Juan Mata

And my assumption turned up to be true. He confirmed it and please be a little smart buddy the statement or assumption I just made is too obvious why would an United fans was watching Herrera from where he played at Zaragoza all the way to Atl Bilbao.
I already said I've watched him at Bilbao, but carry on with your personal assumptions.

I still think he'll be given a chance.

What makes you think that, having just bought a guy for the right wing, with Rooney basically being No 10 or nothing, and stories already coming out about him being sold?
Remember the Rooney bid years back, where Chelsea were apparently willing to switch Mata or Luiz? Noone could believe they were really trying to sell them, but then sure enough both went, and for huge fees.

Fingers crossed we get a proper fee.
None of this £3-4m to Everton or Sunderland sh!T

There's still a remote chance for him as he can be reliable free kick specialist.

Ibra right & Mata left footed.
Mourinho doesn't have left foot fetish like LVG. Jones will impress Mourinho with his corner kick though

I don't know why are you acting like a kid. I made statement that you haven't watch him since he was at Zaragoza which turned up to be true.

Do I have to have watched him since youth teams now? I've seen him since he was 21, he's 26 right now, Is 5 years not good enough to make a personal judgement?

I don't want to get engaged in pointless discussions and personally I don't like your attitude, so let's move on.

You said it was his worst season in his career. So is five years fair enough to make a personal judgement of someone else career? And you mentioned this before we were linked with him during Moyes which was 3 years ago, I see so you have been following him before we even linked with him then.
If you want move on then why are you replying my post again? You need to stop to be stubborn mate.

And also I ain't surprised with people who is a fans of Mata will say negative stuff about Rooney. And it's not me who make those unfair comparison from the start. Tell the original poster!
And when did I say you can't joined to my conversation? Please don't make such a lie statement again Mr "who jumped right to conclusions" I'm just telling you to read the whole discussion before jump to it.
Well someone seems full of self importance. I'm not sure if your being serious or trying to intentionally to wind people up. The negative stuff about Rooney is warranted, you said players shouldn't be judged on previous ability or achievements and Rooney hasn't done much in the last 2-3 seasons. Rooney was a great player for us, but I feel his time is done. He lacks the pace and touch to be an attacking threat for us and regularly gives the ball away. I'm not a crazy fan of Mata but I think he still has something to offer us, and I would like him to stay and have another season playing in the #10 position. But after the Mourinho presser it seems Rooney will be occupying that role.

I watch all different football leagues and whilst I don't watch every single game of a particular team in that league I watch quite a few involving the same teams throughout the season. So whilst it would probably be unlikely, its still feasible he could have spotted Herrera for himself and seen what a good player he is.

I might have been referring to this -

On 3 July 2012, Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson confirmed that Pogba had left the club after not signing a new contract. Ferguson stated that Pogba had signed for Italian club Juventus "a long time ago as far as we're aware." Ferguson also accused Pogba of disrespecting Manchester United, saying, "It is disappointing. I don't think he showed us any respect at all, to be honest. I'm quite happy that if they [footballers] carry on that way, they're probably better doing it away from us." On 27 July, Juventus confirmed on their official website that Pogba had undergone a medical at the club, and the transfer was completed on 3 August, when he signed a four-year contract. Just reading that GOT Everton forum and apparently earlier this evening, the ofiicial Everton Twitter retweeted a fan mad pic of Mata in an Everton shirt. They then deleted it a bit later.
I don't know if that means anything.

Nah, I was being serious.
Yes the negative stuff is warranted to Rooney but that also need to be applied to Mata who also hasn't done much in 2-3 years. Don't you agree?

If Rooney got one that means Mata should received the same thing. You called Rooney lacks touch but how many weakness Mata has compared to Rooney, way more. You called Rooney for giving the ball away too much but Mata also does the same thing how many times he loses possession easily because he lacks physical attributes. Rooney is still offering more pace than Mata.

I think the issue is Mourinho sees Rooney as a forward. Mata has to "make way" for another midfielder, Herrera can be kept for squad depth and will have his moments.

I really like Mata but he's not what United need right now.

As sad as it is to see someone like Mata leave the club, I think it is in both the player and the club's best interest if he were to move out (to Everton). I would have loved to see him in a sort of a #10 role but I believe Rooney is going to be shoehorned there.

The only downside is that his departure will probably mean that we play Lingard on the right in the cup/Europa games and I'm definitely not a fan of Lingard.

Off GOT -

Chatting to some United fans here in Altrincham, they love Mata and say he was their most creative midfielder last season.

They also see it as a new Everton, rather than taking Clevs / Gibsons, we are now taking one of their best players.
:D

Dunno why people think he 'wasn't that good for Man Utd', uh, he ran the show most of the time!

You gotta love 'new money', it always goes to their head.

Rooney cant play all games as No 10 so mata will get enough games and Herrera will get games as 8. Considering we now have a bit of pace on the RW Mata will thrie playing with Martial, Marcus and Miki

ST: Zlat, Rash, Martial, Rooney
LW: Martial, Depay
CAM: Rooney, Mata, Adnan, Pereira(or the other way round)
RW: Mkhitaryan, Lingard, Adnan(or the other way round)
CM: New Signing, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Carrick, Schweinsteiger, Fellaini

Herrera and Fellaini can play CAM as well, not very well but good enough to be 4th choice. Unless Lingard is sold which is unlikely or Adnan loaned(again unlikely) we will be having backup to 1st choice. As much as I want him to stay, due to the no. of options we are having, it looks unlikely that he will stay.
And I have assumed that Young will be sold and Valencia will be used only for RB

Will be interesting this time next year on that forum, after its finally dawned on half of those nutters how many limitations he comes with, and just how often he fades out of games.

Are you ignoring all those on here who also think he is one of our better players

I would be one of them who think that too
I was laughing more at how they think they are 'taking him from us', when in reality we are getting rid.
Also there are a bunch of our players i'd say are more important than Mata, he's a luxary player but with not anything luxary about him, apart from the goal he always scores right when the kinives are out for him.

A better number 10 than Rooney

That's debatable. Even if it's true its hardly a statement considering how Rooney's been playing for the last few seasons. And even with that in mind Mata, for all the talk of beeing one of our most productive players, has never in a season since joining us produced more goals/assists than Rooney.

You could say Sir Alex direspected Pogba when he played Park and Rafael I think it was ahead of him in central midfield. Also brought Scholes back from retirement while harping on about our youngsters. At the end of the day we lost Pogba because Sir Alex couldn't or didn't want to handle or be friends with Raiola.

Has there been a single credible link to Everton yet or is it all based on a random tweet?

The 'ITK' on GOT , who has connections with the club and always gets everything right apparently, he says that they are in for him and its pretty much done. Judging from the replys, this guys is a trusted source.

How do they compare from open play do you know?

If you're thinking of retracting penalties from the equation its 41 goals/assists -10 goals from penalties for Rooney =31 goals/assists in the last two seasons. Compared to Mata who's got 35 g/a from the last two seasons -3 goals from penalties = 32. So not much difference even then.

Edit: accidently counted penalties scored for national teams aswell. So Rooney's score for us is actually a total of 37.

Agreed.

But I seem to remember that SAF was also qouted along the lines of ' When he's established as a first team player at Manchester United, the money will follow' or words to that effect.

In other words, he seemed to suggest that Pogba went to Juve for the money - not wholly for the reasons you state, but / and which are also completely true.

For that reason, I don't want Pogba back at OT. This guy and his agent are everything that is wrong with football these days - money, money, money

He should do a Evra and hit the gym this summer. If he would be stronger he would be one of the best players in the league again.

If we wanna sell anything under 30m is a bad deal for us.

Can't find a worthwhile source to back it up, but the guys on that Everton forum have found an article tonight linking Fenerbache with a bid for him.

Don't see him going there.

That Everton forum is a lunatic asylum. Quite a few on there thought Mourinho was going to be their next manager a month back. Don't think he'll stay in this league, especially if Everton are the only option. End up being a cheap price but going abroad.

So as it turns out over the past couple of seasons Mata has been more or less about as productive as Rooney, who most "supporters" on here want shipped off to Antarctica ASAP? Rooney is trash but Mata is one of our best players? How does that work  Before someone says Mata offers more off the ball... He really doesn't, and for anyone who claims Mata's been played out of position, he actually played on the right for Valencia with Silva playing through the middle, so for 2/3rds of his career he's operated coming in off the right hand side. Lets not forget everytime he's been afforded a central spot here he's been very underwhelming.

Back on point, if Mourinho does decide to sell him.. again, to an English club like Everton we should easily be asking for 25-30mill, if Benteke is going to Palace for 25mill and Ibe 15mill etc etc.

Rooney is on £250k/week, Mata on £140k/week. So I think there must be some resentment there. Nor did Mata blackmail us with "give me a pay rise through the roof yer scurvy mancs or I'm off"

I'm happy to sell him and I don't care what we get. The game at West Brom turned me against him completely. Two stupid fouls within moments of each other leaving us with ten men, for a player with his experience, is unacceptable. It was a critical game and he drained us of all momentum. The fouls were voluntary. It's almost like he didn't want to be out there. I just would find it hard to trust him after that. He could leave us short at any moment, especially when we need a result most urgently.
Anyone that leaves us short in a big game like that has to do an awful lot in other games to be regarded as one of our best performers. Players must be judged on their bad days as much as their best, and Mata goes awol too often.
