I would agree with that but instead of signing Costa right away I think we should get him on a pre-contract to get him in a year or 2.. He yet has to develop properly..
I thought United was one of the best clubs in the world to develop in, especiallt under Fergie..
Yeah, I can understand if it's half way through a season but if we want him to come and play for us then we'll want to be the ones training him and physically preparing him for the challenge of the Premiership.
If Hoarau goes to Lyon then you can be certain at 100% that Benzema will be sold because Lyon are also bringing Lisandro Lopez

Well knowing Fergie if he buys Benzema, he would want to play all his 30 Million strikers, which would mean Rooney to the wing again, all i said is if it had to be done, i would prefer Berbs on the wing to Rooney, as his ball retention is better.
I do not want him to play the wing but if Rooney has to do it at Berbs expense, i do not want that to happen
Berbatov/Benzema will be rotating (if we sign Benzema).
Berbatov could do the role on RW like Ole did when Beckham was dropped and we had Ruud in front of Scholes, with Giggs and Ole on the wings.

What Devilish said.. Otherwise Rooney can be played there.. We have many option on the wing incase SAF chooses not to play Rooney there..

I think benzema is a real possibility. He maybe a slight risk but he seems to tick the boxes.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been warned to expect a 12-month wait to sign Lyon forward Karim Benzema, despite the French club admitting that they could be forced to sell the £25 million-rated player because of Manchester United's financial power.

United manager Ferguson is ready to increase his efforts to sign the 21 year-old following Carlos Tevez's decision to reject the offer of a five-year contract to stay at Old Trafford, with sources on Sunday indicating that Manchester City were still thought to be leading the race for the Argentine's signature.
Tevez's departure, coupled with the impending £80 million sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, has left United needing to replace two forwards who contributed 41 goals between them last season.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has admitted that a "tsunami of money" could force the French club's hand and sporting director Bernard Lacombe claimed over the weekend that United have the financial muscle to prise Benzema from Stade Gerland.
But the player's agent, Karim Djaziri, has warned Ferguson that he faces a battle to persuade the Frenchman to move to Old Trafford this summer after admitting that Benzema is reluctant to leave Lyon before next year's World Cup.
"Karim is on holiday at the moment and he is not thinking of moving," he said. "He wants to stay in France for another year so that he can prepare for the World Cup and I think that Sir Alex knows this. Perhaps he wants to make an offer to Lyon. Antonio Valencia has been identified by Ferguson as the next best thing, though, and a £17 million deal for Wigan's Ecuadorean winger is likely to be completed once Ronaldo rubber-stamps his move to Spain.
For all of Benzema's potential, reputation and Champions League experience, however, he lacks the fear factor that Tevez and Ronaldo, in particular, held over opponents at the highest level.
Danny Welbeck and Federico Macheda are bright prospects, but neither is ready to emulate the feats of Beckham, Butt and Scholes 14 years ago.
Kaka has gone to Madrid, signing Fernando Torres is pure fantasy and Samuel Eto'o's likely involvement with Cameroon in January's African Cup of Nations rules him out.

Hmm sounds kinda like a Ronaldo like deal
Some very strange sounds coming out of the Lyon camp. Benzema wants to stay but inviting us to bid for him?!

Benzema would cost us way more than £25m. Aulas will never accept that kind of money, it will closer to the £35m mark.
That means he doesnt have enough self confidence that he can succeed. That doesnt go with the attitude Ive seen from him.
But coming to England and playing for Manchester United where he would most certainly be first choice is a great move prior to the WC.
If he really is planning to stay at Lyon it's either Loyalty, lack of ambition or he's scared of the idea of failure.
In the current climate if this deal goes through I'd imagine 40million would be more likely.
It's more fright than anything else as he's more likely to be a have successful season for Lyon than for United where he could be on the bench, rotated ...
He has an insane pressure on his shoulders now with the emergence of André-Pierre Gignac the top goalscorer this season, places for the WC (if France is qualified) will be expensive and he wants to be very cautious about it
What better way to secure it than go to a top team and perform there?
