Jude Bellingham | Real Madrid player

Why does this forum dislike Bellingham so much?

He isnt the best player in the world but he is clearly very good while also still very young.

For me personally, his conduct and behavior over the two semi-final legs last season was enough to despise him.

But considering this is a United forum I'd guess his cringy behavior when subbed of at the euros were enough for many. I also think players getting credit for being a different kind of player than they are in reality is a massive pet peeve for some, me included.

That said, he is still a very talented player and is very good at that what he is at the moment. A dynamic attacking midfielder with an eye for a goal. Still, I think the most impressive thing about him is his age, and not really his ability.

Someone called him the "Haaland of midfielders" once and that is pretty apt (in the sense that his impact is very limited in the general play)

Bit like pogba. Very talented player but his ego gets the better of him. Thinks he’s untouchable.

I don't dislike him. I think that he is just one of those overrated players. I really think that fans are exaggerate quality of the players to much nowdays. A player like him wouldn't get this much credit and praise if he played in 80's or 90's.

It’s insane the level of hate he gets. He’s no Zidane as some have said, but he’s clearly a very talented young player. But respected long term posters write stuff like he’s “utter shite” and the like. Baffling.

It's because he turned us down. And you can't argue he did the wrong thing.

That would be me. I wanna precise, his form has been utter shite for a few months now. The player is clearly very talented

Not really, just brutal honesty. I couldn't care less about Jude joining the team or not

It doesn't matter how talented you are when you come across as an arrogant prick who thinks he is better than everyone else on the pitch. Lad needs to be humbled, and his current form is doing it for him.

Watching his Youtube series he comes across very well. The kind of person raised well. I think this combined with his age rubs people the wrong way.

It’s funny that it might be his only time ever on the Ballon d’Or podium and he missed out on it because Vini and Perez had a tantrum. Obviously he’ll expect to be there again, but there is no guarantee that a centre midfielder gets in the top 3 in any given year unless they do something special. De Bruyne for example despite all his success has only been in the top 3 once.

True. The award normally favours goalscorers. Bellingham scored plenty last season which is why he was in contention but he hasn't scored any this one and he's been forced to do more donkey work to cover for Mbappe. That will hurt his chances for the award going forward, assuming he gives a sh!t, which he shouldn't.

That's just ridiculous. Maybe if you didn't use hyperbole so much you could be a bit more credible. While hasn't scored any goals, he is consistently one of Madrid's more consistent players. If a player was performing like that for us we'd be raving about him.

I don't care about being credible, I know what I have been watching. He's been terrible for a while now

So why don't Real Madrid fans share your thoughts?

If a world class player performs way below his actual talent and standards, then surely he is in poor form?

Because "only" being consistently good would be great for United, but below par for Real Madrid.

Thought he was genuinely shit against Barcelona in particular, and not shown the same level as last season, and I'm not just talking about the lack of goals. He just doesn't look the same player to me.

He has to play a different role now, so it's not surprising that he looks different. He can't join the attack as he did last season because Mbappe is in the way, and he needs to take more responsibility in the buildup because Real don't have a single player who can replace what Kroos did in that area.

Real just should have broken the bank for Rodri (which would also have meant that they wouldn't have needed to boycott the Ballon d'Or yesterday :lol) instead of signing Mbappe.

I have a feeling United will try and go in for him, maybe not next summer necessarily but if all goes well with Amorim he'd surely be someone we go for as the last piece of the puzzle.
He'd fit in perfectly behind the main striker as one of the two attacking midfielders.

From his point of view he's already won the lot with them, and now that Mbappes come in, he's just another galactico. And with Vini pushing for the Ballon Dor so aggressively it makes me think if Bellingham and Vini were both up for the award, it'd cause real tension in the ranks with the club probably wanting Vini to win.

All that to say if Bellingham wants to be the main man, the face of a global club and an English footballing legend, he needs to come to the Premier League (or win a WC/Euro). No doubt all of City, Liverpool and Arsenal would be right in the mix if that happened but with our new "project" if we're even halfway good we'd have a really good chance. /end muppeteering

His performance in the second half here has been comically bad. Some horrible involvements.

The way he started was never sustainable. He is still a good player and isn't playing too badly, it's just not as flashy as it was in the first half of last season. I think he will be with them for a long time but more as a cog in the machine as opposed to the star player because he was never good enough to be on that level but he's still definitely good enough to be a consistent started for them.

He’s 21 with less than half a season of sub-stellar performances (he’s been decent generally but just a different role in the team). Get a grip.

It is almost a year of underperforming to the standards put on him after his first few months.

Why not, though? That’s probably in their interests. They can get the fee back and maybe more then invest it in better technical players. Once you have Mbappe and Bellingham in the changing room together the KNUT factor is high, very high.

The problem with overhyping a player is that it's going to be really hard to live up to that expectation. He isn't playing great for the last few months but he isn't completely sh*t either.
When he started for Madrid, people were already raving about how good he was and that he was putting numbers like Ronaldo for Madrid (in terms of scoring goals). How can you even maintain that kind of expectation

Exactly! I remember people were already talking about him being the new Zidane or the best English player ever. It was insane. It happens with so many English players and we saw it at the last Euros. It's not that they are not good, it's that they get spoken about that they are the very very best after one or two good seasons.
