Joseph Anthony Barton

If this was Football Manager, I'd sign Barton for free & have him tutor Ravel Morrison

But, back to reality. He's a decent enough player IMO, but not United class. We may need a midfielder, but we need a top class midfielder to come in & improve the squad, not a good player who's probably less talented than what we've already got!

Ravel Morrison could probably teach Barton a thing or two on the street!

He is a good hard working player, similar to Fletcher, and I think we need another player with these sorts of attributes. For free?? Take him on a 1 year contract!

the free bit probably comes from his tweet earlier
@TheFurlz sold???? Not a chance matey. Am here till it expires or am given a free transfer....

Hope someone told Fergie
Barton-Anderson would be

....

Don't care how good he is, Joey Barton should never be allowed to play for Manchester United..

What on earth is Ashley playing at?!

I believe they have a strategy that involves bringing in younger players, paying them sensible wages, and perhaps selling them at the point when they expect big money. The problem with moving to this strategy is that many of the current squad arrived under previous managers and were given contracts that are way beyond the figures that Newcastle can realistically afford.

The likes of Barton and Nolan are out because their salaries belong to a different era. If the top player at the club earns say 80k, then anyone who has a decent season is going to be looking for a similar amount. If you kick out everyone earning above 50k then you save plenty of money in the medium term, so long as you don't get relegated. I'm guessing that Newcastle would have liked a transfer fee for Barton but no-one has bid for him so they are prepared to let him go for nothing.

he wont join us, most probably he ll end up at spurs, arsenal, villa or perhaps as the final jigsaw of liverpool's 10 men midfield

Maybe he has some loyalty related bonuses that are due to be triggered this season and Newcastle was rid of him now rather than next year to get out of paying them.

So should Man United have kicked Cantona out then when he kicked a fan in the head?

No chance. Footballing ability speaks above personality in my opinion.

Such a simplistic view and comparison.

I don't remember Cantona hospitalising his own players.

I don't remember Cantona putting a cigarette out on a colleagues face.

I don't remember Cantona being in and out of court for various assaults.

But I DO remember Cantona being a significantly better player than Joey Barton!

No need to get all tabloid about it, Cantona never kicked a fan in the head.

It's also pointless trying to equate Barton with Cantona. Cantona's top level in football was lightyears beyond Bartons, and Bartons top level of cuntishness is lightyears beyond Cantonas.

Cantona had one such off-field incident as far as I'm aware; Barton had too many to mention.

Also, in terms of footballing ability Cantona shits all over Barton. So he's hardly the best example.

Are you trying to say Barton is as good as Cantona?

Also, dont recall Cantona ever stubbing out cigars on youth team players.

I’m sure SAF will look at the situation, and if he feels It’s worth it, he’ll make him an offer . I’ll leave that to him, he knows a little bit more than I do

If we are going to be moral about Barton and his off field twatishness, then we need to be the same about Morrison tbh. (but he getting the support and help from United……..would Barton have as much baggage if he’d had the same support?)

Yes, he’s been a stupid twat, but he IS a good footballer, and really would improve the squad . and do a job for us

A lot of the reactionary no No NO ‘s I’m sure are down to the worry that if we signed HIM, any other transfers would be thrown out the window.

As for value, whoever gets him for free, it could be the best transfer value of the season

Because he was their best player last season and they have lost both he, Nolan and Carroll, and they've given aaway for nothing a player they might have made a couple of million on, not to mention the fact they're probably paying up his deal.

If this is true I dont think there's any chance on Ashley paying up his deal - why would he?

Have to say its a suprise if tey've let him go because he was excellent last year - but they seem determined to get the big wage earners away.

Everton, Villa, QPR, WBA, Wolves, feck, anyone Midtable and below could do with him.

Utter utter spacko's at Newcastle. In one season they'll have lost Carrol, Enrique, Nolan and Barton.

Good passer of the ball, and can get stuck into a tackle as well. He also seems to have left his days of stupidity behind him. One incident with Morten Gamst Pederson aside, I can't really think of any real misdemeanours in the past couple of seasons. I think a strong manager is all he needs to push on and make a name for himself.

Whilst I think Sir Alex fits that mould, I don't think Joey Barton is the player for Man United. I don't think he's better than Anderson, Carrick, Fletcher etc.

I could see him joining somebody like Bolton, actually.

Do you mean he will go to QPR? , that is a good shout and if he behaves he could do OK there

No chance of them paying the sort of money he'd want.

He's got more chance of ending up at West Ham with Big Sam.
