Kevin De Bruyne

You want him to be the focal point and to have the ball as often as possible. Not just in the final 1/3. Its almost the role of a classic #10.

Well but that' exactly what I'm saying. De Bruyne will be the main creative outlet in midfield and Herrera sort of a hybrid, still a great passer but not the main playmaker. I think we have also seen by now that Mata is not that, a number 10 so to speak. He likes to finish chances himself and played so far much more like and inside forward and not really like a wide playmaker as Silva does, which would be where de Bruyne comes into play.

About the width thing you might be right though if we can't get in FBs who are strong enough in attack to provide some width but I guess we are looking to improve on these positions as well.

KDB made Genk champions when he was 20, almost all by himself. Genk being the big underdog behind, Brugge, Anderlecht and Standard. He was the main star in the national team of Belgium when qualifying for the Worldcup, when he was 21-22. You are making it look like he hasn't played a decent season before.

Thats fine and all. But it doesnt take greatness to win the Belgian league imo.
You can be world class in a smaller league but I never heard anything about that in relation to him.
And being great in some qualifing games doesnt count as a season.

The wold class label, is overused and means very little.

Honestly, I dont think we need him, especially for the prices being quoted. We need to focus on getting a more specialist central midfielder and not a makeshift one and improve our defense and/or our wingers.

I would agree, but he seems such a talent and world class player, that it would be folly not to try to sign him. Something like when we missed on Ronaldinho some 12 years ago.

Watching him tonight for Belgium at times it almost looks too easy for him, his technique and ability to glide across the pitch is effortless. However he seems to have little interest in tracking back, even when the team were down to 10 men he just jogged back after the Israeli players.

How good is he as a left winger? If he's as good there as he is at #10 then I say go for it.

He's nowhere near as good out on the wing as he is as a 10. Still not bad as he has a great delivery from there but he doesn't have the same influence as in the centre. It's a waste of his talents.

I can't see us signing him, where would he play? If its a #10 we're looking for we already have a little magician.

And the huge magician ;)

Great player, but not what we need. We don't need another #10 as we've got enough players for this role, we need a real winger. Mata, Herrera, Fellaini, and even Rooney, Januzaj and Di Maria can play as #10 already.

we need another #10 like we need a hole in the head.

Played the last two international games on the right. He is versitial. Can play along the 3 which is what we are going for. Whether that's Depay, Anderson, Firmino etc.

I think we need speed in our front line... Depay/Bale/sanchez .... not a De Bruyne type.

He's not slow and probably would have an even foot race with all but Bale On your list.

Yeah, he's not a runner at all.

Have you ever actually seen De Bruyne play??

Yeah he'd keep up with Depay. He isn't that quick... Just because de bruyne has great delivery doesn't mean he has to lack pace. He dusted Dante earlier this season.

Unlike most, I'd actually love to see him here as I think we have the perfect role for him.

I think he'd do really well as an inverted "false" winger( the "Mata role")
There are mainly two reasons that make me believe that he wouldn't be wasted on the wing like Kagawa.

-His crossing is world class, one of the best crossers in the world in my opinion. Playing out wide would really give him the opportunity to use his crossing ability.

-He is versatile. He can use both feet and has played in many different positions before.

Depay's acceleration would leave him for dead imo. Not that I view that as a negative in terms of De Bruyne. Hes a very gifted player in other ways

Doubt it... Depay hasn't left anyone for dead yet so highly unlike he'd leave someone as quick as De Bruyne

You see his first goal this weekend? Might change your mind.

Kevin De Bruyne's agent has confirmed having contact with Manchester City but said he has never been in contact with Manchester United.

De Bruyne, 23, has been strongly linked with a move away from Wolfsburg in the summer transfer window, and has attracted interest from several of Europe's major clubs.

Sources told ESPN FC last month that De Bruyne would consider a return to former club Chelsea, even though he barely played during his first spell at Stamford Bridge.

While there are no offers in yet for the Belgium international -- who has scored 15 goals and 22 assists this season -- his agent, Patrick De Koster, has held discussions with City's director of football Txiki Begiristain.

"I have met the people from Manchester City and we know each other," De Koster said in The Guardian. "I've never spoken to anyone from Manchester United but a lot of other clubs have been in touch to find out some general information.

"I think with the season Kevin has had if we didn't have these questions then there would be something wrong. I saw [Mino] Raiola's quotes about taking 20 phone calls a day regarding Paul Pogba and it's the same situation for me and probably for the agent of Memphis Depay at the moment.

"Wolfsburg paid €24 million to Chelsea so I can see it being a lot more than that."

De Koster expects a scramble for De Bruyne's services at the end of the season.

"For the moment, there are no formal discussions," he added. "Of course in the next few weeks I will be going around the world to talk about the situation with Kevin but this is just informal information.

"I will talk to everybody but Kevin is very, very happy with Wolfsburg and the way they have treated him since he arrived from Chelsea last year.

"He has a four-year contract at Wolfsburg so we will have to see what they want to do."

We could use a player that can actually create something, but where would he fit in LVGs system?

How many of his assists have been from set pieces?
Not too many, I've watched Wolfsburg a few times and a lot are from open play. That said, he's a fantastic crosser of the ball.

Directly replace Fellaini as the #10 or a similar player to Mata on RW with more height, pace and physicality. He's excellent, I've wanted him all season.

Sign him up in that's the case.

He certainly can put in a great cross from what I've seen but I could have sworn most of his assists were from set pieces.

Assists can be a bit misleading, but his 'chances created' amount is also very high too, which is normally a good barometer.

'No player has created more chances (48) in the Europa League than Kevin De Bruyne this season.'

Yeah, RR is normally taking the set pieces from what I've seen.
