Kevin De Bruyne has now recorded 20 assists this season, more than any other player in Europe's top 5 leagues.
I've also always quite liked Dzagoev the Russian midfielder.
Not worthwhile for us as he's pretty much a carbon copy of Herrera but he'd fit with the alliteration.
£58m? The papers are better at making up numbers than City's stadium announcer.
What position is he playing? If he's an attacking midfielder we already have a better player in Mata.
He's better than Mata. Both as the #10 and on the wing.
How is he better? I thought he was average when he played here. Our fans really like to underrate our own players.
Or underrate players they haven't seen. He's comfortably the best attacking midfielder in Germany at the minute, as a result, has been better than the likes of Gotze, Reus, Muller etc... He has been pivotal in spearheading Wolfsburg to second, with his 10 goals and 20 assists in the league. Mata is a fantastically gifted technical player who thrives on picking pockets of space with excellent finishing. De Bruyne is far more physical, more creative (his assists and chances created absolutely trumps Mata) a lot quicker, and adept on either foot. If we put him in the position Fellaini occupies, or as an inverted winger where Mata is, our creativity will increase ten-fold.

I agree with you mate i think Mata is a fantastic player and it would be pointless replacing him especially in the form he has shown this season. He is my favourite United player closely followed by Herrera. Both very smooth operators and should be the core of our midfield as far as im concerned.
He's certainly more dynamic, athletic, and versatile than Mata.
As someone who's seen both a ton I'd probably have De Bruyne currently. Wish we could bring him back and replace Oscar in our first XI.

Really? In that case I'm surprised were not linked with him. Given the hype I'm assuming he's got a higher ceiling than pedro. City are the only club I've seen linked with him of late.
He doesn't. De Bruyne has played a couple of games on the right, but mostly played as a central attacking midfielder and we have lots of those.
Like who? No one plays central attacking midfield for us do they. He would do a better job than Mata on the right and maybe then we can use Mata as a central attacking midfielder.
Also he's got a long contract in Wolfsburg and there's no way they'd sell. VW backed club and all, they don't need the money.

Apparently, City has a 6 year contract ready for him which whould make him one of the best paid players in the Premier League. Transfer fee would be somewhere between €70m and €84m. PSG is still interested as well but City in pole position right now. Wolfsburg didn't want to sell him at first but are not that reluctant anymore, it seems.
Could very well be yeah, don't know about any of that but now that I think of it, 6 year deals don't exist anymore or are at the lest very rare indeed. Most of the times, Kristof Terreur is quite reliable though.

People keep saying that we have so many number 10s. Which one has actually performed like a top class number 10 in recent times? Of our two main number 10s, one is back to being a striker, and Mata hasn't been the player he was at Chelsea and the manager doesn't seem to like him in the middle. Neither has been brilliant fir awhile.
Yep, with a decent hard working midfield behind that can get them the ball regularly that could be lethal.
Thing is, with our number of midfielders now, we're probably not even going to playing with a number 10... so we don't really need to be in the market for one.
I like De Bruyne a lot, and would obviously love it if we were in for him, but I can see why LVG is focusing elsewhere.

That would be the logical thing to do but in our two preseason games LVG hasn't a played three central midfielders and has instead gone with a second striker, which is the other extreme.
For me, the front line (three) is the weak link. If Di Maria goes, Mata, Rooney, Young, Janzuaj, Periera is a really safe and uninspiring lot. But if we're going to play a number 10 out wide (mata) then we might as well look for the best.
Griezmann is a better fit for us than De Bruyne in my opinion. That is, unless we're actually going to switch to a 4-2-3-1

He won't come to United to play as a right winger. He needed to play there quite a lot in our WC qualification campaign and said he didn't mind it but it's definitely not his favourite position - doesn't get involved nearly as much as he'd like to be, he's a player that wants to have the ball as much as possible.
Think he'd suit City a lot better than us, I've always seen him as a good player on the counter attack, quite direct and powerful. Along with Sterling and Aguero, he'd be brilliant.

Schniederlin behind that front 4 would be perfect as well. Shame that. If City pull in De Bruyne and a top class CM then I'm going to be incredibly excited to watch them boys play football.
