While i can see your reasoning but our team has had a literal strip down since Fergie retired, both Chelsea and City haven't had to replace players as important as Evra, Rio, Vidic, Rooney, Rvp, Scholes, Giggs, Carrick etc. And it didn't help with the mismanagement done by Moyes and LVG regarding their transfers.

Conte pretty much inherited Jose's title winning team, the context is very different.

Yeah because Cole, Terry, Lampard and Drogba are still out there performing for Chelsea.

Not happening for him. Seems clueless, he’s had more than enough time and we still look inept when it actually matters in big moments. His players, his responsibility.

Meltdown is starting already

Got to be honest, i think he's a busted flush.

The football is dreadful.

His team's have always been solid defensively but could still mix it up going forward.

This, this is rubbish.

:lol::lol::lol:

Some of you are fecking retarded, you lose to Chelsea and suddenly Mourinho should get sacked and every player is shit

Firstly that word is offensive for many reasons and consequently I should report that post. Secondly, I clearly said I wouldn’t ask him to be sacked, but I’d be happy to see him go. You don’t know my posting history, so don’t comment like you do. I’ve been saying the same thing for a while. It’s called an opinion, and yours isn’t better than anyone else’s, so stop acting so self righteously.

He can't buy and sell 12 players in a single window. We're improving. We'll finish higher in the league than we did last season & we'll see some players leave again at the end of the season who aren't good enough. I think the signings of Mkhi & Lindelof do look poor though & they would be Mourinho's fault.

He is definitely improving us, but a rate which would need an investment of about 12 billion for us to be title favourites. The thing is, with the huge amount we have spent, for how long can a couple of injuries be a valid excuse for us playing shit?

He would get less criticism if we actually played some good football on a consistent basis, but we're not. His tactics against top teams are very poor.

Good against poor teams, sure. When Jones is faced with intelligent opposition he is rash & all over the place. Every single time.

That is why he bought Lindelof...oh wait!

And he is criticizing the fans? Someone ban me temporary from this thread please. I can't stop myself, i'm so mad.

This is the worst part about our disgusting football, he has the audacity to criticise fans.

Must admit I am starting to have my doubts.
Yep, me too.

It's not the results that bother me - it's the complete lack of any attacking idea. Even West Brom would have blanched at the hoofball we played towards the end today.

Our tactic in the big games is to play for a 0-0 and, if that fails, we start launching it to the big lads. Given United's size and resources, it's pathetic tbh.

The football isn't good enough.

He's done well to win 2 good trophies last season, but if it isn't coming together by the end of the season I think the club (and Mourinho) would be better to part ways.

He's really clueless isn't he ? Rashford in corner kicks, starting Mkhitaryan. Doing the same shit that doesn't work over and over again. Modern football seems to have gone past him I'm afraid. He just isn't flexible nor brave enough.

Agree with all of that.

Anyway all we can do is hope he starts focusing a bit more on the quality of our attacking play and maybe gets us commiting more numbers forward, or something. Because our 'brand' of football right now looks ancient, worn out and negative.
He won't improve it nor focus on it otherwise he would having faced non stop criticisms for hosting inability to attack since last year.

I suspect he's just incapable. I've been hoping for him to evolve but at this point I've realised I'm just lying to myself.

Look at all you wallys panicking. He hasn't got a LB because of Shaw's failings which I'm sure will be sorted out in the summer. It's not Mou's fault that Rojo is injured or that Pogba is injured. It's not Mou's fault Phil Jones is a bag of shite. Sadly, despite what we've spent, our squad isn't good enough to compete with City's.

Bollocks.

We've scored two goals in our last four league games. What on earth has Jones got to do with that?

"He needs another transfer window…" is what I keep hearing, then it will be one more and one more...surely after 400 million he has spent hoofing the ball can't be our only attack plan?

It's not about Mkhitaryan, it's how Mourinho sets up. Mkhitayran would revel in Liverpool's Klopp team. He looks dog shite cause we have a boring manager. Its the same for Lukaku.

We can't attack at all now cause of the mindset at start of the game. Chelsea were a team for the taking, but Mourinho decided he did not want to lose.

Come on, there are things Mourinho can be blamed for certainly, Mkhitaryan being a mental midget who can’t control a ball under a press is not one of them.

Give him time & his methods will work. We are fast approaching becoming the underdog his style of management thrives on.

Personally, I think Mourinho buckled under press pressure. We had an open approach all game and paid for it.

It was almost suicidal to continue with a two man midfield when Chelsea started with three top quality players against us. However, all those disheartened by our performance at Anfield can feel delighted that although we lost we weren't ultra defensive. Right?

Mourinho's the one signed who signed him and who continues to play him regularly. Not sure why he should be exempt from criticism on this one.

I think he seems to now rely on his attacking players themselves producing the brilliance. It's not going to come from his sytem or style. He's not going to make Martial and Rashford look better because we overload the opposition and give them a lot of options. He's going to make the defence solid and if the attackers produce individual brilliance then great.

It's never happening for us at the bridge, with or without Mourinho. Today wasn't on him.

Despite our results and goals scored earlier in the season, we just don't look natural under his system, or LVG's.

Wait, that was us being attacking?

Coming off last season and with what players we've brought in (and who we're linked with), I couldn't predict anything higher than making the top four.

Given Mourinho's rep and the club's resources, the expectation should be a title challenge right until the final weeks but I don't see how that's happening at present.

I don't think the team is poor obviously but there was big problems last season, with Mourinho playing his part. Both the players and Mourinho need to up their game to strive for anything beyond scraping into the top four. I never bought into the idea that new shiny players would sort everything out - I genuinely see this as more of a manager/coaching issue at present. That squad from last season should have been delivering better football. I'm hoping Mourinho just needed a season to get himself settled.

On the other hand, Mourinho's football tends to work well enough for cup competitions so we'll probably make it out the CL group stage and have a decent chance of making it to the quarter or semi finals.

That's my post from the Expectations 2017/18 thread.

Genuinely don't think he's going to prove me wrong this season going by these opening months.

I think the anti-LVG ones (they'll show up shortly to tell us all to stop whinging) are really showing themselves up as hypocrites right now. This is barely a few clicks better to watch.

The easy thing to do is sack him but I'm not sure who you would replace him with.
