Joseph Anthony Barton

Madness! But if that's how they're going to be with him, well he actually deserves to be at a 'better' club!

He has caused a bit of a ruckus lately though - making noise about the club's failure to spend and the way Enrique's been treated.

What's wrong with Newcastle? Seriously what the actual feck?

Why is everyone so shocked?

He, along with Nolan, were two of there best players last season were they not?...And they've let them both go, it just doesn't make much sense from the outside looking in. Maybe there's more to it.

He can do a great job at a club like Everton.

Why is everyone so shocked?

Because he was their best player last season and they have lost both he, Nolan and Carroll, and they've given aaway for nothing a player they might have made a couple of million on, not to mention the fact they're probably paying up his deal.

I do think he's a good player, and I think NUFC are mad to let him go on a free.

Normally for a good player like that, to get them on a free would be a good piece of business for us, but still it's Joey Barton.

But it's Newcastle we're talking about. Nothing shocking about them doing it.

Yeah but Newcastle are spastics.

Tiote was their best midfielder last season I thought, maybe they want the onus around him in their midfield?

God only feckin' knows with the barcodes though...

Barton on a free?

Why not...

Seeing the man's full name in the title made me picture a business card for him:

Joseph Anthony Barton
Douchebag

Again, Newcastle are spastics.

I'm not sure that's the killer point you think it is. Whether or not they do daft things giving away a relatively valuable asset for nothing, not to mention without anyone to replace them, is always going to be surprising.

I blame Darren Clarke. Mike Ashley had to fork out 2mill in sponsorship to him after he won the Open, Barton wages had to be cut........

Morons. Was easily one of the reasons they stayed up and he could of been sold for a couple million quid. No matter if he is a dick, he's a good football playing dick.

I wouldn't have him here as he does the Fletcher role, but he's a poor man's Keano elsewhere. If I'm Villa, I'm interested.

He's an Everton fan, isn't he?
I reckon he could go there. Not sure what use he'll be at our club though, even if we ignore him being a cnut, his best spell of performances has come whilst playing as a right midfielder.

Well it is for me anyway, I'm in no way surprised they did this. It's not the first time they've made a ridiculous decision and it won't be the last.

It's been no secret that Joey was not getting another contract at Newcastle and yet there was no interest at all in him.

Hardly surprising then the club have decided to get rid. Barton has done himself no favours with his stupid tweeting and should have learnt that, after Jose getting his £100,000 fine, he should have STFU.

Sorry to see Barton go but with the incoming players I guess Pardew was not looking at using him anyway.

People were saying the same thing regarding Charlie Adam that how we're gonna sign him. It's not gonna happen.

He'd improve our starting midfield.

Anyone else thinking what I'm dreading... "Value" :(

To be fair if he can make an impact similar to Michael Owen then getting him for free isn't the worst piece of business in the world.

That said, after fergies statements about 'the quality of player we need' and being content not to sign anyone unless a high calibre player becomes available, swooping in for Barton would certainly be a bit odd
