Jose Mourinho | Sacked by Roma

If he wins it, then it's a trophy, one more than United this season.
It's only laughed at by fans who probably haven't played competitive football at any high standard, and don't realise that trophies are what players strive for, no matter what format
It's a trophy like the charity shield. Coppa Italia has more value than this travesty of a competition. Yeah sure it has to be that yeah. We're talking about fricking Roma here not some bottom feeder club.

Why is the conference League final after the Europa League final?!

Maybe To you, who has zero chance of winning it ever, but I doubt to the Roma players who do have a chance of winning.

And when did Roma win their last trophy? 2008. 14 years is a long time in football, winning this trophy would be pretty welcome for the club and their fans.

Not financially. The charity shield is really worthless. Roma stands to make €22-25 million from the ECL this season. That's more than 12% of Roma's yearly budget. It is almost like winning the CL for Chelsea/Bayern, except they are used to winning titles.

Then for the fans, I'd think winning the Coppa has more value since you normally have to beat some of the biggest teams in Italy to get there.

Always find it strange when people look down on trophies like Europa league, Conference league, CWC etc.

They're hardly a superclub are they?

3 times champions of Italy and the Inter Cities Fairs cup as their only European trophy in the history of the club. Even Newcastle managed to win that and more recently too.

Conference League still has some value, its a season long tournament after all.

You can only win what’s in front of you. There are lesser trophies for sure.

I am warming to the idea of the conference league now i have to admit; even if United had dropped to 7th and we'd missed out on the Europa League it would have been a chance for young players to get competitive games and the opportunity of a trophy (even a minor one like this) is good for morale. I'm pretty sure Roma see it as a trophy and a platform to build on.

I do, trophy snobbery I call it, ya it's better to win bigger ones but if your in it, you want to win it

True. A trophy is a trophy. Comparison with one off game like Charity Shield makes no sense.

Laughing at it while we get knocked out of cups by mk dons and middlesbrough, and bottle european tournaments we should be winning comfortably, is a bit out of touch. Mourinho, like other top managers, doesnt end up in finals by accident and its no coincidence that we had 3 finals under him, winning 2 and losing 1. He got spurs to a final. Now Roma. For all the talk of being a busted flush, he continues to end up in finals.

Trophy is a trophy and winning it shows you were the best in this competition. If you have a winners mentality, you don't choose the trophies, you go for the ones which are possible. Winning a title is a special event, whether it's a Supercoppa or Conference league. It's still a title and worth celebrating.

Interviewer rubbing his ego which of course he responds well to. ‘Proven right’ my ass, self-serving prick.
Hope he loses the final. But if he doesn’t you just know he’s going to claim it as one of the greatest achievements of his career. Nah, it’s shit Jose, and so are you these days.

Its funny how much Jose rubs so many fans and mediamen the wrong way. It is as if people expect some kind of humility from him when he opens his mouth and get pissed off he is a self-praising arrogant prick.

Some people keep themselves motivated in life by saying/claiming they are good (Jose, Cristiano, Zlatan etc). Some can motivate themselves silently without needing to self-praise.

"Roma spent over 100m" makes it sound like we invested over 100m on new arrivals.
This summer we spent 11.5m for Rui Patricio, 10 for Vina, 17.5 for Shomurodov. Tammy's payments are spread out over 5 years: 5m right now, 20 to be paid by summer 2024, 15 by summer 2025. Chelsea will probably buy him back in 2 years.
Ibanez, Kumbulla and Reynolds were bought before Mourinho arrived.

Well you can put it how you want but the reality is that, in the 2021/22 season:

Roma have overtaken even Manchester United in terms of net spending. Then also every other italian team sign on loan + option to buy or 2-year loan + obligation to buy as Juventus did for Federico Chiesa and Manuel Locatelli.

But Mou's spending is insane. That's a fact.

Prior to last summer, Roma hadn't breached a £20m net spend since 17/18.

Seems fair for them to splurge a little and back their new manager last year no?

His autobiography when he finishes will be a fun read, no matter how self-aggrandizing and dubious some of the content is.

What load of nonsense some comments saying this trophy is like Coppa or Supercoppa. First of all the finalists will take at least 11M€ in prize money, plus the final prize money and add their tv rights revenues and I'm pretty sure it's much more profitable than Coppa.

If the winners fail to qualify Europa League by domestic competitions, they get a spot on Europa League group stage next season.

And end up with the same points
That's irrelevant...they didn't finish with the same points before the season and the investment.

You can't go 3 or 4 seasons spending next to nothing, changing coaches, then randomly drop an extra 100m and expect the world to change.

Why’s mourinho still talking crap about us.. you’ve got to move on mate. Focus on Roma.. not our fault you didn’t make it with your crap tactics.

Because he’s being asked? Not like he’s putting out a press release.

I came in here to say this. Tammy is fantastic business. He is adding to his game all the time, and the fact he is scoring goals, is pretty young, and is English, means they will get at least double for him in a year or two.

They clearly thought he was gonna bring some success to the club that's why the gave him such a large budget and then he goes and does basically the same as the last few managers.
Winning the mickey mouse of european cups is nothing to brag about.

What success could he bring this season, though? They were in the conference league from the start; it wasn't like they were relegated into it from the Europa League. They have also reached the final and could win it.

Serie A? They had no chance of winning that.

Coppa Italia? That will be very hard for them to win with Juventus, Milan, Inter and Napoli being much better sides.

The only realistic cup there is the conference league.

The Coppa has better teams in it than the Conference League for a start. The Conference League is a Micky mouse tournament for crap teams.
