Every good defender is gonna show him the line, Salah has a lethal left foot. Keeper should have done better given the angle and power.

Hardly. He showed Salah to the outside, keeping him on his right foot. That's what he should do. He got beaten by Salah's acceleration. Ospina has to save that.
Exactly. You don't show a player like Salah to his left foot.

Salah ran past him like he wasnt there. Kouibaly tried to put a hand out to grab him but in a flash he was gone. Doesnt seem to enjoy playing against someone with that pace
Could have done better but the goal wasn't his fault. That said, he's always struggled against Salah in Italy. The one player who consistently got the best of him

It was Rui who shouldn't have acted like a cnut pretending he got fouled and then standing like a moron throwing his hands up in the first place.

To be fair, Kouibaly isn't the first player that Salah made a mug of and he won't be the last.

Maybe I'm a bit cynical but had Jones been done like that, he would've been crucified on here with no excuses like 'you can only do as much' etc. Not saying he's a poor defender because he does look commanding at times but hey.

Same if we play like Napoli tonight. I think I read somewhere that this first half from them has been more entertaining than we've shown all season. I mean, come on they're dreadful!

Of course not, but this is a player being talked about as a £100 million CB - easily the most expensive in the world. The most expensive and high profile CB in the world needs to be someone you can rely on in the biggest of matches and to do a good job against the best players.

Rio just said it at half time. The first real test of Koulibaly and Salah did him one on one

Page 11 of this thread is a truly fascinating read and hilarious at the same time!

He was pathetic for the goal, he wasn't alone but pathetic all the same, let's all pretend other wise though because we are linked with him.
The LB got beaten too easily also . I don't know what he was doing protesting after he got left behind.

Did well against Salah's speed that time, so given a few yards he's obviously not as slow as he seems at times

He’s just outpaced Salah looking like he wasn’t even in top gear. Then drove the ball all the way up the field.

Its crazy how people can judge someone from one game, although he's still been relatively solid in this game.
Not even one game, one action. From people who have barely watched him probably but that's just the way she goes these days.

 @ Page 11 of this thread. The guy was absolutely stitched up by his team mates for that goal and people are acting like he's gone full Titus Bramble or something. I swear sometimes it feels like you lot spend more time moaning about football than actually watching it.

There's no CB in EPL as good as him but the guy is still not good enough for Man United according to some of you. Incredible.

He is our answer to Liverpool's van Dijk. We should go all out to get him.

Funnily enough, Liverpool dumping Napoli in the EL if current result stands could swing things in our favor to buy him in January.

Funny comment. Several PL CBs performed better than this against Liverpool
While in the home leg he was the main reason Liverpool didn't get a single shot on target for the first time in several years.

18 shots, 4 on target, 1 goal and good chances for at least 1 more tonight. Still another 5 mins plus stoppages

He's had to cover for Rui all game as well.

Okay thats another 2 goals they should have scored in the past few mins, poor finishing from Liverpool

People(Utd fans) have insanely high expectations of CB's.

I wonder if in part it is a reaction to how scrutinized our own options are. Their mistakes are exaggerated and the pretense is that our rivals options don't make the same type of errors. The you get a highly rated, possible target and those who have never watched him before expect some sort of miracle player.

Every CB makes mistakes, they are playing against talented, and unpredictable attackers who get contracts because of their ability to make something out of very little.

He was pretty average, unfortunately the world class CB played for the other side hence Napoli barely created a chance.

Was a 6.5/10 for me tonight. The things he did well he did very well - headers, aggressive tackles when he had cover, some nice passes with either foot etc. But several times when he was with Salah and Mane, forwards with good movement, he didnt look anywhere near as good. Think he'd do great against the big lump strikers in the league but not so great against the smaller, quicker players with good movement. Albiol played somewhere near the same level but perhaps with less mistakes.

This is what i felt too, Albiol had a better game than KK.

He's brilliant. If we have a chance of getting him, we should absolutely go for it. Napoli demoted into Europa could actually be beneficial to us.

Salah just done him with a good burst. Played well from what ive seen but that was too easy for someone as highly thought of as him
Koulibaly was wrong footed as he had to take a chance on Salah cutting in. He owned Salah in a few foot races though, so definitely faster. Didn't Young also beat Salah in a foot race last year? Great acceleration, but only good top speed.

He looked decent but we really just need a leader at the back now. He’ll end up turning into one of our usual centre backs if we sign him.

He’s a great defender. Maybe the last one who may be somewhat attainable even.
