Jose Mourinho | Spurs manager

At every club he's been at since 2002, Mourinho has won trophies. Will he win one at Spurs?

Straight to the personal insults!

Have a good day, chum.

Personal insults? Well I edited my post, hope that makes you happy.

p.s hopefully you wrote this post on your own and didn't nick it from elsewhere.

Any of the media crying about Levy approaching Mourinho behind Poch's back yet? Because i doubt this was sorted in 5 hours.

Woodward must be loving this. Levy will become the new most hated man in football. Hated by half the squad already, hated by Jose soon, and #LevyOut is already trending. If Ed was incompetent for hiring Jose due to poor fit, then Levy is even more so.

Just as us hiring Poch would be incompetent, a failed manager who lost record numbers of games, lost the dressing room and fans, and lost every trophy he has ever competed for.

Interesting. Will be fun to see how the next transfer window pans out, especially with all the leaks to Duncan.

Oh believe me I know what you mean, I do think Jose and Levy have been in contact for some time. I don't think Levy is stupid enough to make promises he wont keep to Jose of all people and I don't think Jose is stupid enough to think he is going to get a "war chest" from Levy. Excited yes, nervous, definitely.

We've been there. Many of us had those thoughts. We know how this plays out.

This is a different situation he is entering though.

Don't get me wrong, he'll have burned his bridges within 3 years. But he might win something win them before that.

Imagine purposely swapping poch for this washed up version of Jose. Bonkers

He will be gunning for first trophy right away, thats his selling point, nothing wrong with that mind you. Always said trophy>top 4 brainwashed bullshit. If he manages to win what ever cup this season, his PR will spin it as "there you go, Poch won feck all but here comes Jonny and boom insta cup win"

They mentioned it on Talksport this morning, Alan Brazil, Harry Redknapp and Big Sam said they would have been talking to Jose as we did when LvG was in charge.

He did get the cheque book out in the summer that's the thing.
As has been mentioned I think a lot of it was about the players he didn't get rid off than the ones he brought in. Levy really should have got rid of Eriksen. It is as though he has been a great contributor for you this season. Problem there is that Eriksen want Real and just Real.

I am still surprised you guys didn't buy a CB.
Yeah, with a bit of the season gone and with the picture becoming a little clearer, I think we'd have been better off committing to Gundogan and Fernandinho being our #6s for the foreseeable future and spending that £60m on a centre-back instead. Our defensive personnel isn't the issue really so Maguire wouldn't have solved anything - in fact I think he'd be down as "worst signing of the season". When it comes to defending, personnel has never been an issue for Pep teams. We once hammered Spurs 4-1 with Walker, Otamendi, Mangala, and Delph as the back four. But right now our defence is being made to look worse because it's being badly exposed by Rodri's teething problems. In five years time this little period of difficulty with him might all have been worth it but our biggest problem right now is the midfield. If we play Gundogan, Silva and Rodri together it's too one-paced, and De Bruyne and Bernardo have been very quiet by their usual standard for a few weeks now. If you had the chance to look back at every chance we've conceded since Laporte got injured, you'd see that the majority of them come from counter attacks because the opposition only need two accurate passes to get right at our back four. Our best performance in recent weeks came away at Palace when Rodri was in the back four and Gundogan sat behind the midfield - going back to that will help us in the short term at least.

Can't see it being anything major but time will tell.

I mean... this happens with EVERY manager or player.

Tottenham would never have sacked Poch without having somebody lined up straight away.

All this BS about "LOCKED IN TALKS" was just a show.

I have stated this time and time again, how can Levy get rid of any players that didn't want to leave, Eriksen's aim is to go on a free, Toby's too.

I realise what they are all doing. They will lose a load of players with no money coming in and then Jose will want loads to spend. It is a mess and this is Levy's doing. Of course Jose might just promote youth.

There was a sense at United that it was his last 'big' chance. While Spurs isn't as high profile it is certainly a huge opportunity which he arguably doesn't wholly deserve based on his record since 2016 onwards. This will establish whether he's a fading force or just been at the wrong clubs in recent years.

Got to be a short term insurance policy for Levy.

Spurs current league position will be giving Levy nightmares, just moved into a brand new £100's of millions state of the art stadium and then to be relegated to Championship... No, No .. No! Levy cries, send for the Special one whilst there's still time, who knows we might stay up and win some silverware … for a change!

A couple of seasons then Jose will pull his usual stunt rant and rave, get sacked, get a few bob and go back to punditry!

Mourinho's stock has seriously fallen. Until now he wouldn't have managed a team who have little chance of winning the CL and PL.

The media do this all the time and it makes no sense because every club does it for every appointment, or else you end up like Everton did a couple of years ago when they were without a manager for a month and ended up with Big Sam. It'd be funny if the media do kick up a big fuss about Spurs "going behind Pochettino's back" because that's exactly what they accused Pochettino of doing when he took over from Nigel Adkins at Southampton all those years ago.

Of course it wasnt. Apparently Mourinho rejected the Lyon Job a while ago and told their president he already had a Job lined up and was just waiting.

you had a nett spend of 61 million pal and not forgetting you spent nothing in the past 2 windows prior to that and do spurs fans forget his famous 2015 quote on when spurs tried to get him in 07 "I could never manage spurs out of respect for chelsea" 'I would not take the job because I love Chelsea supporters too much.' Shoddy behaviour by Spurs they obviously had this planned for a while behind the managers back - you don't get a deal done and dusted in 10 hours or so.

I doubt Jose would have signed for us and I doubt Levy would have signed him with out a discussion about expectations. How will we lose money? We have certainly got out moneys worth out of Verts, Toby and Rose who all would in reality gotten us very little return. Eriksen cost feck all and got our moneys worth, yes we will lose a reasonable transfer fee but its hardly a mess.

In answer to the poll, I think he'll win them a League Cup or FA cup, but it'll all end in tears.

Troy Parrott liked a tweet saying he is fecked now with Mourinho and should join United.

We were also trying to get Bruno? What has that quote got to do with me... pal?

Can't wait to see what he has to say about Spurs' football heritage.

Wow. The speed at which this happened is stunning. Clearly there were talks behind Poch's back before he was sacked.
There needed to be. By firing not just Poch but all his staff as well, they needed someone lined up to step in straight away.

Given that, I can't help but feel that Mourinho might have been one of the only options. Their first choice, Nagelsmann, couldn't be obtained mid-season, so they have to go with someone available now, and how many of those are there? Only really Allegri right now, and I imagine he's holding out for something bigger.

The quote I left out a question mark so, as I was looking for you're opinion on a guy who stated he'd never manage you're team out of love for chelsea and now here we are  what did he only take the job at you're club because no one else wanted him, not BM. not RM in other words the real reason he's changed his mind and is now spurs manager :D

I'm sick and tired of calling names in this place. It's a bit immature.
I'd love to hear how I was name calling? I used a legitimate statement to describe how some people would rather ignore facts to continue on with their agenda; ie. Bashing the club and ignoring Mourinhos short comings here.

Christ, mate, this is such a minor point to pick at. You're just coming across as insecure. You followed me around in the summer when I said Maguire was a massive risk to spend £80m on when you had bigger problems in other areas and I think I've turned out to be right about that. Let me have this one, eh?

Tbh I think @roonster09 is being harsh with you but regarding Maguire that's untrue. He's part of a much improved defence at United and is money well spent for the present and long term. Given your current situation I'm certain you'd cut off your left testicle to have him in your back 4 right about now!

Good to have Jose back in the PL if anything, he's likeable. Just hope we beat them in December.
