Saw it on reddit some jurno quoting Mourinho saying we had "total control" against Leicester. Can someone confirm that's a true quote or has someone took liberties interpreting?

And yes I know reddit is a vile cesspool, I was weak :annoyed:

You hired Moyes, we hired JM. That’s why we got him and you didn’t. Who knew hiring world class managers would make a difference eh?

Further, Moyes had the advantage, which was being manager of the biggest club in the land and, instead of finding some way to capitalize on that he sat by the fax machine while Jose got on a plane himself to go convince Fabregas!

Again, difference in class, as far as management really.

Big mistake on our behalf really. We could've got at least some out of Fabregas / Costa / Feilip Luis / Willian. Instead we got Mata and Fellaini.

Compared to what? The internet is all the same...

Even Mumsnet gets the odd thing right.

People are crying about this lineup.

Imagine Liverpool away. And how we will setup..that stings.

I still think Spurs will Spurs it tonight.
You reckon we’ll actually show up?

Thinking a forfeit 3-0 defeat might be preferable. ;)

What is Jose thinking here? 5 players starting together their first match of the season, against Spurs? 5 defenders, 2 central attackers, zero width at all... Really?

Boy, way to kill all the anticipation ahead of the match...

He can't even bring himself to put together a half decent team at home to Spurs. Instead here comes the double decker. No wonder the players' confidence are shot...

Prove me wrong Jose!

He should go. It's not working for him anymore. He's a dead man walking.

However, while leaving he should take Ed, Pogba, Sanchez, Lukaku and Jones with him. They're other big parts of the problem.

Feck all of them.

Please, please, please just get rid of him Ed!

Terrible football, poor signings, relentless complaining to the press, hanging players out to dry, his comments about the kids in pre season were despicable. The "it's only pre season" brigade have gone a bit quiet. He was never the right fit, time to fix it.

Hard luck son but it’s time to go.

You’re not special anymore. And our seasons over already. Time for a change*.

*of course the board will be too frightened to do the right thing in case one of the Neville’s throws a strop.

When does the relationship with Mourinho become terminal? How bad does it have to get before he gets binned?

What a colossal defiant moment there standing for a full minute applauding the remaining United fans. This was Jose Mourinhos last game for United

Pochettino didn't get any transfers, had to deal with lack of assurances regarding which players would stay or go until the deadline, and had to juggle that with doing Levy's PR regarding lack of incomings and the stadium. Still out here performing, and Spurs are having their best start to a season in years.

Pretty much this. He used to be a manager that got players fighting for him and would make some bang average player into a world beater through his tactical acumen. Now he's constantly fighting with his players and relies too much on player quality instead of coaching.

I find this sort of stuff more concerning that brief periods of bad form or poor football.

The overriding benefit of Mourinho (aside from typically, you know, winning trophies) has always been that he's a tactically solid manager who makes his teams incredibly hard to beat or score against, especially at home. Even in 06-07 when his Chelsea side were visibly less impressive than they had been before, they remained incredibly difficult to actually beat, and were impenetrable at home. When that's gone, it's difficult to see what he offers as a manager.

Think he may just have lost the dressing room tonight. Chelsea 15’ vibe.
He tried to use the media in the summer to put pressure on Ed and it backfired. Now his against the media and his playing silly games with our Line ups and pre match interviews.

Can anyone please tell me why we extended his contract last year for no fecking reason?

He was saying goodbyes to the fans I believe.

Won't be a surprise if he resigns now. The writing is on the wall for this season.

- First 40 minutes we looked good. While Spurs were a bit rusty and hesitant, we did manage to run and press decently. Why don't we keep doing that even if we concede? Other teams manage to keep up this high intensity game throughout the season but we can't do this continuously for 90 minutes?

- Defenders are not good. But how much of that is down to a lack of motivation and some tactical decisions that didn't work out (like Herrera as CB)? While our defenders bar Smalling are not good, are they so bad as to concede a goal for every shot? Neither Jones nor Bailly were this bad in Jose's first season.

- Is Pogba deliberately trying to get Jose sacked by putting in half-arsed performances? Wouldn't put it past Raiola to advise him to do so.

I am seriously at a loss here as to whether it is Jose's fault or the players. Is he telling them to press and run and they aren't doing it? Or is it down to his coaching?

Yep. When he's not bringing in the trophies in his particular way, what's left. People will point to the defence again, and rightly so in one way, but i'm still more concerned about our attack. We did more running, but it's not a fecking marathon. We still looked disjointed and a bit of a mess going forward, tbh. Just showed more energy doing it.

Mixed feelings, on one hand the scoreline is harsh, on the other hand our lack of goals, some of his choices is just a continuation of the same old problems.

I’m in the camp of cutting our losses on him now. Not beating Burnley next weekend would fully cement that and I’d be shocked if there’s actually people who say we should keep if that comes to pass. Footballs a results business. He doesn’t play exciting football to offset bad results for entertainment value. He is purely results only and he isn’t getting results.

It’s not entirely his fault. He’s got an indecisive board above him and a team that is lacking quality wise and seemingly lacks leadership, but we’ve seen this game towards the tail end of the last season and nothing’s changed.

Was Poch bibbing in the press about it either? No wonder things are going wrong when he’s telling everyone it will if he doesn’t get his way.

I like Jose but the lack of signings in the summer means he needs to go. We're still playing with Lingard and Sanchez up top, Jose's improved us but he doesn't have what it takes to make us into a top team again.

We need someone like Pep or Klopp. I'm not sure there are any managers like that though available.

Funnily enough if we'd gone for Jose after SAF I think we'd have been fine. He'd have signed Costa, Fabregas, Willian, Filipe Luis for us - most of those players would easily start for us. Instead we got Moyes - with Mata and Fellaini, and Van Gaal who dismantled the team and replaced it with dross.

I’m honestly baffled how it isn’t already. The signs were already there in the first (despite two trophies) and second season. We haven’t changed. We’re an awful side to watch. People need to get it out of their head that the media has some agenda with us. They’ll exaggerate but there are not wrong when they call us a pre historic side.

I honestly had ‘higher highs’ watching under LVG than this shit with Mourinho.

Won't resign, he'll want a pay off.

He's done unfortunately, we have problems everywhere at the club but we've got to at the very least get back to playing like Manchester United again. Defence needs an overhaul granted, but Utd teams of old would have still scored 2-3 themselves tonight. We need a head coach or manager that get us enjoying our football again.

Woodward can be replaced after that

I refuse to post in the Mourinho Out Thread, at least not yet.

We played well in first half, and we should have won. Kane scored a great header out of nothing and our players fell apart for the next 10 minutes.

Almost feel for him at this point, we have so much shite at the club and our big players let us down time and time again. Thought he got it right but once again individual errors throughout the team cost us. Not trying to defend him but the issues run deeper than him.

Made a lot of big calls that in hindsight, look like being crazy decisions. Matic looked completely off the pace. Back 3 was a disaster.
