Julian Weigl | Mail Online Sport - "Next On List After Matic & Dier"(Out Injured Until September)

Weigl is a player very much like Carrick in playing style and has very impressive passing stats. We should get him if possible along with Dembele and Tierney from Celtic.

Dier would make sense if we are looking for a Carrick replacement otherwise it doesn't make sense that we replace every English player with a foreign one. At some point we will need some British lads in the team to meet the homegrown quota

Homegrown doesn't mean British...

Just throw Dortmund €120 million and bring Dembele along with Weigl.

Cheers Ed.

He's basically a younger version of Carrick. It would be a fantastic signing but I cannot see him leaving this season, neither us going for him while he is injured.

He was born to play for united. And he deserves to play for a massive club in a proper world class league. I can see him joining United this summer.

Maybe they switched from Fabinho to Weigl knowing Atletico were favorites to land the Brazilian. Would not mind Weigl or Dendoncker on this team.

If he was fit I think this would've been done by now. I do wonder who Jose has in mind for MF with Fabinho looking AM bound, Bakayako to Chelsea and I don't see Levy giving up Dier. Matic even after we embarrassed Chelsea?

is this AM bound comment just coming from an AS report?

Yes and it doesn't seem like we're too interested anyway. From everything I read Jose wants Dier and I don't see it happening.

Which credible reports have us linked to Dier? Di Marzio suggested we are in for Fabinho multiple times and I rate him higher than most the Dier links to be honest. His hit rate is far better than the others.

And AS is a pile of shite, if you're just going by that then he doesn't look Atletico Madrid bound. They said we'd sign James "in 24 hours" in early June, and that Morata was a done deal, etc. This is just from recent memory but I recall them being generally terrible last season too.

If a credible journalist actually put their name on the story I'd believe it. Someone knowledgeable about the club, agent or player. That's not the case though.

Nonsense, Dortmund are a selling club first and foremost. Being a Bayern fan you should know that better than anybody. €120m for either one of Dembele or Weigl would get them.

Out injured until September so I don't see it. However, he's a lovely player. Next summer to replace Carrick.

I think he meant both for 120

Being a bayern fan he is hoping they could could aquire one or both for themselves and us bidding drives the price up..... "Bigly"

Is he? I thought the Telegraph are one of the few trustworthy news publications in the UK

Not always. For example Drucker is very good with Man Utd news but he's not fantastic anymore as he was when he was with Times. Ogden is a United specialist on Telegraph too, but he only had good sources during Moyes' time. I think Matt Law is a Chelsea specialist IIRC.

They sell players when their contracts run down. Weigl still has a lot of years on his contract.

I don't like the idea of an injured player who won't be available till September and may take time to restore his fitness and find his form. We should look for an option who will be available immediately.

I am wary of Dortmund's CM/DMs as they often seem to be injury prone e.g. Sahin, Gundogan and Bender

Until the German media report something regarding this potential transfer. I won't be getting my hope up.

pipe dream imo. I just can't see him wanting to come to United at the moment and vice versa. For a young player with his physique and style of play It'd be a dumb career move to come to United. We are a defensive team with very little ideas of how to attack, our manager insists on bypassing midfield and hoofing to a big CF. He'd thrive in a possession based or high pressing system though.

Feck me

What  For 120 they would bite both our hands off for either of them. 120 for both of them is actually a bit much. They are raw as hell.

Raw is the last thing I would describe Weigl with. He has an extremely mature, consistent and calm play style, not only for his age but in general. That is his greatest asset and makes him so valuable in the very demanding and pivotal role as midfield anchor of a European top 8 team. Weigl has shown more than just talent and potential. He already performed on the highest club level.

Dembele on the other hand is still extremely unpolished, but has already enough flair and such brutal potential that I would estimate his realistic market value somewhere between 80 and 100 Mil. €.

120 Mil. € would of course be an insane sum for Weigl alone as defensive midfielder (and other the top for Dembele aswell) and probably make the Dortmund officials comtemplate a transfer. in that case Weigl would still have to be willing to actually move aswell, though, which I don´t see happening at all this Summer.

120 Mil. € for both would be a pipe dream by the other party.
