the guy's desperate to join, and there's no point in hanging onto to a player when his dream move comes about, imagine his attitude if they kept him.</strong><hr></blockquote>

A bit like Rio transfer now, isn't it? Great to hear that he wants to join us.

Again, he's put himself in that 'no-way-back' position that Rio did. Let's just hope Fergie wants him as much as he wants us.

Sometimes Fergie's tactics kinda worry me, he breaks alot of rules etc, speaking to players before the club, basically convincing the player to join beforehand. It leaves their club very vulnerable.

Oh well, cant complain when we get great players.

Just love it when we tap players.Fergie has to be the tap master ;)

It is the first priority now. Hope Brown's injury is not that serious.

The guy's becoming desperate now. I guess we have to pull him out of there ASAP anyway.

Hope we buy him or he will have a hell in Rennes.

TribalFootball:
Rennes fullback Julien Escude has accused the club of being greedy in delaying his dream move to Manchester United.
The French U21 international returned to training yesterday after skipping on Tuesday, but admitted: "This is not easy.

"In my mind, I am more than ever in Manchester.

"My teammates understand I cannot pass up such an opportunity.

"The subject always returns to the question of money. It is the root of all evil.

"Even if there is a wonderful statement from Rennes that they will not let money get in the way of my transfer, it will still be threatening in the background."

Rennes and Manchester United are scheduled for fresh talks over the defender's transfer on August 25.

I fecking love this player already! He doesn't just want to come to us, he wants us to get a good deal on him too. Quality! :D

Where have I heard that before ;)

The boys clearly for us. Unfortunately the club are talking about not selling until they've recieved an "exceptional offer" (quote from Sky).

Same old same ol as far as interest from Man Utd is concerned.

They've now got an unhappy player on their hands. Offer them 4.3m or tell them to stick it.

As for Phil Nev. It's a pity that ball had to sail over 'his' head. He was an inch from clearing the ball and he gets slaughtered. Maybe he'll get a run, with Brown injured, and get some confidence back.

maybe should trade Phil for Escude?

LOL.
but Phil's having a fine game against West Brom now. Could have scored the opener.

I suppose it's of no surprise Escude is not in Rennes squad for tonight's match.

Surely there is only one way this could end.

We've apparently offered 2 million pounds.

Yeah, they stated that the offer was "almost insulting!"

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

ESCUDE IS COMING TO MAN UTD !!!

He was not "allowed" to play for his team in the French first division on Saturday, and the reason given was that the coach is trying new players since Escude is moving to Manchester United in the days to come...

He's practically ours guys! Hurrey!

Just heard this in the news... :)

Where are the quotes?

It doesn't mean anything to be honest. I said at the start of this saga, Escude has put himself in a bad position (as Rio did) by publically claiming his desire to be a red. If the deal fails to materialise, which it could well do, it's clear the clubs cannot agree a fee, then he's up slack-alley basically.

The clue is that the Rennes manager said that the offer was insulting and did not deny the fact that the player is going or not...

On the other hand, as I said, Escude was not even on the bench on Saturday, and he has no injury.

How can a key player like Escude not play in such an important match? The reporter also said that he was not allowed to play because of a probable move to Man Utd and that the coach is trying new players...

I wouldn't assume it's because he's not been in training the entire week as protest about not being allowed to move!

Important game? The league's just started!

Escude pleads for United dream move and will keep on fighting...

fecking cheapo plc board. We can pay for Rio but not for a alented left back that costs £4-5 million.Instead they are offering £2m million.Pay up we need defensive covr what if Silvestre gets injured now.No lb cover as Phil (i suck) Neville is rb.

Cheap PLC? What do you expect them to do? Ask other clubs to name their price and just pay whatever they want?

Yeah but to offer £2 million for a player that are rated at £5 million and the club doesnt want to sell makes no sense.

Rated at 5m by WHOM with 5m? By them.

We made our starting bid and with Escude not really being of any playing value for Rennes at the moment I believe we'll end up clinching a 4m deal or so. But there's no point in just throwing money at them straight away.

They want £5 million but why offer £2 million then when they know it will be rejected.Offer £4 million and put some pressure on them.

From ManUtd.com

Julien Escude;
"It's an incredible opportunity for me and this is what I want the Rennes directors to understand," he said on Tuesday.

"A career in football is short and things are always going fast, that is why it is important to seize the opportunities when they come up. It is time for me to move on and reach another step in my career.

"I have been repeating since the season started that I wanted to leave, I will keep fighting to be heard. I have spent three great seasons with Rennes but I have other objectives and ambitions now.

"Manchester knocked on my door and that makes me dream, makes me feel like going, this club is so prestigious. And if Rennes sell me it can only be beneficial to them, they will see their reputation grow thanks to that transfer."<hr></blockquote>

Escude just can't wait to meet fergie and his potential team mates - smacks of desperation and shades of stam here

Apparently Escude's just suffered knee ligament damage after slipping while out walking his dog...bummer.
Not sure how serious, but it looks like he's on crutches!
