Why is Jose still living in a hotel if he's staying at United long term? By himself, as the rest of his family won't even join him. He's living like a management consultant, surely this is not long term.

He won’t stay longer than three seasons in my opinion.

The pressure is really going to be on If we drop points today due to a negative approach to the game.

Another negative garbage performance by him. Can't even get the team scoring more than 4 goals.

This thread has gone dead since we won. Imagine if we had lost.
I am surprised I have not seen the famous thing of "this is another easy game and Newcastle were crap". Isn't every team we beat termed crap?

Its simple, Man City or Tottenham batter a team not in the top 6 - they are the second coming of Brazil 1970s

Man Utd batter a team not in the top 6 - goals masking poor performance, not enough attacking, negative tactics etc.

Not sure how its dead, every single issue he created or is creating is still out there and those issues have nothing to do with draw vs Liverpool or win vs Newcastle.

Back in reality though, what is there worth commenting on regarding Mourinho?

He picked Pogba. Bout it really. The two goals before half time are pretty much the reason things improved in the second.

Funny enough there’s nothing cynical about this thread being more active when things aren’t going great.

Yep, not like he played with the formation Caf have been asked for all the time.

Anyway your last sentence proves everything I wanted to know really. I get it this thread is for slaughtering him only.

Well as usual the top reds on here are fairly hyperbolic.

My point is perfectly reasonable, which you haven’t even addressed. If you want to praise Mourinho for yesterday - fill your boots. Don’t come in here just to make yourself feel like a true supporter like “where’s all the haters at?”. That’s childish shite.

Is that your replay on this thread going dead when we won, compared to number of pages it's filled with on any negative result ? Trying to convert the blame for someone else ? If so thanks for giving me a nice laugh.

I would say yesterday was his best day at OT in his entire reign and he actually changed a lot of how he normally plays and that wasn’t just down to Pogba. Maybe it gave Jose more confidence so he felt that the team could play. Gone were the negative tactics and he went for it.

Smalling and Lindelof were pushed right up, at times sitting in Newcastle’s half. Young and Valencia were actually attacking the 18 yarder and again were pushed right up. Martial and Mata/Rashford were given more license to stay forward. None of that retreating rubbish to invite people on to us. Lukaku wasn’t isolated like usual either and we just looked a lot more like a team. We were able to sustain attacks because we had pushed up, which ok Newcastle’s tactics allowed us to do, but that is what we should be doing to teams.

Yeah you can say it’s only Newcastle but it wasn’t so much the goals that made it a good performance it was all the little adjustments people have been moaning about for months that he finally addressed, which weirdly coincided with one of his best performances at OT.

I’d give Jose an A- for yesterday but only because of the weird choices in the last 20

Very good point about how high up Smalling and Lindelöf were positioned. It's incredibly difficult to be able to play pro active football with a deep line so it was good to see that move from Mourinho yesterday. It really gave us more authority over the game. I am not sure if Pogba alone gives him THAT much confidence or if going behind so early on was the reason for it. Hopefully it continues anyway. Lindelöf should be trusted more, he looks like he can really be useful starting our play from the back. Of course he will make the odd mistake but you won't ever be able to play well if you don't mess up sometimes. He should be trusted the same way De Gea or Stones was.

Yeah it’s a simple adjustment and it transformed the team. That and the fullbacks commiting. It had a knock on effect on all aspects of our play.
Normally the 2 CB’s are 10-15 yards away from where they were positioned then the midfield is further back then there is a huge gap to Lukaku.
Yesterday for me was finally a step in the right direction and hopefully these little adjustments continue. He’ll probably slip back to his ways but play like that and there won’t be as much critiscim for him.
His 4231 at the start tho was a bit of a mistake then the Lukaku out wide thing.

Mourinho, for me, has moved into dinosaur mode with his style and approach. We’ve seen it all before and it’s uninspired.

'Top reds' is basically a projection.

The reality is that most people critical or Mourinho are the 'top reds' because they have idealistic views about the manchester united way, big club mentality etc. They consider club values as very important (I see them as a marketing ploy).

Im just happy to see the team do well, I don't have an endless list of demands until i'm satisfied. I'm a supporter rather than a fan, im not that invested in football to care like some do on here. I'm definitely not a top red.

His family don't want to up and leave as they're comfortable where they live right now. I think Jose is between a rock and a hard place, there's no real incentive to live in Manchester especially given the current managerial climate. Managers drop like flies these days. It would be silly to move right in unless he can be certain he will have at least a decade here and I very much doubt United would give him that certainty.

They gained momentum and the substitutes just added to it. Pathetic.

Took off our best player to stick two big lads up front and play hoofball. Hope he moves on this summer, this style of football is horribly outdated.

Wrong subs. Martial should never have been taken off. Especially if it meant mr sideways moving on the right wing.

Going for the draw, setting for a L. Tired of this cowardly shit.

Typical reaction... have you watched the game? How many piss easy chances have we missed? Lukaku, Fellaini and Ibra all guilty.
It's more the fact that we have no creativity and our manager seems to have taken his tactical blueprint from Wimbledon cerca 1985 mate.
