ;)

Macheda, Welbeck, it doesn't matter who.

Do you think that even without Huntelaar or someone else coming to Old Trafford, Macheda or Welbeck will be loaned for this season? I think it's possible, but don't want them to play in The Championship. Only Premier League.

I thought his all-around play was very, very good against Everton - better than what Huntelaar typically produces. He created some great chances for Wellbeck. I have no doubt Huntelaar would score goals for us, but imo he'd be redundant now that we've signed Owen.

In theory it'd be great to loan one of them out but in practice it could be disastrous. They are at a delicate stage of development and its vital that they spend this phase under the guidance of SAF and the united coaches.

agree with the bolded part.

If we buy a Dutch player from Real Madrid and that player is not Robben then it's rope out.

Can't Huntelaar just sign for Stuttgart already, I'm getting nervous with all this stories linking him to United.

He looked very raw against Everton. SAF would love to have the option of 4 experienced strikers. Its all well and good SAF saying "welbeck will be the next star" but the last time we were bold with developing youngsters we went three seasons without the league. With our level of debt success is paramount. I can see the youngsters getting a run out in the cups but I don't expect them to be played as much as ronaldo was when we went through transition.

Mind you SAF might risk it a bit next season and blood in quite a few youngsters but realistically I don't see it happening given the competitiveness of the league.

www.vi.nl : Real Madrid are believed to have accepted an offer - which is said to be around the 20m euro mark - for Hunterlaar from Stuttgart.

But it's important to play, not to train under Ferguson.

The best option would be to loan one of them to a team with Fergie's good friend as a manager. We loaned Rossi to Newcastle and Campbell to Tottenham and we know how many games they played.

If having Huntelaar in the squad gives us a better chance of success and silverware at the risk of hindering Macheda's progress, I'm all up for having him!

We had 4 brilliant strikers in 1999.. rotating, Ole, Yorke, Cole, Teddy....
4 proper established front men again would be awesome, Rooney, Berbatov, Owen and ..Hunter?
Yes please.

I'm all for grooming young players, but not at the cost of success...

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is expected in Madrid today to decide his future after dropping down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu following the arrival of Karim Benzema from Lyon.

According to AS, Stuttgart are the only side so far to have met Real Madrid's price-tag, the German team having offered €18 million, a fee that could rise to €20 million.

Stuttgart, who finished in third place in the Bundesliga, want to mount a serious league challenge next season and regard Huntelaar as the perfect replacement for Mario Gomez, who left for Bayern Munich earlier in the summer.

However, with reports indicating that Manchester United, Marseille and Milan are also interested in the Holland international, AS understands that the 25-year-striker will ask Stuttgart to wait as he wants to see if more offers are tabled.

In what ways did he look raw? He's not the finished article by a long stretch, but if I was seeing him for the first time in that game and had no idea what age he was I would have thought that he looked like a competent, intelligent centre forward.

REAL MADRID: AGREEMENT CLOSE WITH STUTTGART FOR HUNTELAAR?

The latest speculation which is brought to the forefront of public
knowledge by Spanish daily “AS” is that REAL MADRID Dutch forward
KLASS-JAN HUNTALEER is closer to German Club STUTTGART more
than ever. Real Madrid has priced their forward between 20 – 25M€
& the German Club is said to have put on the table an offer that may
lead to a full agreement between Clubs. In the next hours or days
negotiations may accelerate to turn rumour into truth.

Real in advanced talks on Huntelaar sale

Reuters - July 11, 2009, 12:42 am

MADRID, July 10 (Reuters) - Real Madrid are negotiating the sale of Klaas Jan Huntelaar and talks have advanced to the point where the Dutch striker needs to decide whether to accept an offer, sporting director Miguel Pardeza said on Friday.

Spanish media have reported that Real have reached an agreement with Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart for the transfer of Huntelaar for a fee of 20 million euros ($28 million).

"(Director general Jorge) Valdano wants to involve him (Huntelaar) in the situation and him to make a decision," Pardeza said at a news conference without identifying which club wanted to buy the Netherlands international.

The club will have to get a move on if we are really interesting in him.

The fans didnt take to him. Decent enough goal scoring record but didnt play football in the cultured way they expect from a starting striker. Ruud is "over" with the fans and made it there, so that should fully explain the difference between the two players. Huntelaar has the same finishing ability, but nothing else.

Stuttguart would be a good move for him to help re-solidify his reputation and improve as a footballer for when he has the chance of moving to a top club in future years.

R.Madrid just toyed with his career, they refused him to compete in the CL and now they're getting rid of him.

agree, it saddens me, because i know that Huntelaar could still be an absolute monster in the EPL if a decent team signed him up.

They could only register one extra player for the next phase of the CL, and they were more stuck in centre-mid, no? So I thought it had made sense to register Diarra.

I know but look at it from his point of view, he must have been disappointed to have signed for them at the end of the day

Hope Benzema will go through the same experience at Real.

Not jinxing it at all, like.
