Jude Bellingham | Real Madrid player

People will focus in on an assist that he really couldn’t get wrong, but he was a bit of an invisible man in the CL knockouts. Even tonight he was anonymous until they got in front.

Bit of an attention seeker. Had him pegged as a quiet humble type but he always seems to be acting up one way or another

After winning, he had that face that he wanted to cry to show "passion" but the tears didnt come out

Subpar overall in the CL knockout games, but excellent season as evidenced by the La Liga player of the season award he won and deservedly so, and which is as telling as a few champions league games, if not more, at the end of the day.

The media needs to stop with the Ballon d'Or talk though, unless he has a massive Euro.

He had an assist in the CL final and his team won. He is only 20 and he was voted La Liga Player of the Year.

It has been a fantastic first season with Real for him. He will probably become one of the best midfielders in the world.

This is what I mean when I say England's midfield is unbalanced with Rice, Mainoo and Bellingham. Bellingham should probably play as a forward if he is going to start for England. He's not a capable midfielder.

Never felt he was quite as good as the hype, but what I will say is that his parents have managed his career perfectly so far. They’ve made all of the right decisions at every step of his journey and put him in the best places for the talent he has to be amplified, but he’s no one-off, natural footballer that comes along a few times in a generation for me. If he’s forced to play in a more traditional midfield role as Madrid make attacking additions, I think he will be shown up. More of an Atletico midfielder than a Real one to me.

Not a great game but he influences things in the last third and you know in the last 15-20 mins he will make something happen usually, got an assist, very close to scoring if not for a very good late tackle to send his shot wide. England really need to utilize him better around the box, they could be euro winners.

Been really poor lately. Still can't believe some of the OTT praise in this thread earlier in the season.

He was very meh today. On the other hand one always forgets that he’s only 20 year old.

Hope he plays better for England. Absolute stinker today.

Wasn’t he basically brilliant until his injury and has struggled since he came back? Shock horror a 20 year olds form drops off as they tire later in the season.

He was very good to start the season, but there were people saying he'd surpass Zidane and he could be the best midfielder of all time(he doesn't even play as a midfielder in all honesty).

The praise was horribly OTT.

He has the same ability that Platini had of emerging from deep at the perfect moment to get a finish; even in this bad game, he had two or three of those moments. Not much else though. He has good dribbling skills, but not enough to be a consistent menace; his passing and link up are pretty normal.

It was ridiculous to even suggest he is at the same level with Vinicius as is suggested in some quarters
There is absolutely nothing in his game to suggest he will a world beater that the press will have us believe. In this Real Madrid team, he is a passenger. Once the hype dies down, he doesn't make the first 11 for sure.

Only silver lining is his age; he has time on his side.

I get the feeling some people don't watch La Liga.

Regarding the bolded, that's one of the most ridiculous statements about this season I've ever heard.

He literallly carried the team for about half the season.

That is no shame though. Vinicius only has Mbappe who is at his level and Mbappe wins that discussion on reputation and not just on quality on the pitch. Vinicius is disliked because of his diving and manners on the pitch. Eventhough i find it fair he does respond to the (racist) abuse he often receives.

It always suprises me when Vinicius is not mentioned in Ballon D'or conversations. Vinicius is one of the best in the world. Vinicius is a better player than Bellingham but Bellingham is still one of the better midfielders in the world.

Because as someone who watches Vini on a week to week basis, he is one of the most frustrating, mercurial and annoying players around.

He could dribble past 3 players time after time one match, and then spend the next 90 diving and rolling around and lashing out and getting into altercations.

When Vini is good, he is so good. When Vini is bad, he is *so* bad.

EDIT - Also his dry run in the first half of the season was bad. He was partly injured, which didn't help, but by the halfway point of La Liga he had scored 4 goals and made 1 assist.

He's clearly been overplayed and needs his minutes better managed. He's a freak talent, but still so young.

Frustrating that I doubt we'll see the best of him at the Euros.

He hasn't featured at all in 5 of their last 11 league games. How many minutes would have been the right pace?

What does this have to do with managing minutes? If he's not fit to play and needs more rest, then he should sit out.

Yeah, he should, but sometimes players need to be told they shouldn't be playing for their health and Real Madrid didn't provide that decision for him.

I've seen 90% negative reviews of a 20 year old who just won La Liga and Champions League, was almost top scorer in La Liga from midfield, scored late winners in both classicos, key assist in the final tonight, has played the with the grace of Zidane at times. I've heard some saying he shouldn't start with England. This place can be feckin bonkers at times.

All at the age of 20.

feck me, if we had a 20 year old central midfielder who can play at a high level, 6,8,10, score 30 goals a season and win the league-europe double whilst being the main man, he'd be seen as God.

But no, apparently that makes you the next Dele Alli.

We hype up Kobbie Mainoo but say Bellingham is shit - it's mental.

to be fair he’s obviously an excellent player but the media are laying it on so thick it’s hard not to want to nitpick his performances, BBC Sport literally tweeted a Zidane vs Bellingham poll yesterday

He's excellent for someone that's only 20, but he's not an elite midfielder yet because he doesn't have the high level specialisation of the likes of Modric, Kroos, Cas.. yet. Push him further back into midfielder when a striker starts and a lot of his goals dissappear. He's only 20 though so he has 5+ years to improve before he hits his peak, which is crazy really.

Currently though, and this is probably controversial, if you gave me the choice between him and Camavinga? I'd take Cama. That kid is already an elite footballer, everything is effortless for him. Crazy part is Madrid signed him for only £35m..

Camavinga's problem is he's too ill disciplined in positioning to be a proper defensive midfielder, and too random and has bad decision making in the final 3rd to be elite on the other side of the pitch.

That's why at Real, when everyone is fit, he is basically the 5th choice midfielder.

Bellingham, Kroos, Valverde, Tchoumeni are all ahead of him.

I refuse to believe anyone with talent in this generation is humble. I was laughing when he was crying fake tears.
