Kevin De Bruyne

If City gets him, I think that for the first time they will actually have a good chance of doing well in UCL too. They'll walk the league.
if we get our attacking play sorted out then we are going to have something to say about that. We already have the best defensive record in the league since last Nov (granted De Gea is a huge part of that).

But yes De Bruyne joining them ontop of Otamendi and Sterling to Aguero and Silva is very very good.

I think that City will have a better defense than us, while their attacking front four will be miles better than that of any other top team in the league.

We defended well in these two games, but I am not convinced that our defense is all that great. When Smalling gets injured, we will be screwed.

When your keeper is by far the best player in the team, then the defense cannot be that strong. That was the case last season.

SSN reporting he is very close to completing his Man City move to take their spend to £150 million for the summer. We absolutely need someone like Griezmann now with all these targets either going elsewhere or not being available.

Why the feck aren't we in for him, don't we need a right sided forward player?

Funny, while everyone says we splashed cash this transferperiod we only netted about 8 mio. City going fullout as usual.

Have I missed something or did city sign Otamendi? I only recall Sterling & Delph for a £57m spend thus far.

Think it's £32m. Haha how did you miss this one.
Geez Robbie, no frigging clue and I was in the Otamendi thread Monday and Tuesday. Was busy with some studies last night, so that could be it, but I'd have thought his thread would have been on the homepage today but I don't recall seeing it. FFS.

Oh well.

Stay out of this thread for the next few days, looks like only bad news for us :nervous:

It they sign Sterling, Otamendi and KDB in this window, then just wow. Their defence will be hugely upgraded and their front four will be the best in the league. Oh they signed Delph too but meh to that.

Apparently we were in for Otamendi all the time and he signed for City, City are in for De Bruyne for some time and yeah you know the rest..

If they sign this guy then the 15/16 league title can be handed to them already. Otamendi will sort out that defence and Sterling, Silva and KDB behind Aguero would annihilate defences. Silva and Aguero fit and in form alone are enough trouble for most teams so with these additions it isn't looking too good for the rest of the league

Yeah agreed. Signed some absolute quality if they get de Bruyne as well. Basically did what we've done & closed gaping holes in their first XI (Nasri, Navas, Mangala) with real talent. Only problem is - we have a few more holes to fill which we seemingly won't because we can't net our targets.

Why don't we try to hijack that deal. When was the last time we did that if we ever done it.
Then again I think what we need more is a pacey, good winger. Not a nr. 10.

With his ability to play as a #10 and a RW I am surprised we showed no interest.

Good question, he'd make more sense than Pedro or Griezmann IMO.

FFS, how'd I miss that. I'vE been on here every day. Thanks guys.

What was the price? £40m?

In Germany they talk about 80m EUR...
And 10m EUR normal wage + 10m EUR success related wage...

(he had problems with Mourinho... - if van Gaal wanted information... - the assistant coach at Wolfsburg until last summer was his year-long-assistant)

Bild say he'll be getting 20M euros a year, which is £270/280K PW.

matches with my information - 10million fixed salary, 10m flexible

He is not a bargain - and at that transfer sum a big risk.

Does Jose get it wrong that often in terms of selling players? even our own Mata you'd struggle to say he got it wrong by selling (though Mata is still better than Oscar). Will be an interesting one this but there's a possibility (albeit small) both Sterling and De Bruyne could look like pretty expensive underwhelming signings come May

Fairly disappointing that he forces this move despite everything what Wolfsburg has done for him. I can´t say, that I wish him to succeed. Allofs looks really bad in all of this as well.

He has to work with them. And they have to function. It is 25 players and you cannot take care of all the way they might need to function best.
It might be different with the stars or with the two or three you "like" best.

They certainly do look formidable. I think they'll still get picked apart in Europe due to the fact they will have to play Toure in the middle and the other options in there are underwhelming to say the least. Fernandinho is a good player (was exceptional 2 seasons ago and has made a steady start this) but him and Toure together is a real weak link in their team vs the best IMO. Maybe Ottamendi will help cover that but i'm not sure. They'll absolutely rip up the league though, unfortunately!

He'll no doubt improve their attack instead of Navas, but he won't track back like the Spaniard. Only positive for us in this deal. Still think he'll do well.

fecking hell - the talent that's been imported into the PL this window has been nothing short of brilliant. Not nice to see them for our rivals, but it's a joy to watch these type of players week in week out. A part me amazingly still misses Suarez being in the PL.

I am sorry but why arent we in for him. This certainly has been dragging too too long..... I think he is more direct than pedro and I'd go on a limb and say that he is better than pedro

You sir are a masochist ................ of highest quality

Even I missed the otamendi signing.

This would complete a brilliant summer for City. They'd have strengthened their defence and hugely bolstered their attack, all with players that can take things up a notch. The only area they wouldn't have strengthened would be holding midfielder/central midfield but if toure is back in form and fernandhinio has a good season it shouldn't be that big an issue.

Thanks BW. I think that specific question i had related to otamendi. I completely missed that transfer confirmation

He is probably too direct a number 10 for lvg. Same as di maria was.

Well I have been harping on about getting this lad for weeks but Woody won't listen to me. Too bad another player with the potential of being world class slipping through our fingers. City's attack will be by far the strongest in the league with him added to the squad, if their defence can step up they are clear favourites for the title. I wonder how many goals Agüero will score with the supply of Silva and KdB.
