He's been negative in every single big match he's played in. Like a broken clock, he's gotten things right a couple times. But for a ridiculous miss by a Man City reject, we'd not even be in the Champions League. His tactics could barely get us past the EL semi-final.

The only thing I'll give him is that the players he has brought in are good, and I look forward to them playing for a new manager.

You got pelters because Mourinho was right to responded to De Boer and your point was idiotic in that context, particularly when no one told you that he wasn't a knob.

De Boer's comment were harmless. No need for Mourinho to respond, showed where his head was before the biggest game of the season. Absolute weapon.

Carlo Ancelotti won the PL by inheriting a team filled with Mourinho players, he won the CL doing the same with Madrid.

I think the club have actually handled this situation quite well, they gave him a deserved extension, but a short one because we haven't improved to an elite team yet.

Ancelotti, Jardim, Sarri, Aleggri are all good successors to him. If he doesnt win the league or CL next season then I would like to see a new manager in.
I have the same opinion on winning the PL or CL next season.

As for Ancelotti he was sacked at Bayern for not turning out to training at times and players complaining on the way they trained.
Hiring him right now wouldn't be a wise decision.

I’d seriously consider looking at someone like Allegri or Tuchel now.

I was pro Mourinho before he even got here. I assumed he’d get us playing like he did with Inter, Real Madrid or Chelsea at times.

But he seems to have gone over the top with his defensive attitude. I knew he wasn’t a gung ho manager. But he certainly wasn’t this defensive. He parks the bus nearly every big game. I remember his Inter team scoring 3 past the great Barca team at home. I imagine if he replayed that match currently they wouldn’t have 3 shots let alone 3 goals.

Wanted Mourinho post Ferguson and by and large he has got us to a position in the league which in any normal season we would be seriously challenging for title 21,however,I get the angst about his pragmatism and its just not part of Utds DNA,IF we are going to change the manager then I hope the board look at a manager who likes his teams to be expansive,Zidane or Pochettino!

He was super-defensive in his 2nd stint under Chelsea too.

Remember, that Simeone himself had more courage to attack during their CL meeting. Then he was defensive vs 10 man PSG at the Bridge and it cost them.

It's a broken record, but that last season at Madrid damaged him.

Only one game ago he had one of the best halves as United manager so sacking is definitely not an option for me. He needs to sort things though, as we more often than not, don't look like a team. Especially when we need to be on the front foot.

Jose's done a good job with the signings. Time to thank him for improving the squad, move on and find someone who will actually get them playing some football.

I do not say this lightly and wish him all the success while he is here.
I do not think he's the right manger for us long term.
He has a fundamental flaw that imo, makes him unsuitable. For us long term.
His first instinct (regardless of who he's up against) is how he can stop the opposition from playing. What that does, it causes him to sacrifice his own team's playing ability just to stop the other team.
Once he's up against a decent footballiing side' his first instinct is to restrict his own side, so the other team don't play through his. Where this becomes a problem is that he does this even against sides that are not as talented as his(like today).
It's why Sevilla can have double our shot number over two legs, its why Chelsea. Parked the bus at home, against ten man PSG. We see it time and time in the league. He concedes possession and territory against any half decent team.

He has stabilised us but long term, its not sustainable and Mourinho will never change.

This sums up how I feel, I'm willing to give him more time and all that top red BS but what does United have to gain from Mourinho staying for 1-2 more years? Seriously? We'll still be playing cagey stuff against whoever, winning some like Chelsea/Liverpool then looking absolutely useless like today, Celta last season, Newcastle etc. Win or lose we play some scruffy stuff, is this really the United his fans want? Can anyone say they trust him to spend more money on players seeing what Pogba and Sanchez are gradually becoming under him?

I don't see what it is we have to gain from Mourinho staying with us long term, we can buy some more players and improve marginally and that would be it. He should be doing so much better with our current attacking players . We won't be winning the PL or CL playing like this that I'm sure of and the man certainly can not change his pragmatic philosophy which does not align with ours, so why persevere?

I’m happy to give him another season, but the attitude/aesthetics need to improve dramatically. Otherwise I can see one of those infamous third season meltdowns on the horizon.

He turned super defensive after losing to Spurs in the second season after January. First 4 months of that season they were fantastic with Costa and Fabregas. They played for a 0-0 against PSG. PSG has Ibra sent off in the second leg yet still had more control of the game.

He hasn’t learnt from his mistakes. 0-0 is never good away from home. Even under SAF, we always used to aim to score a goal even if it was just 1-1.

But the worst was he treated Seville like they are a top tier team, when they a team that’s been destroyed by Eibar, Atletico and Valencia in the past month.

Let him get 2nd place and get him out. I’m his biggest supporter. Thought he’d be incredible here. Thought of him as the worlds best manager before taking over United. But it’s not for him. He’s a dinosaur. We need an attacking manager.

I remember that game. Spurs demolished them at the Lane and Jose completely changed the approach afterwards. They somewhat 'limped' to the title.

They were very good the 1st half of the season playing some nice attacking football, then it went south.

I agree. 0-0 away from home is a terrible result imo. It puts far too much emphasis on scoring 1st at home in the return leg.

I think the problem is nowadays, Jose's teams just don't know how to take the proper initiative in games. So he resorts to what works(or worked for him in the past).

But his defensive approach doesn't even garner results anymore like it did in the past. The game has passed him by imo. Most of our wins in big games are akin to that of a mid-table club and not a top club.

Not to antagonise United fans, but was Klopp right when he said "we played Seville, they played Ajax" two years ago when we lost the finals and you guys won.

Mou: "I've sat in this chair twice before, with Porto - Man Utd out, with Real Madrid - Man Utd out, so this is nothing new for this football club." #MUFC

you, the boring one, the coward one, stop insulting our club and leave us, I hate you since you was in Chelsea, and I hate you even more. Insulting our club to defend your stupid ego. To hell with.
You mentioning Porto and Real, but you forgot Inter Milan 2009?
you mention the times that you qualified with the help of the referee while you forget the time we kicked you and your stupid team when the game was fare.

Backfired by the decision to extend Mourinho contract before season ends. The board should review his job depends on the progress of those important competitions. We are out of CL and PL on mid-March and our manager rewarded a new contract one month ago. Absolutely ridiculous.

We'll never win the league with him. He should have replaced Ferguson initially - he can get rid of crap and get a team in the habit of winning. Whilst he insists on that defensive tumescent we won't get anywhere major.

He is just a shite manager whose football is soul wrenching. I actually don't look forward to our games and watching us play is like enduring torture.
No player who has really improved under him. All our big players have gone backwards.
He is clueless about attacking football.

will be the same shit next year
No we wont this will collapse spectacularly next season.. . I hope Ed sees this as what it is. . Mou has lost the fans has no way to win this back .. I hope we dont give him a penny more and get something fresh in, cant stand more of this dire stuff. .

This is what happens when Woodward signs dabbing, hashtag-friendly, piano-playing mercenaries rather than players Mourinho actually wants for his system like Perisic and Willian. If you hire Jose, you have to let him build a team with solidiers, not superstars.

Now the dilemma is, do you cut your losses on the flops, or get a manager in who can maximise them?

He's an awful manager and he needs to feck off right now. Don't see how any genuine United fan could argue otherwise. Soul destroying garbage.

You’re unwavering support is admirable mate.

I’m just sick to death of seeing lethargic anti football.

I’ve seen enough success from this wonderful club to last me a life time. I can take losing to a better team no problem. But this cowardly negative style that we have seen from Mourinho on so many occasions is completely unacceptable in my opinion.

I criticised him for the defeat. The Sir Bobby comment made no sense though.

What are you going on about?

Who has Ed signed? Certainly not Sanchez as why would Jose call him before the deal and then involve Mkhitaryan.

Lindelof? Lukaku? Pogba? Bailly?

Cannot believe people are blaming Woodward. Money isn’t the issue.

We've just beaten chelsea and liverpool with a 21 year old in central mid. 2 teams that have been light-years ahead of us for the past few seasons.

yes, how dare him signing super players for Mourinho, he should have signed diego Armando Persic and with Persic we could have won the league and UCL.

He's got one season left to do something, FA Cup or not. If he continue to play like he does without winning the league or CL the cups won't save him.

He's actually a bit lucky with how good City have been because you can't really justify beating them this season in the league.

Had been skeptical of his methods this season as i was sure it was only a matter of time before they let us down in an important game. After the Chelsea/Liverpool games I picked up some faith that he could pull a rabbit out the hat on any given day.

But today was like a caricature representation of his worst traits. The starting 11, the tactics, severely gimping our attack to nullify the opposition, overly relying on hoofball as our primary attacking source, we didn't even pay any thought to midfield control today. We used a more balanced approach to beat Chelsea/Liverpool. Should have stuck to that

Last year we won the Europa league with similar performances to today. Was he relying on doing the same in the CL?

Simple; hire a manager who can get the best out of our current team without needing an overhaul.

Yep throw Woody under the bus. Because despite making representations to the contrary Jose never wanted Sanchez and Pogba. Those sweet juicy orange comments and making Pogba captain were decisions made by his doppelganger
