Archery and Boxing are both in the Olympics. Robbie Keane is the man we should be punishing retrospectively.

Rolly polly into the ol' machine gun. He's even appealing to kids with the rolly polly part.
I couldn’t tell what type of gun it was because it was invisible

Don't hate the player, hate the game
Is the biathlon still a thing? I'll happily join in with bashing the celebration if he replaces it with an attempt at miming shooting while skiing down a mountain.

Not wanting tens of millions of kids seeing a potential idol acting like he's gunning down people is petty? I mean I guess.
I'm kind of shocked it's allowed. Pretty sure it's banned in the NFL, for example.

Tbh it makes me worry a fair bit about his mentality.

I’m not sure you’ve ever met any actual kids but let me assure you the vast majority of them spend their evenings and weekends gunning down other people on Fortnite or Call of Duty. So I don’t see how watching a professional footballer pretend to do the same is going to have any kind of negative influence on them?

People complaining about his celebration  I fecking love it. Its brilliant.

I also love Full Metal Jacket, Apolcolpyse Now and Call of Duty. And Grand Theft Auto too.

Wait till he switches to his Marcel Marceau invisible wall celebration. This place will lose it's shit entirely.

On a good day you just love to watch him. Such a silky player. We didn't have such a beautiful playing striker since Berbatov. I hope he can build on this performance and become an important player for us. It's just a joy to watch him doing his thing.

Just needs to get fully used to the pace of the league and he'll be a solid player for us. He has more about him than Hojlund in my opinion.

If that’s true that’s crazy. So he was sent off for doing a ‘gun’ celebration, and decided the most appropriate response was to adopt a different projectile based celebration, to avoid getting into trouble again?

Edit: couldn’t he have just said it was a crossbow, to avoid the punishment? But then again, would a crossbow even be allowed, as it has a trigger? Where does it all end?!
I think triggerless weapons are ok. Blowguns, spears, katanas, orbital cannons and but not limited to nuclear launches.

Pretty sure Cavani's celebration was originally a gun thing and he was pressured into changing it. I think he was sent off in France for it once.

He wasn't sent off for it, he got a yellow card for it but then argued with tbe officials about it and was given a 2nd yellow as a result.

Good game but he may get some push back from the club or the FA for the NRA celebrations. His touches, flicks and passes are effective and rarely lose possession. The forwards have improved their finishing since Ruud and Amorim came in.

To settle this debate, all pre planned goal celebration look stupid

Run around aimlessly like mad man and hug each other… maybe a friendly slap in the face and get back to business
(Only exception that team from island I think)

It's the new Kendrick Lamar, one of my favourites on the album!
To be fair I don’t like rap, but that sounded particularly silly to me

Back to the debate on his celebration, what games to kids play these days? And how does it not involve shooting? Fortnite is still the biggest isn’t it?

Friendly slap in the face... mmmmmm

When Batistuta did the celebration it looked cool as feck to me as a kid, but he scored loads and was an absolute menace as a striker, so it was fitting all around. Celebration in that sense looked more weird than not appropriate.

Don't care much either way.

Here's a thought, How come this celebration is seen as controversial yet Hojlund's against bodo/glimt is not even considered? I know he was paying hommage to a movie but still, he literally gestured the cutting of someone's throat.

Read the thread properly dude, cutting throat does not involve pulling triggers.

You do realise that the celebration is over 30 years old and is actually a homage to the original creator in Gabriel Batistuta?

It’s absolutely nothing new and definitely open to interpretation because many definitely don’t see it as you have.

I didn't actually know that, and it changes my view, so thanks. Any references to Batigoal are of course welcome.

Sone good ol slap arse.

The world has changed quite a bit in the intervening time, so references can be misconstrued; there used to be someone who did a bazooka celebration, I think it was(?) and things like that would have more scrutiny on them now even if innocent references to video games, movies or TV.
