Jude Bellingham | Real Madrid player

What a midfield they have. Imo the CL title next year will be between them and City.

No it won't be, don't think we will be anywhere close, actually.

See, all these signings look nice on paper, but its not going to work out in practise.

Nothing against the Jude, but he is just another similiar midfielder to what we already have, we don't have a creator, a number 10 who plays at CM.

Also, we have big issues in attack, at fullbacks, thats the areas we need to reinforce most.

It's not easy. But it's a nice position to be in, having a number of players that are highly-rated and show potential.

The previous Real Madrid had Modric, Kroos, Casemiro, Illarramendi, Isco, James, and Lucas Silva. Some worked amazingly, some didn't quite make it, some flopped horribly. What you'd hope is that from Bellingham, Camavinga, Tchouameni, and Valverde, two can be starters and one can be starter-ish. Anything else is a bonus. Valverde is already there as starter-ish.

Agreed. We kinda lucked out with Modric-Case-Kroos. Not feasible to follow that up seamlessly. Case is the easiest to replace and I’m fine with Tchou/Cama in that position. Not as good defensively (Cama at least, Tchou better in that regard), but much better on the ball.

Kroos controlling the tempo, Modric breaking the press. Those are things we will be missing. Kroos literally instructed players while on the ball and that lead to goals. Modric helped us transition from defense to attack and giving that final push in the box. Kroos and Modric pinging the ball with ease undres press. I’ll miss those two so much :(

This new gen is less technical and more athletic, question is whether Carlo is going to utilize that. So yeah, unfair to expect them to follow that trio with ease but it is indeed a good position to be in. Could be much worse…(thinks of Khedira in midfield)

You're a Madrid fan so I'll take your words on this then. Tbh I don't watch Madrid much.

Trio of, say, Jude - Tchoameni - Valderde, may look good, but it has deficiencies that will become clear soon enough, i think.

Wow. Bit of an exaggeration maybe?

Not at all. He’s 8 years younger. He could be sold a further 3 times for over €100m in his career.

As good as Grealish is, I can’t imagine him ever being sold for more than City paid for him. They overpaid for a player that has needed 1.5 seasons to be moulded into a player that they can use.

Bellingham is already a far more complete player. I think he’s criminally underrated. He’ll be up there with Charlton, Robson, Gascoigne, Rooney, among the best English players of all time if he has a full and injury free career.

Their first major mistake in rebuilding their midfield i reckon, it won't pan out and I think they got suckered in by the hype.

Wait till he is getting regular minutes over other midfield players in Real Madrid. He could be in Premier league within 2-3 years for Real to recoup most of the money if he couldn’t.

Am I the only one thinking it's very hard to determine what those midfielders are because they are incredibly young and have huge room for maturing their game?

I mean, Bellingham is 19 years old and Camavinga is 20 years old. We should see them play together for a while.

But to start with, and I agree with this topic some Twitter accounts raised, Real Madrid won't have any excuses to move the team way forward and press up now, which is something they could barely do before with Modric and Kroos in recent seasons having to rely on a low block.

If Madrid sign a competent striker who can score and link up with Vinicius and Rodrygo and midfielders (Bellingham, Valverde) contribute to the score with their box to box capabilities I would say many of the main issues are sorted for a while.
It's a lot you lose with the absence of a good Kroos and great Modric. Obviously, Father Time took care of that, but your ability to kill or control games or simply play out of supposedly tight situations was legendary.

If you are sticking with these guys, you're obviously moving to a modern, high pressing and rapid, high pitch turnover model. Klopp's wet dream with your midfield personnel, actually, but it will come at a cost, especially in games you are behind in, when those tenets aren't as important as subtlety, guile and that innate sense of tempo and rhythm you're famed for.

When the game slows down, or needs that paced composure, that quartet are going to have to learn a hell of a lot.

I suppose it depends on how your midfield is being set up. It's a more industrious and less controlling midfield but I think it has the potential to be an outstanding midfield. It's not going to be like Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta but I think there have been some top teams that haven't necessarily had that controller or traditional creative player to pull the strings. In recent years, Liverpool is an obvious example and going back some years, I would say some Bayern Munich or Germany teams were technically proficient without necessarily having a traditional creator.

You may be right but I think Bellingham has enough technical quality. Being greedy maybe I'd get rid of Ceballos and try to promote Nico Paz, a hispano-argentine from the youth academy, or buy some low profile creative midfielder to hold up the ball at certain times, a "slim Isco". Perhaps Havertz could play that role between the lines?
The next problem will be to replace/play someone in Kroos' place. I've heard it could be Valverde, delaying him and moving him to the left, where Kroos usually initiates play, or Camavinga alone.
What doesn't quite fit me is a Tchouameni-Camavinga in the same line.
There's a fair few questions that will have to be answered, but I don't look at that collective and think it's optimal; I think you have seriously talented individuals there, however, was wishing us to buy both of your French kids.

Seems a mad amount to spend on yet another potentially top class midfielder. But hey ho, probably just the jealousy speaking.

It's a bold move for him and much more interesting than the boring option of coming back to England. I wish him well but Madrid is probably the hardest place in the world to make it. If he does it then he will be every bit the player that @UnrelatedPsuedo has predicted.

Especially when you need two new strikers, two new fullbacks, and probably a new right forward.

It is.
The club's gotten too caught up in specific transfer targets in recent years, at the expensive of having normal movements. The result is a thin squad in dire need of extra bodies.

Unpopular opinion. I don’t think he’s going to be a success there. They have great options in midfield. I’m not convinced they’ll all get to make a cohesive midfield unit.

Weird feeling that this guy won't hit the highs he/the media claim he will.

Question (not hating) but does a midfield trio of Jude, Camavinga and Tchouameni work?

Not sure where they will play Camavinga long term, might not be in midfield. Problem with being so versatile and naturally talented, is that you are fitted in away from your best position.

Lets see how yet another stupidly expensive Dortmund player fares in another league.

It’ll be interesting to see how he settles. Im not convinced yet that playing BL is a good sign of anything at that age. Could either be a world class midfielder for 10 years or 100m down the drain

Interesting. How do you think you'll line up in midfield? Valverde the most likely to miss out I'd assume?

don’t think he’s that versatile rather he just happens to be left footed. I think he’s the key to their midfield in the long term

When Bellingham eventually takes over for Modric, I imagine Madrid fans will be shocked how big the drop in quality will really be.

He is too good to fail. Worst case he won’t be as good as the fee suggests, but he won’t completely flop and Madrid will easily be able to sell him to the Premier League.
The fee is high, but if you take into account the fees paid for Antony, Havertz, Sancho and a lot of other expensive recent transfers in the PL alone, it doesn’t seem that high any longer.
I am sure we will also not hear endless excuses for him such as “he needs this and that system, needs to play in position x, needs coach y, needs this full back behind him, this player next to him, blah blah to perform at a decent level “.

Valverde, then Modric and Kroos. Midfield was pretty random this year, at least in the league it would rotate almost every game (plus some midfielders were playing out of position).

I find it amazing to believe that there are still people that doubt Real Madrid, the most successful club of all time, have a clue what they are doing in signing Jude Bellingham.

You did not see Real Madrid scouting department looking at Weghorst, Sancho, or Anthony did you?

do you have all watched Jude Bellingham, get 2 man of the match performances against Manchester City the best team in the world right now. Jude has just won player of the season in the Bundesliga.

The saltiness is not based on facts, it’s just based on purely because he turned Man United previously right?

That's fair enough but what about the Real Madrid supporters on this forum who aren't exactly excited by his arrival or regular Bundesliga watchers who don't rate him as highly as you do .

Whats their motivation I wonder .

If you want to read 100% of the posts heaping praise on your Jude, then you should join his family whatsapp group and keep reading those messages.

Apart from that Bellingham is rated highly on caf, just because there are few posts here and there who have some doubts on him doesn't mean there should be some historical event that triggered it. Also there are few who don't doubt his individual quality but how the collection of midfielders at Madrid will control the game as they had players like Kroos, Modric who were excellent at it.

If you want to play "Madird didn't look at Weghorst, Sancho" game, Madrid also signed Jovic, Odriozola, Mariano Diaz, Morata, Danilo. It's doesn't support or negate your argument, that point is just useless.

They also splashed a record fee for hazard and gone in for the likes of jovic.

They're the best run football club in the world(city notwithstanding) but they're not perfect, no one is.

Great reply. You are right, I probably do see more of the negative than the positive.

He’s the right kind of character for your club though. Just ain’t to pick up him on a Bosman at 26.

???
Vini Jr - Valverde - Rodrygo
Bellingham - Camavinga

Theyll be set long term if they can get a striker.

Ofcourse he is but not every player we want would end up playing for us. Bellingham is just one player, there are plenty more players who can help you win things, or help to build great team. He isn't realistic target anymore, don't think any ManUtd fan would be dreaming about him.

It was the same here when City signed Haaland, everyone had been drooling over him all season and wanted us to sign him. When he signed for City, he was suddenly doomed and we all know how that turned out. There are also people who try to push the narrative that every player who leaves Dortmund is destined to fail outside the Bundesliga, yet strangely 90% of those Dortmund flops seem to end up in our squad. Hmm, I wonder why that is?
