He went to Dortmund instead

That’s odd, that Gilmour did play for Rangers. He’s been up against decent opposition prior to Chelsea
Ah ok!He played for their u20s. The u18s PL is better than that level.
It’s just a numberPretty sure he didn’t play a first team game.
And how old are you?
It's odd that people consider Dortmund the pinnacle for a young player these days.
They buy talent and play them, then end up selling them, rinse repeat...
Not saying thats bad for a young lads career, but they're playing in a league were beyond Bayern, they've mostly been able to have a freeish run at second.
United are up their with Dortmund when it comes to giving youth a chance, especially from our own academy, so I find it intriguing how people paint Dortmund as the pinnacle
It'll be staggered over a number of years, whether that be £30m or £50m. And if the club believe he will reach a world class level then it's worth it.Depending on where you read, we could sign this kid for anything between £30m - £50m.
He's 16 years old, so many other 'wonder kids' in the past end up fizzling out with the weight of expectation. At £30m you could maybe justify a gamble but anything around £50m would be mental.

Gilmour is 2 years older, to be fair. Bellingham is ridiculously young. He’s born in 2003, ffs!I don’t get the idea that we loan him back to Birmingham. Championship football is a decent level and he’s very comfortable with that. Surely he needs to step up to continue his rapid progress and getting 10-12 starts with us next season in the cups and odd PL fixtures will be best for him. Chelsea wouldn’t dream of loaning that Gilmour lad out, nor City with Foden and if this kid is as good as they say he needs to be valued and nurtured in the same way.
They're a stepping stone club which has over the years bought players at a young age to sell them on for profit. Michael Zorc has said in interviews that they don't have the financial muscle of a club like Man Utd and operate to buy young players, develop them as first team players and pave the way for them to join a elite level club later. RB Leipzig operate in a similar fashion. It's very easy to see why it would be beneficial for a young player to join Dortmund. It's odd that people consider Dortmund the pinnacle for a young player these days.

Regarding the Dortmund links. People maybe forget the impact going to Dortmund would have on family life. The kid is still 16 he won’t want to go on his own nor will his parents want to leave him.
United makes much more sense and is much less of a life upheaval for the family. Money is important clearly but not everything
I recall the big guns coming out for Eden Hazard's tour of United. I await the outcome of this, but it seems we really want him.
Don’t get me started on this. A club with 80,000 fans every week and zero ambition. Absolutely worshipped in some quarters. It’s ridiculous.

The club got their act together regarding young players several years ago tbf.Whatever the outcome, it's another positive sign that the club are getting their act together
That happened?
Apparently he was given a tour of the club and met Fergie.
I think its from a twitter plank who people pretend is ITK.Hard to believe that Cantona was brought in. Seems like such a random person to pull. Cantona has no current links to the club, not even an ambassador. Sir Alex will be more believable if the club did indeed pulled in an influential figure to help in the persuasion of the kid and his family
I don't think anyone is saying that or even the young players going there see it as that. Everyone sees Dortmund as a stepping stone and given their recent record a very good stepping stone for big money moves. It's odd that people consider Dortmund the pinnacle for a young player these days.

Based on the fee alone he seems like a Wayne Rooney level talent. Great business if we pull it off, also a big feck you to Dortmund.
He may have signed a precontract agreement for professional terms upon his 17th. So we would have to go through the courts which would be expensive in itself and will culminate with a compensation package regardless. Doing it up front with Birmingham is quicker and less painful. Is he joining for free? He is 16 years old, so he can sign for free before the summer as long as I remember!
Please no Rooney comparison. The boy was a freak at 16. He took the piss out of us at OT a year before he joined
Ole was a Liverpool fan. Means nowt to some!
