Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

Granted, I've not seen that many Liverpool games this season, but I'm really struggling to see how Klopp has improved them at all. I didn't expect him to get them in the top 4 or anything - their team is so average - but I was expecting to see some kind of hint that they might be a force in the future. Right now they look just as bland and clueless as they did under Rodgers, with the same frailties and flaws being exposed time and time again.
The big change is that almost the entire squad has tore their hamstrings.

That's going to happen a lot considering it's the same average players as Rodgers had, as you say. I do think our performances here and there have been better. You're forgetting how bad we'd become under Rodgers by the end. That first half performance at Old Trafford was unforgivable for example and he clearly had no idea how to use half the players at his disposal. Then you have the melt down at the back end of last season and the FA Cup semi final performance, and don't even get me started on that 6-1 at Stoke. Rodgers was entering his fourth year and Klopp is in his first season, and I'd say we're slightly better under Klopp so that probably puts the German in a better light.

I think we're better off with Klopp in the long run but I do have my doubts over whether he can deliver a league title. It seems as far away as it's ever been right now.

They are worse defending set pieces that's probably what I can see as a change so far.

He needs to stop fecking giving Benteke chances. Even in a friendly I'd rather he wasn't on the pitch.

Don't get me wrong, I do believe Klopp will improve Liverpool, but I just thought some of those improvements would be more clearly manifested in their performances. I'm of the belief that a truly elite manager can make a team greater than the sum of its parts, and that just doesn't seem to be happening at the moment.

On the brighter side for Liverpool fans, Sturridge looked pretty sharp. Keeping him fit would be a huge boost. I rate him highly.

Yeah true enough. It looked like it would at first with the Chelsea and City performances but I think he probably underestimated some of the mid table and lower down sides who can give anyone a game nowadays.

Yeah I thought he looked decent. I still expect him to be injured again within a couple of weeks. Getting Coutinho playing with Firmino would be good enough for me going forward.

I think Klopp will walk before he manages to turn Liverpool into a good team. Realistically they are still going to struggle to get top 4 next season regardless of who they sign, given how much competition there is in the league. He's realising just how difficult it is to manage in the Premier League, and just how difficult it is to manage shambles of a club like Liverpool - unless it starts going his way soon, the sensible move would be to abandon ship.

If he had that attitude he would have walked out of Dortmund too. They were in a worst state than we are now when he took over there.

Also I think Leicester and Spurs are proving that the top four spots are a free for all at the moment. It's not this monopoly that it used to be so we may see a few more oddities in there in the coming years.

'Klopper76'....bless.

Top 4 might be a free-for-all at the moment but that's the problem. Even if he can whip Liverpool into shape there's no guarantee that he'll get top 4 next season. He can do everything right and yet finish 5th if Chelsea and Man United start to perform as they should or even 6th or 7th if Spurs and Leicester turn up. His early years at Dortmund are a very different story because he wasn't an established manager at that time - staying on and hoping it would work out was his best option. If he doesn't get top 4 at Liverpool next season, I don't think staying on would be a very wise decision.

Leave my name alone.

I think he believes in the job at Liverpool and is here for the long run personally, regardless of whether we get top four next year or not. Whether he'd be allowed to stay on is another thing because with FSG you never know. They shocked me when Rodgers got the boot. If Mourinho came in at United right now and didn't get top four next season (missing out by a few points) would you want him sacked? I don't think clubs like Liverpool and United can work like that if they want to progress. It's about building for the long run.

What you say about the top four being no guarantee is applicable for everyone with the increased spending through out the league. Even Guardiola might struggle at City to adjust (stranger things have happened like Mourinho at Chelsea this year).

What's his record so far? Can't believe how many on here seem to have a fascination with the man. He comes across as a self obsessed egotistical twat.

29 games in charge, won 13 drew 9 lost 7 in all competitions. I don't think that's shocking depending on your expectations. Coming in a few weeks into the season probably hasn't helped.

I get that he might come across as a twat sometimes, some of his celebrations are over the top, but I don't really get the egotistical bit personally. I've always felt like he's been very honest in interviews. He should probably work on his attitude towards other managers though. These touch line war of words with opposition benches are a bit much.

That's if you count the game against Stoke where you lost (went through on penos) as a win.
Otherwise 29 games, 12 wins, 9 draws lost 8.

Edit:

12 teams Klopp has beat
Man City
Chelsea
Southampton
Stoke
Rubin Kazan
Exter
Bordeaux
Leicester
Bournemouth
Norwich
Swansea
Sunderland

You're right but it hurts my argument just a little bit so I counted that as a win. :D

He probably should be doing better really thinking about it. It's a tough league though and it's disrespectful to some of the sides who have improved this year and they deserve credit for raising the bar. If he doesn't win the League Cup then his first season starts to look like a bit of a mess. We'll see if he can keep Sturridge (probably not) and Coutinho fit and how that effects results.

His record so far is about the same as rafas when he first took over after a similar number of games. Also roughly similar to when Rodgers first took over.

It's not fair judge him now I think. We'll see in a couple of seasons.

I also think that you need to give the man at least one summer transfer window. It's not his team which is currently on the pitch.
He'll definitely get this summer, I was referring to the couple of seasons bit. If things are the same this time next year, he'll be close to the sack.

He's not going anywhere soon, and I think having a full transfer window to get his own players in will help enormously. Think having the Euros might hurt him a bit though, as no doubt he'd prefer to have a full summer to instill his methods. I expect them to be a lot stronger next year.

Though I also expected them to be a lot stronger this year once Klopp joined, so what do I know?

And how are they going to afford this spending spree? They've got nothing particularly valuable to sell, so it will have to come from other sources. How are they re:FFP now, assuming it's not completely dead?

Strange, Liverpool have just had a game and this fraudster's thread is lounging on the second page of this forum. :nono:

Come on Akash, at least put in a half arsed "Klopp was lucky to have met Villa" analysis.

Strange, Liverpool won and Dumbstar is back on this forum?

I guess it's Klopps team and squad when he wins, but when he loses he needs atleast 2-3 seasons?

Yay! Burrow, I've been away for weeks and weeks and weeks. Probably why I haven't seen you around. Yeah that must be why I haven't seen you around.

Hopefully the mini revivals continues.

Make sure they get EL football and Klopp is stupid enough to keep Mingolet,Clyne,Lovren,Sahko,Skrtel,Can,Henderson etc. Basically all of them.

Meh. That Villa side is terrible. Even Van Gaal might have struggled not to get us to score a couple.

They are only 3 point behind us, with a fit Sturridge, this is not good. By next week they may even be ahead of us.

Today was more about having Sturridge and Coutinho back than anything Klopp did. If Sturridge stays fit between now and the end of the season we'll probably end up top six and with a trophy. If not we will probably maintain a continuous run of erratic performances/results.

I'll reserve judgment on Klopp until next season when he's had a summer to bring a couple of players in.

They're ten times worse now than they were at the start.

Nah, they're not. They'd only lost one of their last 5 before this (winning two), which was their best run of the season. We just didn't realise how shit they were when we played them.
