Wonder if the scouts and ETH saw this clip and thought, "perfect, exactly what we need, an even bigger clown infront of goal".

Maybe they also took into account how he scored in his first two ever Bundesliga appearances, each time within seconds and with his very first touch of the game. Maybe for balance sake we could have a video of that?

It can happen. He’s a young player in a new team, in a new league. So if that team is misfiring he’s going to struggle more than most. In that first half vs Palace the whole team played well which gave him a platform to do his thing. Since then we’ve generally been pretty shite, which has made it all much more difficult for him. And I’m sure his confidence has taken a hit too, after being sky high following his debut goal.

Anyhoo, I find this thread a bit grim. Everyone tripping over each other to completely write off a young player who’s barely got his feet in the door. He might never make it here but it’s far too early to be certain about that. I’m happy to give him at least the rest of this season before making a definite opinion. Weird the way so few others are willing to do the same.

Realistically we don't need a season to assess a players ability to play for this club, and fans shouldn't be expected to, rather you find it grim or not. Take Fellaini for example, many fans thought he wasn't a good fit for United from the start, and there are similar sentiments here I feel that'll only fester. That's a player who played his part in his own way, be it aerial/physical ability but he just wasn't a United player, despite the effort. I'm feeling a similar sentiment with Zirkzee minus the actual effort. He's simply not the type of CF profile that the club actually needed, and fans are obviously getting restless regarding our lack of goals. Not sure what plans Amorim will have for him, but I hope he can somehow find a use for him or it's only going to get worse for the lad.

Having a no fecks given attitude is fine if you are playing well and performing.

As a new signing he is giving off a terrible attitude and it should be a big worry.

Hard to see where he'll fit even if fit and playing well. Any kind of pressing game we implement, he doesn't have the mobility. He's in a difficult position because its obvious he wasn't an ETH signing. Zirkzee said in his first interview at us "“I am what I call a false striker. Not a No 9, not a No 10. I am a 9.5! That's my game.". ETH never played him there. It could be argued he had to play there due to Hojlund injury, but he still played there even when he came back. ETH was never going to drop Bruno, and the one time Bruno was suspended, he played our full back in that role. Maybe the new manager can utilize him better, we hope, but any kind of high energy, press from the front game won't suit him. Feels bad to seemingly write someone off so early, but I just can't see it with him, hope to be proven wrong.

Unlucky not to get the ball back from that last attack... though not sure what would have happened if he had got it

One brilliant pass tonight…the Bruno fanboys will love him.

Let’s hope he can progress under Amorim

So you think Zirkzee is our new Beckham? Beckham busted a gut running every time he was on the pitch. Zirkzee hardly breaks a sweat.
Give it time, we are only ~10 games into the season. He has shown glimpses and there is time for him to come good. Of course he will never be Becks, but he could turn out a important player under Amorim,

That one pass for the Rashford chance was better than what Hojlund did all game.
Obviously we can't praise one player without knocking another.

Great pass. We had acres of space due to the time and score.

He started running with the briefly then realised he can't run.

The guy is not fit for professional football, just look how big his jersey is on him.

I think that's why he's so clumsy and always on the stretch receiving passes

I feel like the biggest issue for him right now is that he’s just not up to the tempo yet. The issue for me with Zirkzee as of now isn’t that he’s too slow or that he isn’t a striker, the issue is that he’s playing too slowly.

Speed isn’t everything for a striker. Kane was never fast and that action yesterday where he turned and switched the ball out to Rashford was straight out of the Harry Kane playbook.
Kane wouldn’t have outsprinted the Chelsea defence last week either and no one would have expected him to as that was never his strenght.

I think Zirkzee regularly manages to find good space in midfield and is often so close to finding opportunities to put his teammates in but he’s just taking too long on the ball therefore misses out.

If he can adjust to the higher tempo and play with a little more aggression and physicality he could prove a good player for us yet, he’s still only 23 let’s not forget.

He just needs to adapt to his environment.

The club is difficult for anyone to adapt, and he comes with a structure that breaks 2 month after.

Let him train, adapt to the pace of the game, and then maybe we'll be able to judge.

Man Utd 3:0 Leicester New
Seemed a bit more involved today. Some decent flicks and headers, and a good pass. Shame he's so languid and slow in the press.

That was actually impressive in his short spell today I thought. Still a lot to go in terms of aggression maybe, but some nice touches and passes. I can see how he could grow into that role, will be interesting to see how Amorim views it.

Would like to see him with more game time now

That was a positive showing. I have a feeling Amorim will find a suitable role for him in his setup

Hojlund and Rashford are fast, nothing good ever happens when they press, so it's not like we're losing anything.

I think he's indefinitely better player than Rasmus, but comes with a limitation of being slow. A proper coach might work something out. If we end up with another "best transition team in the world team" thing, we might as well keep kicking it long to Hojlund.

Probably deserves a start or at the very least more minutes. Good recent cameos. Very progressive player in between the boxes.
