The delusion among a lot of posters on here is amusing to say the least, kind of sad as well.

The fact is we aren’t being managed by the Mourinho of old, there is absolutely zero cohesion or direction in the team and the players are just winging it out there, which I don’t think is acceptable for a coaching team paid millions a year.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Are there anyone who wouldn't swap Liverpool's season so far for our own, despite the fact that we're ahead of them? At least they get served some entertaining football on a regular basis, despite being absolutely horrible in some matches. We're just flat, all them time, always, regardless of whether we get a result or not. I'm finding it so hard to stay interested.
People would moan just as much. Look at the crying every time Chris Smalling gives a striker an inch of space.

If you don't think that was awful I'd hate to see what you do.
Did you expect us to come here and turn them over? as far as I know they have lost once at home all season. They are no push overs. We had zero attacking skill but that's normal. defensively we were shaky and that's kind of normal in an away game, yet we only conceded 2 real chances. At home we will tonk them.

I think tonight pretty much proved the Anfield performance wasn't a one-off.

This is what to expect in these games and with current evidence, we better hold on to David De Gea, because he's saved Mourinho's skin multiple times now.

We have shown some genuine improvement under him in that this will (probably) end up being our best league season when Fergie left, but it is difficult to get particularly excited when it's not actually resulting in a trophy at all.

I can see us falling out of the top four mate.

I can’t see us picking up anything against Chelsea and Liverpool and the heat will be on.

THIS.

The problem seems so easy to extinguish - let your best players flourish, play attacking football, pick your best players, be brave. Mourinho doesn't do that & many, Pogba the obvious one, are getting annoyed at that.

Good point, and on top of that we actually have better players than Liverpool. Martial, Alexis, Pogba, etc. would look scary under Klopp. Under Mourinho they look completely average.

Forget the tactics for a minute. The players look like they aren't motivated and most of that team he brought in himself. I am not sure he is the man to take us forward if you gave our players to a younger, more offensive coach I think we'd be looking a lot better.
He signed five of the fourteen players who played tonight.

What? Is that not a problem?

There is no way we do any sort of attacking training. There are no quick 1-2s. No drag backs. No triangles. No moves resembling they came from a training ground. Heck there aren't even crosses.
Liverpool, Tottenham and City all have an identity. If you censor the faces and kits of those teams, you could still easily tell which one is which by watching them play. I wouldn't be able to differentiate between Wigan and United unless I see a rightback with a hatered for shins.

Sanchez
Pogba
Lukaku
Martial
Rashford
Mata

All playing below themselves. It's very worrying to have such a wide range of attackers underperforming.

Feels like we're going backwards. Imagine being an attacking player playing under him, must be the most depressing thing in the world.

I don't think it's a good result either, away goals are so important.
Everyone is saying how shit our forwards are, it’s not them, it’s Mourinho. Just such a poor manager for any sort of attacking football.

We might as well sign utter shit up front and spent all our money on defenders and defensive midfielders. I don’t see how signing works class forwards solves anything.

It's possible but I think we'll be alright in that regard. Chelsea have had plenty of their own problems, while Spurs and Liverpool can often be inconsistent. Still...2nd's alright but not exactly titillating, especially when the football we're serving up is dire.

What’s going on in here

The boss got it right tonight. Good result and a professional, intelligent performance.

Eh? No de Gea and we lose 4-0.

This wasn't one of Jose's well drilled, brutally efficient, shut-up-shop kind of matches. We were outplayed to the point of almost conceding multiple times but for a good GK and shitty finishing by the opposition.

Why are you making an argument with something I didn’t say? Sometimes it’s just not worth posting here and arguing with overly emotional teenagers.

Because your post makes zero sense. No quality? Seriously? It's not like we have Rochdale's players. Not even City has better roster than United, but problem isn't with players.

Funny thing is, we play defensive football but we still give away chances and space. Against a better team, this game doesn't end 0-0

That's what is worrying me as well. At Madrid the team was a well drilled counter attacking machine and could even keep possession to a good degree. We on the other hand look completely disjointed at times with no plan on what to do on the field whatsoever. Heck if I wanted to be cynical about this I would say the only thing we ever properly got to work attacking wise where long balls towards Fellaini which is simply pathetic for a team as expensive as ours.

We are the worst footballing top club in the world.

Is there a top club who plays worse than us?

All that money spent and we looked like a mid table Prem team vs Sevilla today.

So disappointing.

He’s the anti-Guardiola.

Baldy doesn’t train defending
Depressed guy doesn’t train attacking

I’ve never felt so tired after a United game. That took energy to sit on my arse and watch.

I thought this was a standard United away performance to be perfectly honest. Wasn't awful but didn't pull up any trees

Quite. We had a hairy five minutes before half time but you'd think we'd got hammered five zip based on some of these comments.

Would have like to see more of an attacking edge but it's a bog standard away performance in the Champions League.

We are bad on attacking, bad on defending, only De Gea was good. Why should the board extended Mourinho contract on January in the first place?

I think I'm not alone in saying that after almost five years of mediocrity trophies aren't as important to me as a utd supporter anymore, but is attacking football too much to ask for? I was never a fan of Mourinho but I thought he was the right appointment at the time but it still feels like Moyes is in charge I mean every week the same dreadful shit I honestly wish we had Klopp right now instead of this past it bollockless egomaniac

0-0 away is never a good result. Always likely to make the return very nervy and conceding a goal could be killer.

Call them overrated etc, but there’s no chance we should have the attacking talent we do and play so shit week in, week out. Something has to change.

McTominay’s shot the only on target in 90 minutes.

Can't win the CL with these types of performances / tactics

Forget winning the CL mate.

Hopefully we can finish top 4 and get back in there.

We're nowhere near winning the CL. It'd take a miracle even more than Chelsea's in 2012.

Agree. And they're catching up on us as well.

I desperately wanted him to join us. But this isn’t the José Mourinho that earned the nickname the special one.

I think he’s taken us as far as he can.

It's really not the players, well they aren't playing amazing, but it's the tactics.
Today was another perfect example of when Sevilla attacked, you saw 3 or 4 players bomb forward to get beyond the ball.
When we attack, our players stay in line or behind the ball. We don't commit players forward.

Thats not a players problem, thats a tactic issue.
Sanchez, Lukaku, Matic, Pogba. All signed by Mourinho. 4 of the 6 players on the pitch today are bought by him. He's just doing nothing with them

Anyone saying our forwards are shit are clueless. Sanchez looks a completely different player under us, Lukaku had zero support. Matic and Scott didn't go pass the half-way line during the second-half.

Is he really "special once"?

I used to hear stories on how players would run through brick walls through him. The players just jog around like they dont care.
I dont even know what the plan was. If it was to be solid and restrict Sevilla and escape with a draw, we were lucky to do that. This certainly didnt go to plan.
Its like weve just put 11 players out there and told them to do something on their own.

We seem to be hoping for a bit of magic from one player and thats it.
We dont press.
We dont counter well.
We dont play the target man well cos either the ball is kicked too far away from Lukaku or it bounces off him or we dont have runners off him.

There is no rhythm and no plan. It seems to change every match.

I just want to enjoy watching football mate. Sorry if that makes me spoilt or deluded.

Liverpool went 3-0 up against this lot and we barely created a chance.

Thats the upsetting thing. It's about holding onto 4th. We have very good players, we just don't use them how they should.
I'd love Poch here. I'd love to see what he would do with this lot.

But half the caf wouldn't hire him, because he's never won a trophy.

Surely this points to the one responsible for coaching the performances out of them?

Yep, every single one of them looks useless. Definitely not the coach or the tactics.
